attention and shapes public discussion. Even the most traditional or tech phobic businesses cannot
believe it away into non–existence. The necessity to market and promote your business through
social media has in part become part of the new reality. Whether you were slow to "climb on the

things you can do today to make this possible. Let's take a look at the "Big 3": Facebook, Twitter,

Social Problems Of Social Class
Social classes are categories individuals are put into based on income, lifestyles, opportunities, job
occupations, behaviors, and attitudes. Virtually all societies have a class system, and America is no
exception. To prevent mixing of class systems "Class boundaries are maintained by limiting social
interaction, intermarriage, and mobility into another class" (Tischler, 2014, P.181). How many social
classes exist in American society is debatable, however many believe that there is only five. The five
American social classes are upper class, upper–middle class, middle–middle class, lower–middle
class, and lower class. The first class is the upper class, which consist of wealthy individuals who
maintain an exclusive lavish lifestyle. This class has a great influence on the majority of society's
primary political and economic structures. Those in the upper class like to be separate from other
classes, and do this by having, and belonging to prestigious private schools and clubs. The upper
class is relatively small, "It is estimated that in the United States, the upper class consist of from 1 to
3 percent of the population" (Tischler, 2014, P.181). Modern day people of the upper class can be
represented by entrepreneurs, such as William Gates, Warren Buffet, Mark Zuckerberg, or Larry
Ellison. The next class is the upper–middle class, people in this class are usually successful
professional and business people as well as their families, and are just below the upper class,

Social Problems In Sunflower County
A social problem is a condition that at least some people in a community would deem as being
undesirable. A social problem is also a condition 'created' by a society that is can usually be
alleviated or solved by society. According to our textbook, Social Problems: Reading with Four
Questions, there are three criteria that a problem must meet in order to be a social problem. First of
all, the problem must be social in origin and caused by social factors. The more its causes are social,
the more it becomes a social problem. Next, the problem must be harmful to many individuals.
Finally, in order to be considered a social problem, it should harm society in a sense that it threatens
what we believe society should be. There are three theoretical ... Show more content on

Poverty would be considered a social problem because it affects a great number of people and can
be detrimental to society. The unemployment rate in Sunflower County averaged at 12.4%, which is
much higher than the overall unemployment rate in Mississippi at 7.2%. Sunflower County is also
one of the poorest counties in the states and one of the poorest in the United States. 36.1% of people
living in Sunflower County are below the poverty level. This isn't counting those who are struggling
or those wavering right about the poverty line. The overall poverty rate for Mississippi is 22.7%.
One factor that could contribute to poverty in Sunflower County is the lack of education. Many
school districts in Sunflower County have been put under the conservatorship of the Mississippi
Department of Education due to academic and financial reasons. 70.2% of Sunflower County
residents graduate from high school and only 13% have obtained their Bachelor's Degree. Another
factor could be that there are more white collar jobs than blue collar jobs. Undereducated individuals
would not qualify for many white collar jobs leaving them without employment. There are many
steps that could be taken to help prevent or solve the poverty issue in Sunflower County. They could
encourage residents to graduate and further their education, whether it is in college or a certificate
program. If there are more white collar jobs, they will

The Social Problem Of Voting Rights
The social problem: What is the social problem you will examine?
The research will examine voting rights in relation to voting right inequalities and the society's
effort to have an all minority groups included in the civic process. The research will look into
several historical factors that contributed to voting rights inequalities and how the society has
evolved to solve issues related to the right to vote.
History of problem and policy: when did the problem first emerge historically? What historical eras
will you examine?
Initially, the United States constitutions had no provisions that defined who was eligible to vote.
There were no national standards for voting rights and the criteria for eligibility was determined by
individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main contemporary federal policy that will be examined is the amendments that have been
made to the voting acts which empowered states to decide and make judgments on who is eligible to
vote. The research will look into how this undermines the rights to vote in our modern society. In
particular, the research will focus on the amendment made on the 1965 voting rights act that
internationally defined eligibility of a voter with the inclusion of minority groups. A ruling made by
the Supreme Court in 2013 gave power to states to determine and register eligible voters. This in my
opinion, and from data collected from different articles gave states a chance to create more
restrictions on voting rights. Social welfare associations think that beneficiaries of such laws have
created a status quo which results in discrimination. The research will look at the impact of such
contemporary policies and examine its effect on voting rights and societal perception of inequality.
Human rights and justice–oriented framework. How does the social problem and social policy
response reflect social, economic and environmental justice and human rights concerns?
The introduction of the voting right act into the American constitution represented justice for all
American citizens, created equality irrespective of race, gender or social status and eliminated
unnecessary impediments that prevented individuals from voting. The right to vote evolved from a
privilege to an

The Problem Of Social Psychology
Social psychology is the study of how people think, feel, and act as a result of being present among
others. At times, a direct contact is not required to fully influence a person. The imagined or implied
presence of others is sufficient to carry out a full effect on another person. Examples to portray how
the impact of others can have an authority over the way we function socially can be found almost
anywhere around us. The media is filled with many examples from recent headlines that may offer
an illustration of this phenomenon. In recent news, the National Public Radio (NPR), a non–profit
membership media organization, aired an interview discussing Syria 's bloody civil war. With more
than four million people who have fled the country thus far, it has easily been named one of the
worst refugee situations in history. Millions more have also been displaced within Syria. Although
we rarely hear from the people inside, NPR was able to air an interview it conducted with one of the
citizens who lives in the broken country. Saeed al–Batal, a photographer and filmmaker who did not
use his real name for security reasons, reveals how horrific the experiences currently are in Syria. In
this paper, the transcript of the interview will be used portray how, even when situations are clearly
appalling and catastrophic, the presence of others effects people's contributions and willingness to
help. It will also be used to psychologically understand why people help, why people do not, when

Social Anxiety : A Mental Health Problem
Have you ever felt like you are overly nervous in social situations? Well if so, then you might have a
mental disorder called social anxiety. Social anxiety could almost be a thing of the past unless a
person chooses not to get treatment for it. There are many different treatments and skills to help
reduce social anxiety by a ton. Social anxiety should not stop anybody from doing the things they
love. So many other people have this disorder and do not want to get help because they do not want
to admit they need help. There are multiple causes, effects, and treatment to clarify if someone has

Although stress can help motivate people to do their homework, it could also cause anxiety if it is
severe enough(Kahn para. 1). There is no exact cause of social anxiety, but scientists think it is
environmental and genetic factors combined(Higuera para. 4). Some conditions that can cause
people to have social anxiety are worrying about being judged, being the center of attention, being
in situations with strangers, and avoiding talking to people because they feel like they are going to
be embarrassed("Social" para. 5). Genetics and seeing a lot of anxious behavior can cause social
anxiety; however, it is not certain how it is related to social anxiety("Social" para. 10). Even though
social anxiety can run in families, scientists are not sure how it is actually linked to genes(Higuera
para. 6). Whenever people are around their families frequently, they learn to react the same way
their family members do which can lead to social anxiety(Higuera para. 6). When people notice a
great deal of anxious behavior around them, they could catch on and start acting the same
way(Nordqvist para. 16). Shy and bottled up children are more likely to have social anxiety than
other children(Nordqvist para. 16). Overprotective parenting is another cause of social
anxiety(Nordqvist para. 16). If social anxiety runs in the family,

