LESSON PLAN
Title of the Lesson: I want to be an astronaut______________ Date: _8-5-17____________________
Unit of Study: _The Space______________________________________________
Level and group __P5___________________ Number of children 12-13
Background Information:
- During the last session I presented them some vocabulary of the space: rocket,
moon, stars, earth, sky and astronaut through flashcards and a song.
- It is important to say that they are currently working on a Space project with her
tutor of P5, so they seem to be really motivated with this unit.
- We have an Oxford’s book (Robin and Daisy). What I normally do is to use some
activities that I find interesting and don’t do the rest of them and change them by
games, songs, bingo’s, etc.
- I teach half groups during 3 sessions a week. However, 2 sessions of 45 minutes
are in the afternoon, and 1h lesson in the morning. Every week a different group (1
or 2) of each class (P5A or B) has a lesson in the morning.
Besides, I have to pick up the students at their class and go to the English
Classroom, which is in the second floor. So at the end we have 35’ of real time or
50’. As I have to repeat every session four times (p5A group 1 and 2, P5B group 1
and 2) what I do is to try to do it as it was 35’ in the afternoon. But if the session it’s
in the morning, I can be more relaxed and spend more time in every activity.
Learning objectives:
- Practice the routines language (hello, how are you today, what’s the weather like today…)

Assessment:

Lesson development:
In this lesson I followed the routines that I normally follow in my kindergarten’s lessons.

Description
Every session a different kid takes Mouse
(our puppet) and does the daily routine in
a chart, which includes:
- What they is today (number and day of
the week)
- What’s the weather like today?
- How are you today?
(sad/happy/angry/excited)
After that we sing the Hello Song in a
circle.
First of all we have to refresh their
memories and play a game with the
words that I introduced in the last
session.
GAME 1 “IS IT A…?” :
I ask 6 children to come to the front and I
give each them a Space Flashcard but I
ask them to keep it in secret. They hold
up their flashcards with the pictures
turned inwards. Then I put on the Mouse
puppet and move to a flashcard. I will as
“Is it a star?” The child holding the
flashcards turns it around so that
everyone can see and the class answers
Yes or No. If the answer is Yes, the
flashcards remains visible. I the answer is
NO, the flashcard is turned around again
and Mouse returns to it later. The game
continues until all six flashcards have
been turned around and are visible to the
class.
GAME 2 “LET’S GO TO…”:
I will place the flashcards in the walls
around the room (my class is very big)
well spaced-out. I will ask the children to
go and point to a flashcard depending on
what I say:
“Let’s go to the
rocket/moon/stars/earth/sky”
“Put on your astronaut costume”
The children sits down in the storytelling
carpet and they listen and watch a story
in a big book “Robin and Daisy want to be
astronauts”. I will try to encourage the
children to join with the actions and the
sound effects.
This song
I will chose one kid that has to pick up a
flashcard and draw in the Tate Paint
Game this object. The rest have to guess
what is he painting.
Learn the “Zoom Zoom Zoom we are
going to the moon” song.
They already know this song.
