Students are learning the foundational skills of writing in Polish, including learning letters, spelling rules, and putting words together into sentences. The process starts with short, simple sentences and builds up to writing longer texts and stories. While some pick up writing skills easily, others continue to make mistakes. By the end of their schooling, students are assessed on their writing ability in a nationwide examination.

2. Students from the first grade are learning to write.

4. Learning how to write each letter isn’t dificult.

6. The difficult part of the Polish language is learning the rules of spelling – especially the
words with letters: rz, ż, ó, u, ch, h. This pairs of letters are pronounced identically, but are
written using different signs.

17. In the third grade, students create by themselves short stories. Before writing
them down, the students learn how to build a coherent story during many
oral exercises.

20. When filling the gaps in the
text, they have to make up
an entire sentence, not
just a single word.

21. Students are learning the rules
of proper spelling. They use the
dictionary.

22. Students learn to write short stories following the plan they create, they also
learn to describe picture and write invitations.

24. Some students write without mistakes, but some students make quite a lot of them.

their school they do an
examination test. In
this test we can assess
their skills, including
writing. We can
comapre our results
across the whole