The Social Problem Of Social Problems
1.0.0 SOCIAL PROBLEM The term "social problem" cannot be comprehensively defined without
understanding the meaning of social itself before joining problem. 1.0.1 SOCIAL The word social
comes from the Latin socius meaning "friend." When you 're being social, you 're everyone 's friend.
Go to a social, or mixer and you might make a lot of new friends. Stand in the corner pouting,
however, and you 're being anti–social. Humans are described as social being ones that tend to move
or live in groups together, Social is relating to society or it is organization, needing companionship
and therefore best suited to living in communities", relating to or designed for activities in which
people meet each other for pleasure. Cambridge dictionary defined social as relating to activities in
which you meet and spend time with other people and that happen during the time when you are not
working: 1.0.2 PROBLEM Problem is a condition of discontentment resented by someone. But
when it is resented on many people, it becomes a social problem. For a problem to be social, it must
involve a large number of people, sometimes groups and institutions who consider a particular
condition as undesirable and intolerable and want to it to be corrected through collective effort or
action. It is also a perceived gap between the existing state and a desired state, or a deviation from a
norm, standard, although many problems turn out to have several

Social Class Is An Ongoing Problem
Social class is an ongoing problem in education, especially for those living on the lower end of the
divide. More than one in five of Scotland's children are living in poverty. In this essay I will
consider why social class is an ongoing problem, its influence on wellbeing and achievement, and
propose ways in which we can attempt to combat these issues. This will be accomplished with
reference to concepts, theories and the scenarios detailed in appendix A, B and C.
According to Bourdieu 's highly influential theory of cultural reproduction, children from middle
class families are more advantaged in gaining qualifications due to their possession of cultural
capital (Lamont & Lareau, 2011). Cultural capital can be defined as a deeply ingrained knowledge
of society's high culture and taste, behaviours, linguistic cues and the education system. Cultural
reproduction refers to the transmission of these aforementioned cultural values and norms between
the generations. This can only be produced by family upbringing in the home (Bourdieu & Passeron,
1990). This transition enormously influences children's success in school and later in life (Sullivan,
2001). However the distribution of cultural capital is severely inefficient (Bourdieu and Passeron,
1977). Sullivan (2001) applied Bourdieu's theory and found that the working class lack the same
cultural capital as the middle class. His research suggests that although working class children can
build this knowledge, they will never

Yes and no because there has been and bad things on the internet. Why I said yes because a lot of
schools and and officers use the internet for learning and finding out nice and interesting things with
it. I also said no because there is a lot of new bad things that people put on the internet. Most people
that have gotten hurt by people on the internet have said things that aren't nice and hurtful to them. It
can cause those people that got hurt on the internet to make them lose their life because they can't
deal with the pain that they did to them. When you put something on the internet, you can never get
it off the internet. When you put something on the internet , can't get rid of it. Yeah, you can delete
stuff, but it won't totally go off the internet. Because there always a place where you can find you

on there then delete because people can find it. Why is technology bad for you? Why it is not the

Education And Social Problem Solving Skills
Introduction Teachers have different ways of engaging children in social problem solving skills. The
literature review revolves around this argument. The different topics to be discussed are inclusive of
the children capabilities in terms of their social emotional development and skills that children need
in order to become problem solvers. The other topic is the methodology which discusses the
strategies used in different articles, the classroom environment and the action of teachers as models
following their professional development from their training to coaching activities. At the end the

that children need to become a problem solver (such as imaginations, flexibility, etc.) Pitri, E.
(2013), discusses Creative Problem solving via artwork. It involves analysis and logical thinking
and also irrational thinking through ways such as fantasy and play. Creativity is ideally not a
requirement in problem solving but creative production is a situation that needs problem solving.
Individuals who are creative are able to solve problems in a more innovative, appropriate manner
and high quality. Art activities help children face technical, interpersonal and contextual problems,
following critical thinking skills the children can make choices among a variety of possible solutions
(Pitri, E. 2013). Children who solve problems using creative thinking skills to solve problems are
usually focused on the task and they continuously define new problems and can ask questions out
loud. Problem solving skills and reasoning create a foundation for the learning of a lifetime.
Reasoning, making inferences, implementing decisions and analysing arguments to solve the
common problems are all important skills across all the areas of development. The skills give

Social Problems Of The Social Problem
One major social problem that concerns me is social division. Social divisions include but are not
limited to: gender, race, class, identity, language barriers, and geographical locations. They are often
separated into categories of people. Ex. Homeless, elderly, sex offenders, single parents, disabilities,
children, teens, etc. In today's time, we seem to point the finger on everyone else rather than taking
the blame ourselves and it is not surprising to see that the majority is being accused on young people
in particular. With the rate of crime and increasing amount of teen suicide, this can be easy to point
the finger at them. However, we all share the responsibility of the social problems at hand. We all
disrupt social order for our own pleasing. With the busyness of life we do not stop and take the time
needed to acknowledge the needs of others. We lose the incentive we once had to care for others for
a mere moment of pleasure we may receive. And due to that mere moment of pleasure, we come
open the door of diversity, social justice, and at–risk populations. The young people of today's
society are more at risk then the elderly. The young are the next generations to come. More and
more youth are suffering from psychological problems and are lacking incentive and failure to
thrive. The unresolved issues play a part in the future. The youth are in need of finding security. If
we are pointing the finger at everyone around us and allowing social divisions to separate us as

Social problems can encompass many things, but they all have two things in common. They are a
social state that disturbs society, and they are detrimental to society. There are four stages to a social
problem: public outcry, crafting an official response, reaction to official response, and developing
alternative strategies to solve problem. These stages run in a cycle and happen over and over again
depending upon what the public is upset about. When you have a social problem, it affects many
people in the society. Some examples of social problems are drug abuse, poverty, world population,
and suicide. All of these problems affect a mass amount of people in a grim way therefore ... Show

Then in 1973, the Supreme Court made the decision that abortion would be legal. The NARAL Pro–
Choice America Foundation believes, "In the years since Roe v. Wade was decided, thousands of
American women's lives have been saved by access to legal abortion."
Women have an abortion for many reasons. About < .5% of women have an abortion due to rape,
3% due to fetal health problems, 4% due to physical health problems, and 4% said it would interfere
with their education and/or career. Another 7% said they were not mature enough to raise a child,
8% said they didn 't want to be a single mother, and 19% stated that they were done having children.
Two main reasons that women have an abortion is that they cannot afford to have a baby (23%) and
that they are not ready to have a child (25%). Because of women's differing circumstances, congress
made the decision to legalize abortion. They wanted all women to have a choice when their life is at
stake, they were raped, or when incest occured.
Why is This Problem a Social Problem
Abortion is a social problem because it affects many people in society. Whether you have had an
abortion yourself, a family member has, or even a friend; it affects you no matter what. Many people
care about this topic, and that also makes it a social problem. Depending on your view on abortion,
there are different opinions you could have over why this problem negatively affects society.

Social Problems Within The Australian Society
A Social Analysis – Homelessness There are a growing number of social problems existing within
the Australian society and unfortunately, research does not need to prove this. All it takes is a stroll
down the main street of some suburbs to realise the extent of social problems within society.
Homelessness is a rising trend that is affecting people of all demographics. Homelessness is more
than just a simple disadvantage; with usually many underpinning factors which contribute to it, such
as domestic violence, financial stress, mental illness and drug use. Homelessness is an issue around
the globe, however when focusing on the issue within an Australian context – it stems back quite a

(Johnson and Chamberlain, 2008) These factors impact directly on people within society and lead to
extensive financial strain, which ultimately leaves them as a high risk of homelessness. In addition
to this, it is believed that domestic violence is a primary cause for homelessness particularly
amongst women and children. (Ultius, 2017) A whole issue within itself is the accessibility to social
housing for vulnerable Australians, with many families needing to seek short–term or crisis
accommodation due to the lack of availabilities within the social housing sector, and for those who
are able to obtain housing within the private sector often fall victim to private landlords as they
display forms of power when rent falls into arears. These people then become victims within the
private market, often becoming 'blacklisted' by landlords and their agents. It is believed that private
renters who attempt to advocate for their rights are often locked out of their premises due to
"disruptive behaviour." (Sharam and Hulse, 2014) There is also a considerable amount of
government pressure that damages any person's attempt at improving their financial situation. An

