1. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? Looking back at your
preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
From our media project I already known the basic of how to use a camera and how to use the editing machine as I had done
media in gcse, but not everyone is our media group had so we had to make sure everyone understand how to use all the
machinery. The two boys in the group were the ones being in the video so me and Christie decided we would do the film
and majority of editing. The camera are every simple to use but from making our project we tried out different camera
movements as then we would have a variety. We have learnt how to edit the music as then it would go quieter whilst there
was dialogue in the clip and once the dialogue was over to bring back up the music volume. We had filmed all of our project
in widescreen in the camera and when we then export the footage over to the computer some where along the way our
footage went to a smaller screen and the footage was all small and didn’t fit the screen as it should of, we had clip the wrong
setting when we first opened a document in premier pro. We was a minute in when we realised what we had done do we
had to restart all of our editing again which did set us back a few lessons but Christie and myself managed to stay behind in
own time to resolve the problem.
When watching other film opening within the same genre we liked the idea of introducing the characters to the audience as then
they would know who was who we planned on stilling the image of the shit and then have a zoom in on there face and have
a freeze whilst they was speaking. This turned out to be a lot harder than we though it would be and it didn’t give of a good
effect like we had planned. We learnt how to take a freeze shot of the clips we had film and then have them stay froze for
ten seconds whilst the introducing of the character was being made. Within in the editing machine you can have effect to
fade in from clip to clip but we thought that it wouldn’t be appropriate within the film genre we have chosen.
From our preliminary task I have learnt that we need to plan our filming sessions before so we know what we are doing and we
actually have something done at the end of sessions. From doing our preliminary which was in one lesson we had to plan
and film then edit all in one lesson, which was a struggle. From this we learnt that if you try and put your mind to it you can
do it in a short period of time but it wouldn’t be as good as if we had more time to plan it and think about what we are
doing each lesson. With the preliminary task gave us enough time to do our video and edit it all but it didn’t give us chance
to experiment with the camera to try out different camera movements. So within filming our two minute opening we have
been able to try out different things so when it comes to editing we have different cuts and able to add different effects if
we needs to as we had more time to play around than we did with the preliminary.
