This type of repetition is very common in blues composition and often resembles a form of story
telling as blues music often provides an additional narrative within the song usually dealing with the
hardships of life. Similar to the drums, the remainder of the instruments come together to create
tension, which is then followed by release. The guitar often works in unison with the vocals, acting
as a lead in the composition. Lastly, blues songs are usually set up in a 12–bar–structure, which is
divided into three segments of four bars. These 12 bars are generally made up of three chords,
whose main notes are based on the first, fourth, and fifth notes of an eight–note–scale. Additionally,
one may find certain notes that are slightly flatted, which are known as "blue notes". Blues songs are
typically played in a 4/4 time signature, meaning that four beats are found in each measure.

Téa Obreht's story "Blue Water Djinn" shows us a young boy's development in maturity through the
involvement of adult situations that occur in the story. The story begins with the boy, Jack, waking
up to the concern of a hotel guest's disappearance. The locals call this guest, the Frenchman.
Frenchman's clothes get located near the beach however Frenchman is nowhere being found. Fawad,
one of Jack's father–figures in the story; however, warns Jack about the made up mysterious creature
that lives out in the sea designed to keep Jack out of trouble. Jack 's awareness of the mysterious
creature, called djinn, leads Jack to picture Frenchman's missing is affected by the djinn. During the
investigation of Frenchman's disappearance, Jack tends to be involved in adult situations. The story

her own, she is doing an extremely honorable act as well as keeping her in tact with her direct
origins. When a child is adopted, they tend to think they are unwanted; adoption leaves a huge scar

I never could have thought in a million years something this petrifying could happen to me. My
favorite place in the whole world, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, turned into one full of
sorrow. As I dove to catch the fluorescent green tennis ball, hot white sand flew up onto my body.
My dad, wearing his favorite floral swim trunks, responded with a typical, "Nice catch, Zako!" I

some very important messages; water is a necessary component of all human beings, and its supply
is running out faster than we are able to replenish the source. We are mining almost 15 times more
groundwater than the amount is being replenished. We are polluting our natural source, destroying
habitats (e.g. wetlands), and obstructing rivers that fertile lands.
Water Wars encourages us to save water and help out in this water crisis. Also helps us understand

from the government to privatize the water of certain areas. As an example presented in the

The documentary, Blue Gold, World Water Wars, was a dramatic depiction of the prognosis of our
ability to sustain life on the earth if we don't take very seriously the natural resource of water. The
movie by Sam Bozzo was released in 2008 and is based on the book Blue Gold: The Fight to Stop
the Corporate Theft of the World's Water by Maude Barlow and Tony Clarke. The movie opens with
a dramatic display of what happened to Pablo Valencia who in 1906 walked from Mexico to
California in search of gold. He survived without water for 7 days and documented the experience.

While growing up Michael Dorris never encountered a Native American literary character that he
could relate too, and being of Modoc Tribe of California descent, this was something that was very
important to him. After graduating from Georgetown University, and earning a Master's Degree at
Yale, Dorris began to create these characters and ideas that he had longed for himself during
childhood. He married his literary partner, Louise Erdrich, who was also of Native American
descent. They had three children together, plus the three that Dorris had adopted, all of which were
born on Native American reservations. All three of his adopted children suffered from fetal alcohol
syndrome. During a twenty year period before Dorris' death, he published fourteen books and over
one hundred articles. In 1987 he published his first novel "A Yellow Raft in Blue Water." "A Yellow
Raft in Blue Water" is divided into three sections narrated by three different Native American
women: Rayona, Christine and Ida. All three of these women are all related. Rayona is the daughter
of Christine, and Christine believes she is the daughter of Ida, but Ida is actually her half–sister and

Smith was unlucky in her marriage but found a stable relationship with Richard Morgan with whom
she was traveling when she died in a car accident in Clarksdale, Mississippi.
Charley Patton is known as the father of the delta Blue. His official year of birth is unknown but is
speculated to be between 1887, 1891. He wasn't born in the Mississippi Delta however, his family
moved there and he spent much of his life there. I believe his Blues came from the fact he was of
mixed heritage having black, Cherokee Nation and certainly not in the dominant whit culture. His
family moved to the Dockery Plantation which was renowned for its favorable treatment of it
sharecroppers and lenience on the musical indulgences of its residents. At the Dockery Plantation,
Patton and other gave birth to the Delta Blues. He learned from a man named Henry Sloan who
played what is viewed as an early Blues style. He influenced many other artists at the Dockery
plantation including younger protégé's like Robert Johnson and Howling Wolf. Although Patton as
of diminutive stature, he had a gritty, growly voice of a much bigger man which is said to have
influenced the distinctive raspy voice of Wolf.
The moniker "Muddy Waters" was given to him by his grandmother who was observed that he loved
playing in the less than clear water of the creek near their home. He was influenced early by Robert

Introduction:
During lab, we put the metal copper under different circumstances so that we could gain a better
understanding as to what goes on in the copper cycle. Throughout each stage of the copper cycle, we
deduced what type of chemical reaction took place based on observation, made observations about
the state of the metal and what type of environment it was subjected to, and determined what the net
ionic equation was for each stage. Following the experiment, we calculated what the percent yield
was and compared the changes in mass from the initial stage to the final stage.
Materials and Methods:
First, we assembled a fume hood by using a ring stand, a hot plate, a 50 ml beaker, an iron ring to
secure the beaker, and a plastic funnel hooked up to rubber tubing and an aspirator. A hose from the
sink was then connected to the aspirator and the pressure that the water created allowed the fume
hood to remove whatever excess gas was given off during the experiment. In cycle step one, we
placed approximately 250 mg of copper into the 50 ml beaker then added 6 ml of HNO_3. We then
heated the plate to 10° C until the reaction took place to save time. We would recommend heating
the plate initially at 20 C in order to speed up the experiment. The solution was at 11 ml total at the