Social Problems
A social problem is normally a term used to describe problems with a particular area or group of
people in the world. Social problems often involve problems that affect real life. It also affects how
people react to certain situations. While differences in racial/ethnic prejudices have been explored
extensively in past literature (e.g. Bobo and Zubrinksy's 1996, study of differential prejudices
directed toward Hispanic and Black individuals), little U.S. research has investigated how attitudes
toward lesbians, gays, bisexual men, bisexual women, and male–to–female (MtF) and female–to–
male (FtM) transgender (henceforth "LGBT") may differ ( Marcus, 2015).
Social justice that is face among the LGBT is discrimination. Variations in family structures include
single–parent families, step families, blended families, and intergenerational families. Lesbian, gay,
and bisexual families experience a special risk of discrimination.A major problem gay people face is
homophobia–an extreme and irrational fear of lesbian and gay people simply because they are
lesbian and gay. LGB people are one of the primary groups at risk of discrimination and oppression
(Kirst–Ashman, 2013).

when she was in high school. She had a few friends, and, in addition to that, had some case of social
anxiety. Often ignored by others, she refused to give up. Throughout time, she improved immensely
and now has a multitudinous amount of friends. Also, she currently has no social anxiety due to her
conquering her fears of social rejection. My mother now owns a successful business as a result of
this beneficial change. You can always change no matter what. All you need to do is act efficiently
and face your fears. You can help face your fears by taking extracurricular activities such as band,

ABSTRACT
Corporate social responsibility is a concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental
concerns in their business activities and in interaction with their stakeholders on a voluntary basis.
In this global context, voluntary social and environmental practices of business, going beyond
companies' existing legal obligations, can play a major role in filling the governance gap in an
innovative way. The sector is characterized by controls across the entire value–chain of sugar
production and sale, which not only hampers its efficiency but also exacerbates the cyclicality in
sugar and sugarcane production. The growth and development in sugar sector in the country in
general and in the state of Uttar Pradesh in particular has multiple linkages with social, economic
and environmental issues. The purpose of this study is to conduct a triple bottom line assessment of
sugarcane value chain and suggest alternatives that could improve the current sustainable practices
of CSR across various stakeholders.

The Potential Problem Of Social Workers
The potential problem of social workers and lawyers/magistrates or judges working together is that
social worker might not be mindful of legal expectations and requirements (Kennedy & Richards,
2007). The roles and functions of lawyer and social worker are very dissimilar as well as their
histories, cultures and rituals (Kennedy & Richards, 2007). Lawyer's purposes are limited and
tangible so they find it difficult to understand that social worker's purposes are not (Rice & Day,
2014). Social workers find law as a part of their solution but not the complete resolution of the
problem (Dickens, 2008). Their main goal is to pursuit equitable access to social, economic,

They need to make sure they acknowledge the points at which legal interventions and remedies can
prove effective and to seek to use them for the betterment of the community as a whole, and their
clients in particular (Kennedy, Richards & Leiman, 2013). The practice of neither law nor social
work is value neutral and practitioners in both professions need to consider the consequences of
their interventions and their failure of the intervene (Rand, 2006). Social workers and lawyers must
maintain an analytical and informed perspective about the human service and legal systems (Rice &
Day, 2014). Differences must be understood and accepted before personal reconciliation and
integrated practice are possible. Partnership between law and social work could be hard but their
knowledge and skills need to be shared for maintaining an efficient and sustainable relationship. In
relation to disadvantage and protection of vulnerable people, the main goal of both lawyer and social
worker can be same by seeking the same outcomes or changes (Kennedy & Richards, 2007). Hence,
they can form powerful relationship to further common goals by ensuring human rights are
supported and maximised justice and fairness.
There are several main witness roles that social worker can participate. This requires preparation,

The Social Studies Problem Solving Processes Essay
) What is meta–cognition in social studies? Using three examples explain the social studies problem
solving processes.
Meta–cognition in social studies is said to be the ability to use prior knowledge to plan a strategy for
approaching a learning task, take necessary steps to problem solving, reflect and evaluate results and
modify one's approach as needed. It can also be said to be awareness of one's own knowledge, what
one does and doesn't know, and one's ability to understand, control and manipulate one's cognitive
processes.
Meta–cognition can therefore be defined as the knowledge and control people have over their
thinking and learning activities. It involves "thinking about thinking" that is to say, the knowledge
and control people have their own thinking and learning activities.
In relation to the acquisition of critical thinking skills, meta–cognition refers to what a learner
knows about his/her thinking processes, (conscious awareness) and the ability to control these
processes by planning, choosing and monitoring. Literally, therefore, meta–cognition means "big
thinking".
EXAMPLES OF SOCIAL STUDIES SOLVING PROCESS.
Problem solving process in social studies is defined as cognitive processing that is mental
functioning and thinking directed at achieving a goal when a solution method is obvious to the
problem solver.
The processes or steps involved in problem solving are;
(1) Definition or identification of problem.
(2) Analyze the problem (determine or guess the

Social Problems Of A Social Problem
A social problem is a condition that at least some people in a community views as being undesirable.
Everyone would agree about some social problems, such as murders and DWI traffic deaths. Other
social problems may be viewed as such by certain groups of people. Teenagers who play loud music
is a public park obviously do not view as a problem, but some other people may consider it an
undesirable social condition. Some nonsmoker views smoking as an undesirable social condition
that should be banned in public buildings.

psychologically (mental health), it can impact the healthy and mindset of the victims. Human
Trafficking affects all genders but especially women and children and forces them into prostitution

countries are facing. The United States must try to curve the amount of trafficking cases, to cutdown
the effects of victim drug dependency, health problems, and psychological problems. According to
the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime:
The elements of Human Trafficking are (1) The Act, (2) The Means, (3) The Purpose. The Act
involves "What is done", such as: recruitment, transfer, harboring and or transportation. The Means
involves "How it is Done", such as: abduction fraud, coercion, threating with force, abuse of power
or vulnerability. The Purpose involves "Why it is done" such as: exploiting the prostitution of others,
sexual exploitation, slavery, and other types of exploitation.

Social Problems And The Social Problem
Photo Essay Our world has many social problems that we try to solve or reduce in many different
ways. In order to solve them, we must first look for them. Tara Hardinge is my Sociology professor.
During her lecture, she stated that "Social problem it is a social condition that a part of society view
as dangerous or harmful to members of society and there is a need to cure or remedy it" (Hardinge
2015). Linda Mooney, David Knox, and Caroline Schacht are Sociology professors at East Carolina
University and are authors of the textbook Understanding Social Problems. Social problems have
objective and subjective lements to them. Mooney, Knox, and Schacht state that "the objective
element of a social problem refers to the existence of a social condition" (2). Mooney, Knox and
Schacht also state that "the subjective element of a social problem refers to the belief that a
particular social condition is harmful to society or to a segment and that it should and can be
changed" (3). Sociological imagination is a term developed by American Sociologist, C. Wright
Mills. Mooney, Knox, and Schacht state that "Sociological imagination refers to the ability to see
the connections between our personal lives and the social world in which we live in" (. Mooney,
Knox, and Schacht state that "Sociologists use sociological imagination to distinguish between

Summary Of Chapter Five Of Social Problems
Chapter five of Social Problems by Joel Best was about the media and how claims can use the
media. The chapter explains how the media is ran and how it can impact claims. The most important
components of the chapter is how the news has changed over time (139). The chapter then goes on
to bring up how popular culture affects how media handles social claims (149). The chapter also
brings ups how social media can play a part in claimsmaking (153). Lastly, the chapter brings up
how the media impacts us (155). Best talks about how the news has become the way it is and how it
affects claims now. News started as fifteen–minute broadcasts on weekdays, which were only on
only three networks, which was extended to thirty–minutes in the 1960s. With

