This document provides instructions for creating a PowerPoint presentation with evacuation procedures and maps for Mott Community College. It describes how to download building maps from the college website, start PowerPoint, choose a design template, add titles and text, insert pictures of floor maps, apply a transition effect between slides, save the presentation, and view the slideshow. The steps are broken into sections with headings and numbered lists of actions to complete each task.
2. Downloading Images
1. Open a web browser and go to http://www.mcc.edu/maps/rtc1e_map.shtml
2. Right click on the building map, and click Save Image As (Save Picture As in Internet Explorer)
3. In the Save Image box click Desktop on the left side of the screen, then click the save button
4. Click the 1st-floor West link on the Mott Web Page and Repeat steps 2-3
5. Repeat Steps 2-4 for the 2nd Floor and 3rd Floor Links
3. Starting PowerPoint
1. Double click the PowerPoint icon on your desktop to start PowerPoint
2. Click Blank Presentation once PowerPoint has started
4. Choosing a Design
1. Click the Design button and then click the Ion Design, 5th from the left
2. Click where it says “Click to add title”
5. Adding Text
1. Click Home near the top of the screen
2. Click the font size text box as shown in the left side picture and type 48, then press enter
3. Click the center align button as shown in the right side picture
4. Type “Mott Community College Evacuation Procedures”
5. Click in the subtitle box, click the center alignment button, and type your name
7. Adding a slide
1. Click the arrow on the bottom right corner of the New Slide Button
2. Click the Title and Content Slide
3. Click the title box, center the text and type the Title as shown in the right side picture below
4. Click where it says click to add text and type the text as shown below, pressing enter after typing each line
8. General Guidelines
Do not run, walk
Do not use elevators, use stairs
Stay calm, do not panic
Assist disabled individuals if necessary

9. Adding Pictures
1. Add another slide, this time choosing the Two Content slide
2. Give the slide the title of “RTC 1st Floor Maps”
3. Click the “Pictures” button shown in the left side image
4. In the Insert Picture box click Desktop on the left, click the rtc1w_map.gif file on the right and then click
insert
5. Repeat steps 2-4 for the right side box, this time using the rtc1e_map.gif file
6. Repeat steps 1-5 to create another slide with the 2nd floor map on the left, and the 3rd floor map on the
right and the title saying RTC 2nd and 3rd Floor maps
12. Adding a Transition effect
1. To add an effect when Transitioning between slides click the Transitions button
2. Click the Split transition
3. Click “Apply To All” near the right side of the application in order to apply to all slides
13. Saving your presentation
1. Click the save icon near the upper left corner of the screen, as shown in the left side picture below
2. If necessary click Computer and the click the browse button
3. Click desktop on the left side of the Save As menu and then click the Save button
14. Viewing your slide show
• To view your slide show press the F5 key
• Use the enter key on the keyboard or the left-click on the mouse to
advanced your slides
• You can also use the right and left arrow keys to move forwards and
backwards through your slide show
• Press esc to exit the slide show