Social Problems Perpetuated Essays
Throughout United States history, power of the upper class has been maintained by assigning
"different" people a lower, less desirable, place in society, predisposing them to social inequalities.
Social stratification creates a system of social classes in which people born into a specific class have
different "life chances" (Macionis 28). These classes are somewhat maintained by the fact that
people tend to "take care of their own," meaning that members of the upper class generally favor
other members of the upper class and offer opportunities for advancement in society to those they
feel most similar to (Doran). People from lower socioeconomic classes generally experience less life
opportunity, have increased poverty and therefore have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Farber 32). This means that the number of people falling below the poverty is increased, therefore
the number of people predisposed to the various social problems associated with lower
socioeconomic status, is also increased. It is difficult for those in a lower socioeconomic class to
overcome social problems. In fact, many times social inequality perpetuates social problems that
created the inequality in the first place. Robert K. Merton's Theory of Deviance explains that those
in a lower socioeconomic class are not given the same advantages and opportunities as others, and
must obtain the "American Dream" through alternate methods than that of those in a higher
socioeconomic class. This creates a strain on the lower class that is not present in the upper class,
and often leads to deviant and criminal behavior (Merton 179). A person with a criminal record
experiences an increased social stigma that further prevents them from obtaining legitimate
employment, thus creating a strain that may perpetuate their initial problems and result in repeated
criminal actions. Another area where social problems may actually be perpetuating the social
inequality that created the problem in the first place is racial, ethnic, and gender inequality. In an
effort to overcome these inequalities, the government created programs such as

The Social Problem Of Crime
This information analysis focuses on the social problem computer crime, but more specifically
identity theft. In this paper, I analyzed six different articles from various sources. I chose cyber
crime as my topic because I have an interest in computers and coding. I also like to watch
documentaries and a television show on cybercrime scene investigations. Analyzing articles on this
topic will help me develop further knowledge on this topic and how it is considered a social problem
in our society. Computer crime refers to any violation of the law in which a computer is the target or
means of criminal activity (Mooney, Knox, & Schacht, 2014, p.113). Computer crime is also known
as cybercrime. Cybercrime continues to have far reaching effects because it affects individuals,
companies, and organizations and is increasingly a problem in the globalized world we live in. This
is because we rely so much on cell–phones, computers, and us many social network sites.
Cybercrime is considered a social problem because it negatively affects a large group of people in
our society. In 2014, there were 1.5 million cyber attacks worldwide ("IBM Cyber Security
Intelligence Index," 2015, pg.13). One type of computer crime is identity theft. Identity theft is the
use of someone else's personal information to obtain credit or other economic rewards (Mooney, et
al, 2014, pg.113). Identity theft first became a crime in 1998, when Congress passed the Identity
Theft and Assumption Deterrence Act

Alcoholism a Social Problem?
The Social Problem The social problem that was identified in the helping relationship is a return to
alcohol use or relapse. The participant in the helping project admitted she had been in substance
abuse treatment twice, but was unable to remain abstinent from alcohol use. This, according to her is
a relapse, however, Miller (1996) identifies relapse as a return to alcohol and/or drug dependent
behavior in a person who has previously achieved and maintained abstinence for a significant period
of time beyond withdrawal. Unfortunately, the participant was unable to remain abstinent for any
significant period of time, therefore does not meet the definition of relapse. Hence, we will discuss
relapse, but the core social problem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Milam and Ketcham (1983) report that in 1804, Thomas Trotter wrote a paper that first introduced
the concept of alcoholism as a disease. The essay was very controversial at that time in history and
the controversy continues to this day. Trotters' paper not only challenged the popular Christian
church opinion that the alcoholic is sinful and depraved, but he implied that the alcoholic is not
responsible for his behavior and should not be judged but treated. Trotter also managed to upset the
medical profession by implying that they were now to assume responsibility for treating more than
just the physical ailments that accompany alcohol abuse. The disease concept of alcoholism was met
with such disapproval by the church and a complete lack of professional cooperation that the
concept eventually faded into oblivion. Unfortunately for the alcoholics, they continued to be
relegated to the same institutions that housed the insane and feeble minded, Milam and Ketcham
(1983). This treatment continued until AA entered the dark world of the alcoholic. While there were
religious groups like the Oxford Group, which was an evangelistic Christian movement from the
1920s, where alcoholics were told they lacked moral principals, along with other forms of treatment
which used barbiturates and belladonna, but nothing to provide the alcoholic with hope for a sober

Social Security Benefits
The Problem Social Security Faces: The concept of the "graying of America" is becoming a more
pressing issue as the baby boomer population is coming of age to retire. Between years 2000 to
2010, the number of Americans aged 65 and older increased a staggering 15.1 percent (35 million to
40.3 million) (Karger 2014, pg. 202). Demographics suggest that by 2050, the number of this age
group will increase to 88.5 million (Karger 2014, pg. 22). Not only is this population growing, but
people are living longer. The larger issue is having enough money to provide people benefits to
sustain a decent quality of life.

The benefit will be reduced by one–half of one percent for each month a person decides to collect
Social Security benefits before their full retirement age. It is also possible to continue to work and
simultaneously receive retirement benefits. Benefits will not be reduced in the month a person
reaches full retirement age. However, benefits must be reduced if earnings exceed certain limits for
the months before full retirement age is reached (Social Security Administration 2016, pg. 5).
Funding and Distribution: Each worker in the United States pays taxes into Social Security. This
money is used presently for those who have already retired, disabled, survivors of workers who have
died, and dependents of those who received benefits (Social Security Administration 2016, pg. 7).
The money that a person pays in taxes is not put into a personal trust fund. The government uses the
taxes a worker pays to give benefits who are the current recipients. Any "leftovers" go to the general
Social Security trust fund, but not a personal account with a specific name on it (Social Security
Administration 2016, pg. 7). To visualize subsidies for retired workers, below the figure shows a

Fascination of social media is soaring up in a phenomenal growth. Young generations especially
teenage are becoming crazy for the buzz media even so middle–aged alongside near and above
sixty–aged people are also athirst for this in our country. This scenario is taken a gander not only in
Bangladesh but also in all over the world. According to the worldwide ranking of popularity, social
networking sites are Facebook, twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, YouTube, My Space, Whatsapp and so
forth respectively. Needless to say that Facebook is the most–ever trendy social network in
Bangladesh. Online revealed statistics of 'Internet Live Stats', cited by World Wide Web Consortium
(W3C) and World Wide Web Foundation as of July 1, 2016, there are 21,439,070 Internet users in
Bangladesh which is 13.2 % (penetration) share of Bangladeshi population and 0.6 % share of

Social Media Problems
The first time many people engage in the usage of social media is during their teenage years. Many
individuals turn to social media for factual information and later discover what they read or seen
wasn't true. This is because yellow journalism publications provide false information, and when it's
later corrected not as many people are informed because the media has moved on to another event.
Social media has a fear to many people because the National Security Agency can monitor social
media activity and read private messages by simply entering a person's username into their system.
Social media is a business and interrupts personal privacy. Social media is a problem.
Social media is a leading problem because it leads to shorter attention spans. The increasing prestige
of social media and the internet is actually rewiring our brain. In 2015 a study was conducted by
Microsoft. This study surveyed two thousand people as a control group and monitored the brain
activity of one hundred and twelve additional people using electroencephalograms. The results
showed that the average human attention span is rapidly declining. In the year two thousand, the
human attention span was twelve seconds. Now the human attention span is eight seconds–making
our attention span shorter than that of a goldfish at nine seconds. Shortened attention spans lead to
dissatisfaction, violence, and declining sales. For example; last year Amazon had a fifty six–second
delay on their, checkout process which

Social Problems And The Social Problem
To study some social problems, one may have to take a social constructionist approach. That is to
say that taking this approach could be problematic because it is a function of social interaction. They
aren 't immediately obvious but should be interpreted. Take into consideration texting and driving.
Many believe it is horrible and those people who commit the crime should be punished. It did not
always used to be this way and in some places is not looked at in such fashion. When we objectively
label the creation of social problems, we focus on the measure of the characteristics of the
conditions. They do induce material and psychic suffering. Objectively labeling the creation of
social problems means that we may induce material and psychic suffering. Questions that may arise
are what could be the standards and who exactly is defining the problem. SPPM stands for the social
problems process model. It consists of claims–making, media coverage, public reaction, policy
making, social problems work and policy outcome. We use these we steps to get the public 's
perceptions and use different tools to gain their reactions. Claims are things that deal with a social
issue. The people who feel that an issue is wrong are claims makers. For example, as stated above
believing that drunk driving is horrible and should be punished is a claim. Those who bring the
problem to the courts and the media are the claims makers. From the subjectivist viewpoint,
correctly understood, the study of

Murad IV made Pope Urban VII look like a pushover––his punishment for breaking the ban was
death. King James I of England was no fan of tobacco either, so he picked up his pen. In 1604,
James wrote the treatise A Counterblaste to Tobacco, and he didn't pull any punches, writing, "What
honour or policie can move us to imitate the barbarous and beastly maners of the wilde, godlesse,
and slavish Indians, especially in so vile and stinking a custom?"(King James, 1604).
As the years progressed, smoking became more and more acceptable. Nazis aggressively tried to
suppress tobacco usage but their ban fell with them, as during World War II and the immediate
postwar years, smoking was actively promoted in most aspects of society. One only has to review
the movies of the '50s and '60s to see that in almost every scene the hero or the heroine is smoking a
cigarette. Even, King James's attacks on smoking over 3 centuries ago (Eckholm, 1977) have been
vindicated.
As a result of this, the tobacco companies and society have been very effective in promoting
smoking as being socially acceptable. This may seem all the more peculiar, given that most smokers
believe smoking is hazardous; indeed, even in 1968 (Horn, Note 1), 53% of smokers reported that
they would like to stop. That the antipathy does not necessarily depend on scientific data is evident
from the response of Solomon Islanders and Saharan Africans: Though uninformed of the evidence

Social Problems In Prison
Define social problems. A social problem is something that society or certain groups in society see
as threat or disruption to the "system."
Prison system: Examine and give three solutions to help fix the prisons. The prison system was
designed to house criminals. I see no true form of rehabilitation or programs in place to help inmates
merge back into society. My first initiative would be for all inmates to get some form of training and
education. Although this already offered, I would ensure that they receive a quality education that
they can actually use in society. My second correction to the prison system would be the mindsets of
the inmates. When you place a lot of prisoners in one confined space, you are ultimately producing
negativity and feeding into the idea of a "closed mindset." Placing them behind bars and closed
doors can impose the idea that "I am an animal, and I will never have another chance at life."
Instead, I would have intervention programs and "real talk" counseling to get the inmates to truly
question their existence and how some of their behaviors could be corrected. Lastly, I would
separate violent and nonviolent offenders. Many prisoners are placed together without much
examination of their records. This creates "friction," and leads to a hostile environment. I would
have the inmates placed according to the infractions committed, and I am sure that there will be less
reports of prison violence.

Social Security : A Social Problem
The social security deficit is one that consumes the economy in the greatest way possible, whether
man is aware of it or not. Social Security is an insurance plan the working class earns their
beneficial coverage due to their work hours and tax paying on their earnings. The program is for the
disabled and for those who can longer work due to health issues, or because of the retirement age
that is required to have reached and some have met. To solve the social security dilemma some of
the actions that could be taken into consideration could be to: 1) gradually increase the retirement
age for the full age of benefits to thirty–one percent, 2) reduce the cost of living adjustment by half
of a percentage point making it to forty percent, 3) reduce benefits by five percent, and 4) using
"progressive indexing" to reduce benefits for future retirees to thirty–one percent. Although social
security was just used as a retirement program at first, it changed in 1939 to also benefit survivors
and the retiree 's spouse and children, and in 1956 disability benefits were also added to the Social
Security Act. In the original 1935 law, it was stated to contain the first ever national unemployment
compensation program, served as an aid to states for several health and welfare programs, and to
Aid to Dependent Children program too. The age of retirement is sixty–five. It was set to that age
because in the 1930s it was the age chosen for contemporary practice. In that time the life

Abramovitz (2003) states, "To a large extent, the history of social services and social welfare policy
consists of the evolving recognition of social needs and the organization of society to meet them" (p.
130). The United States has the highest rates of poverty in the Western world; surprisingly the
United States is the richest nation in the world. In 1964, Lyndon B. Johnson introduced the War on
Poverty. His approach was to expand the government's role in the citizen's education and health
care, which in return would ensure that Americans had the most basic resources to meet their needs.

Liberal (The Left)
Liberals are known for their "bleeding hearts," they want to help everyone, especially those in
poverty. Liberals believe being poor is not an individual decision, but from outside conditions that
have affected the individual. Liberals accepts the concepts of a free market and acknowledge that
there will always be inequity. Lewis & Winderquist (2002) state, "Liberals contend that inadequate
demand for labor and low human capital often force individuals into unemployment and poverty."
Due to these circumstances Liberals view the government intervening as necessary. Liberals,
alongside Conservatives believe that education is imperative to successfully transitioning into the
economy. Liberals thrive for higher education for the marginalized individuals. Liberals believe that
with higher education, unemployed or marginalized citizens are able to compete for higher paying
jobs which will remove them from their current economic status over time. This in return promotes
individual enhancement and eventually large social change. Liberals are all for community
development and change programs. They want the disenfranchised to thrive in society. They want to
provide resources and referrals for those in need. Liberals belief is that

funds running out. The fear of the people is that he government's funds will be bankrupt when those
people try to retire. Already a quarter of most Americans believe that they will receive no benefits
from social security; what can we do about the social security problem? The reason that the problem
is occurring is because of pay–as–you–go financing, demographic changes, the adoption of wage–
indexing of the benefit formula in the 1970s. Due to the baby boomer generation, there are more
americans retiring than ever. The younger generation has to pay for the older people retiring, but the

Social Media And Its Impact On Writing And Receiving...
Part A: Email /Text Problems
The current technological age that uses the social media has led various problems in writing and
receiving emails/texts. The biggest problem is not getting any part of a message from the text or
email; understanding of the message is the greatest problem. This can be attributed to the receiving
of incomprehensible and poorly arranged words and messages. The problem of using slang in
writing and receiving texts is a menace. The use of such slang terms like SMH (shaking my head)
among others, makes communication unofficial and only understood by a certain group of people
(Heather & Graves, 2012).

Examples of components made using this process include gears and bearings (Kaushish, 2008).
The steps involved in powder metallurgy include production of powders, powder mixing,
compaction, sintering and finally secondary operations. Powder production is the first step, and it
involves the application of different methods (such as grinding or atomization) to obtain powders
from metals or non–metals. The powder's chemical composition, size and shape are analyzed
(Kaushish, 2008). Powders are usually potential hazards, such as being flammable, and thus they
should be handled with safety precaution.
Mixing of powders usually involves the addition of alloying elements, pressing lubricant, binders,
and other substances. The uniform distribution of the particles is emphasized in order to obtain a
processed part with uniform density. Compaction involves forming the mixed powder into a
compact of desirable shape and size. Whereby, the powder is pressed in a rigid enclosure which
comprises of die and punches. Sintering involves using a protective atmosphere to heat the compact
to a temperature below the melting point of the major constituent. The secondary operations are
finally used to obtain a good finish.
Conclusively, powder metallurgy is a crucial manufacturing process that enables the production of
components which cannot be produced

The Problem Of Social Media
In the wake of the recent attacks in Paris and increasing manmade and natural disasters around the
world, the ability to communicate with citizens during times of crisis is more important than ever. It
is no longer appropriate to limit the output of emergency information to the traditional delivery
methods. Social media use continues to grow at a staggering pace. As of January 2014, 74% of
online adults use social networking sites (Pew Research Center, n.d.). The large percentage adults
who utilize social networks daily makes their use by government agencies essential. It is no longer
acceptable for Dane County Emergency Management not have a social media presence. With our
current messaging system and strategies, we are being unheard by a large portion of our county's
population. This is particularly true with young adults who reside in our county, as their primary
source of information is through social media. By continuing our trend of no social media use, our
county is putting lives at risk in times of emergencies, when rapid, accurate information dispersal is
of the utmost importance. The strengths of social media use are well documented. No longer can
officials within the county label its rise in usage as a trend. One of the most powerful attributes of
social media is its ability to be accessed with a mobile device. In regards to emergency management,

  • 3. Social Problems Of Social Class Social classes are categories individuals are put into based on income, lifestyles, opportunities, job occupations, behaviors, and attitudes. Virtually all societies have a class system, and America is no exception. To prevent mixing of class systems "Class boundaries are maintained by limiting social interaction, intermarriage, and mobility into another class" (Tischler, 2014, P.181). How many social classes exist in American society is debatable, however many believe that there is only five. The five American social classes are upper class, upper–middle class, middle–middle class, lower–middle class, and lower class. The first class is the upper class, which consist of wealthy individuals who maintain an exclusive lavish lifestyle. This class has a great influence on the majority of society's primary political and economic structures. Those in the upper class like to be separate from other classes, and do this by having, and belonging to prestigious private schools and clubs. The upper class is relatively small, "It is estimated that in the United States, the upper class consist of from 1 to 3 percent of the population" (Tischler, 2014, P.181). Modern day people of the upper class can be represented by entrepreneurs, such as William Gates, Warren Buffet, Mark Zuckerberg, or Larry Ellison. The next class is the upper–middle class, people in this class are usually successful professional and business people as well as their families, and are just below the upper class, ... • 5. Social Problems In Sunflower County A social problem is a condition that at least some people in a community would deem as being undesirable. A social problem is also a condition 'created' by a society that is can usually be alleviated or solved by society. According to our textbook, Social Problems: Reading with Four Questions, there are three criteria that a problem must meet in order to be a social problem. First of all, the problem must be social in origin and caused by social factors. The more its causes are social, the more it becomes a social problem. Next, the problem must be harmful to many individuals. Finally, in order to be considered a social problem, it should harm society in a sense that it threatens what we believe society should be. There are three theoretical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Poverty would be considered a social problem because it affects a great number of people and can be detrimental to society. The unemployment rate in Sunflower County averaged at 12.4%, which is much higher than the overall unemployment rate in Mississippi at 7.2%. Sunflower County is also one of the poorest counties in the states and one of the poorest in the United States. 36.1% of people living in Sunflower County are below the poverty level. This isn't counting those who are struggling or those wavering right about the poverty line. The overall poverty rate for Mississippi is 22.7%. One factor that could contribute to poverty in Sunflower County is the lack of education. Many school districts in Sunflower County have been put under the conservatorship of the Mississippi Department of Education due to academic and financial reasons. 70.2% of Sunflower County residents graduate from high school and only 13% have obtained their Bachelor's Degree. Another factor could be that there are more white collar jobs than blue collar jobs. Undereducated individuals would not qualify for many white collar jobs leaving them without employment. There are many steps that could be taken to help prevent or solve the poverty issue in Sunflower County. They could encourage residents to graduate and further their education, whether it is in college or a certificate program. If there are more white collar jobs, they will ... The research will look into several historical factors that contributed to voting rights inequalities and how the society has evolved to solve issues related to the right to vote. The main contemporary federal policy that will be examined is the amendments that have been made to the voting acts which empowered states to decide and make judgments on who is eligible to vote. The research will look into how this undermines the rights to vote in our modern society. In particular, the research will focus on the amendment made on the 1965 voting rights act that internationally defined eligibility of a voter with the inclusion of minority groups. A ruling made by the Supreme Court in 2013 gave power to states to determine and register eligible voters. This in my opinion, and from data collected from different articles gave states a chance to create more restrictions on voting rights. Social welfare associations think that beneficiaries of such laws have created a status quo which results in discrimination. The research will look at the impact of such contemporary policies and examine its effect on voting rights and societal perception of inequality. Human rights and justice–oriented framework. • 9. The Problem Of Social Psychology Social psychology is the study of how people think, feel, and act as a result of being present among others. At times, a direct contact is not required to fully influence a person. The imagined or implied presence of others is sufficient to carry out a full effect on another person. Examples to portray how the impact of others can have an authority over the way we function socially can be found almost anywhere around us. The media is filled with many examples from recent headlines that may offer an illustration of this phenomenon. In recent news, the National Public Radio (NPR), a non–profit membership media organization, aired an interview discussing Syria 's bloody civil war. With more than four million people who have fled the country thus far, it has easily been named one of the worst refugee situations in history. Millions more have also been displaced within Syria. Although we rarely hear from the people inside, NPR was able to air an interview it conducted with one of the citizens who lives in the broken country. Saeed al–Batal, a photographer and filmmaker who did not use his real name for security reasons, reveals how horrific the experiences currently are in Syria. In this paper, the transcript of the interview will be used portray how, even when situations are clearly appalling and catastrophic, the presence of others effects people's contributions and willingness to help. Although stress can help motivate people to do their homework, it could also cause anxiety if it is severe enough(Kahn para. 1). There is no exact cause of social anxiety, but scientists think it is environmental and genetic factors combined(Higuera para. 4). Some conditions that can cause people to have social anxiety are worrying about being judged, being the center of attention, being in situations with strangers, and avoiding talking to people because they feel like they are going to be embarrassed("Social" para. 5). Genetics and seeing a lot of anxious behavior can cause social anxiety; however, it is not certain how it is related to social anxiety("Social" para. 10). Even though social anxiety can run in families, scientists are not sure how it is actually linked to genes(Higuera para. 6). Whenever people are around their families frequently, they learn to react the same way their family members do which can lead to social anxiety(Higuera para. 6). When people notice a great deal of anxious behavior around them, they could catch on and start acting the same way(Nordqvist para. 16). • 15. The Social Problem Of Social Problems 1.0.0 SOCIAL PROBLEM The term "social problem" cannot be comprehensively defined without understanding the meaning of social itself before joining problem. 1.0.1 SOCIAL The word social comes from the Latin socius meaning "friend." When you 're being social, you 're everyone 's friend. Go to a social, or mixer and you might make a lot of new friends. Stand in the corner pouting, however, and you 're being anti–social. Humans are described as social being ones that tend to move or live in groups together, Social is relating to society or it is organization, needing companionship and therefore best suited to living in communities", relating to or designed for activities in which people meet each other for pleasure. Cambridge dictionary defined social as relating to activities in which you meet and spend time with other people and that happen during the time when you are not working: 1.0.2 PROBLEM Problem is a condition of discontentment resented by someone. But when it is resented on many people, it becomes a social problem. For a problem to be social, it must involve a large number of people, sometimes groups and institutions who consider a particular condition as undesirable and intolerable and want to it to be corrected through collective effort or action. • 17. Social Class Is An Ongoing Problem Social class is an ongoing problem in education, especially for those living on the lower end of the divide. More than one in five of Scotland's children are living in poverty. In this essay I will consider why social class is an ongoing problem, its influence on wellbeing and achievement, and propose ways in which we can attempt to combat these issues. This will be accomplished with reference to concepts, theories and the scenarios detailed in appendix A, B and C. According to Bourdieu 's highly influential theory of cultural reproduction, children from middle class families are more advantaged in gaining qualifications due to their possession of cultural capital (Lamont & Lareau, 2011). Cultural capital can be defined as a deeply ingrained knowledge of society's high culture and taste, behaviours, linguistic cues and the education system. Cultural reproduction refers to the transmission of these aforementioned cultural values and norms between the generations. This can only be produced by family upbringing in the home (Bourdieu & Passeron, 1990). This transition enormously influences children's success in school and later in life (Sullivan, 2001). However the distribution of cultural capital is severely inefficient (Bourdieu and Passeron, 1977). Sullivan (2001) applied Bourdieu's theory and found that the working class lack the same cultural capital as the middle class. His research suggests that although working class children can build this knowledge, they will never ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most people that have gotten hurt by people on the internet have said things that aren't nice and hurtful to them. The literature review revolves around this argument. The different topics to be discussed are inclusive of the children capabilities in terms of their social emotional development and skills that children need in order to become problem solvers. The other topic is the methodology which discusses the strategies used in different articles, the classroom environment and the action of teachers as models following their professional development from their training to coaching activities. It involves analysis and logical thinking and also irrational thinking through ways such as fantasy and play. Creativity is ideally not a requirement in problem solving but creative production is a situation that needs problem solving. Individuals who are creative are able to solve problems in a more innovative, appropriate manner and high quality. Art activities help children face technical, interpersonal and contextual problems, following critical thinking skills the children can make choices among a variety of possible solutions (Pitri, E. 2013). Children who solve problems using creative thinking skills to solve problems are usually focused on the task and they continuously define new problems and can ask questions out loud. Problem solving skills and reasoning create a foundation for the learning of a lifetime. • 23. Social Problems Of The Social Problem One major social problem that concerns me is social division. Social divisions include but are not limited to: gender, race, class, identity, language barriers, and geographical locations. They are often separated into categories of people. Ex. Homeless, elderly, sex offenders, single parents, disabilities, children, teens, etc. In today's time, we seem to point the finger on everyone else rather than taking the blame ourselves and it is not surprising to see that the majority is being accused on young people in particular. With the rate of crime and increasing amount of teen suicide, this can be easy to point the finger at them. However, we all share the responsibility of the social problems at hand. We all disrupt social order for our own pleasing. With the busyness of life we do not stop and take the time needed to acknowledge the needs of others. We lose the incentive we once had to care for others for a mere moment of pleasure we may receive. And due to that mere moment of pleasure, we come open the door of diversity, social justice, and at–risk populations. The young people of today's society are more at risk then the elderly. The young are the next generations to come. More and more youth are suffering from psychological problems and are lacking incentive and failure to thrive. They are a social state that disturbs society, and they are detrimental to society. There are four stages to a social problem: public outcry, crafting an official response, reaction to official response, and developing alternative strategies to solve problem. These stages run in a cycle and happen over and over again depending upon what the public is upset about. When you have a social problem, it affects many people in the society. Some examples of social problems are drug abuse, poverty, world population, and suicide. All of these problems affect a mass amount of people in a grim way therefore ... About < .5% of women have an abortion due to rape, 3% due to fetal health problems, 4% due to physical health problems, and 4% said it would interfere with their education and/or career. Another 7% said they were not mature enough to raise a child, 8% said they didn 't want to be a single mother, and 19% stated that they were done having children. Two main reasons that women have an abortion is that they cannot afford to have a baby (23%) and that they are not ready to have a child (25%). Because of women's differing circumstances, congress made the decision to legalize abortion. They wanted all women to have a choice when their life is at stake, they were raped, or when incest occured. Why is This Problem a Social Problem Abortion is a social problem because it affects many people in society. Whether you have had an abortion yourself, a family member has, or even a friend; it affects you no matter what. Many people care about this topic, and that also makes it a social problem. Social Problems Within The Australian Society A Social Analysis – Homelessness There are a growing number of social problems existing within the Australian society and unfortunately, research does not need to prove this. All it takes is a stroll down the main street of some suburbs to realise the extent of social problems within society. Homelessness is a rising trend that is affecting people of all demographics. Homelessness is more than just a simple disadvantage; with usually many underpinning factors which contribute to it, such as domestic violence, financial stress, mental illness and drug use. Homelessness is an issue around the globe, however when focusing on the issue within an Australian context – it stems back quite a long way. In the 1970's, Australia rediscovered ... In addition to this, it is believed that domestic violence is a primary cause for homelessness particularly amongst women and children. (Ultius, 2017) A whole issue within itself is the accessibility to social housing for vulnerable Australians, with many families needing to seek short–term or crisis accommodation due to the lack of availabilities within the social housing sector, and for those who are able to obtain housing within the private sector often fall victim to private landlords as they display forms of power when rent falls into arears. These people then become victims within the private market, often becoming 'blacklisted' by landlords and their agents. It is believed that private renters who attempt to advocate for their rights are often locked out of their premises due to "disruptive behaviour." While differences in racial/ethnic prejudices have been explored extensively in past literature (e.g. Bobo and Zubrinksy's 1996, study of differential prejudices directed toward Hispanic and Black individuals), little U.S. research has investigated how attitudes toward lesbians, gays, bisexual men, bisexual women, and male–to–female (MtF) and female–to– male (FtM) transgender (henceforth "LGBT") may differ ( Marcus, 2015). Social justice that is face among the LGBT is discrimination. Variations in family structures include single–parent families, step families, blended families, and intergenerational families. Lesbian, gay, and bisexual families experience a special risk of discrimination.A major problem gay people face is homophobia–an extreme and irrational fear of lesbian and gay people simply because they are lesbian and gay. In my family, my mother used to be extremely shy among others when she was in high school. She had a few friends, and, in addition to that, had some case of social anxiety. Often ignored by others, she refused to give up. Throughout time, she improved immensely and now has a multitudinous amount of friends. • 37. The Social Studies Problem Solving Processes Essay ) What is meta–cognition in social studies? Using three examples explain the social studies problem solving processes. Meta–cognition in social studies is said to be the ability to use prior knowledge to plan a strategy for approaching a learning task, take necessary steps to problem solving, reflect and evaluate results and modify one's approach as needed. It can also be said to be awareness of one's own knowledge, what one does and doesn't know, and one's ability to understand, control and manipulate one's cognitive processes. Meta–cognition can therefore be defined as the knowledge and control people have over their thinking and learning activities. It involves "thinking about thinking" that is to say, the knowledge and control people have their own thinking and learning activities. In relation to the acquisition of critical thinking skills, meta–cognition refers to what a learner knows about his/her thinking processes, (conscious awareness) and the ability to control these processes by planning, choosing and monitoring. Literally, therefore, meta–cognition means "big thinking". EXAMPLES OF SOCIAL STUDIES SOLVING PROCESS. Problem solving process in social studies is defined as cognitive processing that is mental functioning and thinking directed at achieving a goal when a solution method is obvious to the problem solver. The processes or steps involved in problem solving are; (1) Definition or identification of problem. (2) Analyze the problem (determine or guess the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Trafficking is a social problem that affects the victims, their families, and even the society. The wrongdoers of this crime will use any means necessary of extreme defrauding and manipulation to conquer and control their victims. Human trafficking is a social problem because it can impact individuals in many ways. One way that human trafficking can impact individuals is psychologically (mental health), it can impact the healthy and mindset of the victims. Human Trafficking affects all genders but especially women and children and forces them into prostitution or other types of exploitation. In order to solve them, we must first look for them. Tara Hardinge is my Sociology professor. During her lecture, she stated that "Social problem it is a social condition that a part of society view as dangerous or harmful to members of society and there is a need to cure or remedy it" (Hardinge 2015). • 49. Social Problems Perpetuated Essays Throughout United States history, power of the upper class has been maintained by assigning "different" people a lower, less desirable, place in society, predisposing them to social inequalities. Social stratification creates a system of social classes in which people born into a specific class have different "life chances" (Macionis 28). These classes are somewhat maintained by the fact that people tend to "take care of their own," meaning that members of the upper class generally favor other members of the upper class and offer opportunities for advancement in society to those they feel most similar to (Doran). This means that the number of people falling below the poverty is increased, therefore the number of people predisposed to the various social problems associated with lower socioeconomic status, is also increased. It is difficult for those in a lower socioeconomic class to overcome social problems. In fact, many times social inequality perpetuates social problems that created the inequality in the first place. Robert K. Merton's Theory of Deviance explains that those in a lower socioeconomic class are not given the same advantages and opportunities as others, and must obtain the "American Dream" through alternate methods than that of those in a higher socioeconomic class. This creates a strain on the lower class that is not present in the upper class, and often leads to deviant and criminal behavior (Merton 179). A person with a criminal record experiences an increased social stigma that further prevents them from obtaining legitimate employment, thus creating a strain that may perpetuate their initial problems and result in repeated criminal actions. Another area where social problems may actually be perpetuating the social inequality that created the problem in the first place is racial, ethnic, and gender inequality. In an effort to overcome these inequalities, the government created programs such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this paper, I analyzed six different articles from various sources. I chose cyber crime as my topic because I have an interest in computers and coding. I also like to watch documentaries and a television show on cybercrime scene investigations. Analyzing articles on this topic will help me develop further knowledge on this topic and how it is considered a social problem in our society. Computer crime refers to any violation of the law in which a computer is the target or means of criminal activity (Mooney, Knox, & Schacht, 2014, p.113). Computer crime is also known as cybercrime. Cybercrime continues to have far reaching effects because it affects individuals, companies, and organizations and is increasingly a problem in the globalized world we live in. This is because we rely so much on cell–phones, computers, and us many social network sites. Cybercrime is considered a social problem because it negatively affects a large group of people in our society. In 2014, there were 1.5 million cyber attacks worldwide ("IBM Cyber Security Intelligence Index," 2015, pg.13). One type of computer crime is identity theft. Identity theft is the use of someone else's personal information to obtain credit or other economic rewards (Mooney, et al, 2014, pg.113). • 62. Social Problems And The Social Problem To study some social problems, one may have to take a social constructionist approach. That is to say that taking this approach could be problematic because it is a function of social interaction. They aren 't immediately obvious but should be interpreted. Take into consideration texting and driving. Many believe it is horrible and those people who commit the crime should be punished. It did not always used to be this way and in some places is not looked at in such fashion. When we objectively label the creation of social problems, we focus on the measure of the characteristics of the conditions. They do induce material and psychic suffering. Objectively labeling the creation of social problems means that we may induce material and psychic suffering. Questions that may arise are what could be the standards and who exactly is defining the problem. SPPM stands for the social problems process model. It consists of claims–making, media coverage, public reaction, policy making, social problems work and policy outcome. We use these we steps to get the public 's perceptions and use different tools to gain their reactions. Claims are things that deal with a social issue. The people who feel that an issue is wrong are claims makers. For example, as stated above believing that drunk driving is horrible and should be punished is a claim. As the years progressed, smoking became more and more acceptable. Nazis aggressively tried to suppress tobacco usage but their ban fell with them, as during World War II and the immediate postwar years, smoking was actively promoted in most aspects of society. One only has to review the movies of the '50s and '60s to see that in almost every scene the hero or the heroine is smoking a cigarette. Even, King James's attacks on smoking over 3 centuries ago (Eckholm, 1977) have been vindicated. As a result of this, the tobacco companies and society have been very effective in promoting smoking as being socially acceptable. • 66. Social Problems In Prison Define social problems. A social problem is something that society or certain groups in society see as threat or disruption to the "system." Prison system: Examine and give three solutions to help fix the prisons. The prison system was designed to house criminals. I see no true form of rehabilitation or programs in place to help inmates merge back into society. My first initiative would be for all inmates to get some form of training and education. Although this already offered, I would ensure that they receive a quality education that they can actually use in society. My second correction to the prison system would be the mindsets of the inmates. When you place a lot of prisoners in one confined space, you are ultimately producing negativity and feeding into the idea of a "closed mindset." Placing them behind bars and closed doors can impose the idea that "I am an animal, and I will never have another chance at life." Instead, I would have intervention programs and "real talk" counseling to get the inmates to truly question their existence and how some of their behaviors could be corrected. Lastly, I would separate violent and nonviolent offenders. Many prisoners are placed together without much examination of their records. This creates "friction," and leads to a hostile environment. I would have the inmates placed according to the infractions committed, and I am sure that there will be less reports of prison violence. Should Donald Trump be impeached? There has ... Social Security is an insurance plan the working class earns their beneficial coverage due to their work hours and tax paying on their earnings. The program is for the disabled and for those who can longer work due to health issues, or because of the retirement age that is required to have reached and some have met. To solve the social security dilemma some of the actions that could be taken into consideration could be to: 1) gradually increase the retirement age for the full age of benefits to thirty–one percent, 2) reduce the cost of living adjustment by half of a percentage point making it to forty percent, 3) reduce benefits by five percent, and 4) using "progressive indexing" to reduce benefits for future retirees to thirty–one percent. Although social security was just used as a retirement program at first, it changed in 1939 to also benefit survivors and the retiree 's spouse and children, and in 1956 disability benefits were also added to the Social Security Act. In the original 1935 law, it was stated to contain the first ever national unemployment compensation program, served as an aid to states for several health and welfare programs, and to Aid to Dependent Children program too. The age of retirement is sixty–five. It was set to that age because in the 1930s it was the age chosen for contemporary practice. In that time the life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His approach was to expand the government's role in the citizen's education and health care, which in return would ensure that Americans had the most basic resources to meet their needs. Although there has been a one third decline in poverty since 1967, America continues to struggle to maintain the most basic necessities to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Liberals believe being poor is not an individual decision, but from outside conditions that have affected the individual. Liberals accepts the concepts of a free market and acknowledge that there will always be inequity. Lewis & Winderquist (2002) state, "Liberals contend that inadequate demand for labor and low human capital often force individuals into unemployment and poverty." Due to these circumstances Liberals view the government intervening as necessary. Liberals, alongside Conservatives believe that education is imperative to successfully transitioning into the economy. Liberals thrive for higher education for the marginalized individuals. Liberals believe that with higher education, unemployed or marginalized citizens are able to compete for higher paying jobs which will remove them from their current economic status over time. This in return promotes individual enhancement and eventually large social change. Liberals are all for community development and change programs. They want the disenfranchised to thrive in society. • 78. The Problem Of Social Media In the wake of the recent attacks in Paris and increasing manmade and natural disasters around the world, the ability to communicate with citizens during times of crisis is more important than ever. It is no longer appropriate to limit the output of emergency information to the traditional delivery methods. Social media use continues to grow at a staggering pace. The large percentage adults who utilize social networks daily makes their use by government agencies essential. It is no longer acceptable for Dane County Emergency Management not have a social media presence. With our current messaging system and strategies, we are being unheard by a large portion of our county's population.
