Moana ( HJA ) Stages In The Movie Moa
One occurrence of the Hero Journey Archetype (HJA) stages being utilized in the movie Moana can
be observed towards the beginning of the story with HJA Stage 2 "Call to Adventure."According to
Campbell as cited and explained by Vogler, ''The hero is presented with a problem, challenge or
adventure. Maybe the land is dying, as in the King Arthur stories about the search for the Grail''(1).
This suggests that stories which follow the HJA pattern usually have a hero drawn to adventure that
is completely unfamiliar to their ordinary world. The author or director does this to show
foreshadow what the hero will eventually do; their adventure. An example of this stage in the movie
Moana directed by Ron Clements was when Moana desperately wants to go past the reef. She wants
to help people by going on a voyage however, her dad wants her to stay. All her life, Moana felt
called to the water. This scene introduces the audience to how Moana longs to go on an journey,
which fits the HJA ''Stage Call to Adventure.'' Another incidence of the Hero Journey Archetype
(HJA) stages being present in the movie The Lightning Thief can be seen towards the beginning of
the movie with HJA Stage 2 "Call to Adventure."According to Campbell as cited and explained by
Vogler, ''The hero is presented with a problem, challenge or adventure. Maybe the land is dying, as
in the King Arthur stories about the search for the Grail ''(1). This demonstrates that stories which

My Six Fundamental Pillars Of Character
1. Loyalty. I chose loyalty as my first pillar of my "Six Fundamental Pillars of Character" because
loyalty has been something I have cherished for my entire life. I believe being a loyal friend and/or
family member is the most important characteristic for anyone to have. I believe this because if one
does not have loyalty, what is their purpose? Loyalty is important to me because I personally want
loyalty from others, so I provide loyalty to others. I have always lived my life on the concept that
"you get what you put in." In response to that, I am loyal to others with hope that others will be
loyal to me. This pillar is most important in my relationship with Kylee. I am loyal to Kylee, as she
is loyal to me. Without loyalty in our relationship, our feelings for each other would not be as
strong, if present at all. Honesty. – Honesty is most important to someone who is seeking the
characteristic of loyalty. One who is dishonest, is not a loyal person. To be loyal, you must be
entrusted to tell the truth and nothing but the truth at all times. Educated. – One who is loyal, must
be educated enough to be someone to rely one. If someone wants to be trusted but is not wise
enough to treat their trust correctly, they are not loyal. The loyal person must know how to take
things into perspective and know how to relate to the situation and act accordingly. Dedicated. – To
be loyal, one must be dedicated to their characteristic. They must be success driven, timely and
organized in EVERY situation. If the loyal person is only loyal to one person, or in only some
situations, they are not truly a loyal person. Kind. – A loyal person must also be kind enough to be
approachable. If a person isn't kind enough to be approached, they cannot be labelled as loyal,
because they aren't given the chance to prove they are. But, at the same time they must also be
realistic, and know how to help. 2. Safe. My second pillar is my characteristic of safety. I believe I
have lived my life safely, but also just as freely and exciting as well. Safety is an important
characteristic to me because I think not having this characteristic is dangerous. To live a healthy life,
one must know how to stay safe. I believe I have

Identity And Identity In Joseph Kestner's Treasure Island
Joseph Kestner is quoted saying, "In Treasure Island, Hawkins is forced to achieve an identity, but
this process is riddled with ambiguity, including the fact that Jim commits murder and remains
haunted by the experience as a nightmare,"(______). He specializes in masculinity theory from
novels written in the late nineteenth century. Kestner can relate Jim because he is forced to become a
new person, kill a human to save his own life, and questions why situations happen. Wyeth suggests
that Jim will take on a courageous mysterious journey by using Jim's poses, gender roles, darkness,
and specific details to portray his maturation throughout the novel, thereby suggesting that we are all
subject to transitions that are inevitable. Also, Stevenson and Wyeth use text and images that do not
correlate how they should, which can confuse readers and have them wonder why the image was
placed in this book.
Through Jim Hawkin's pose and gender roles, Wyeth portrays Jim's transition from adolescence to a
masculine adulthood. Jim's pose shows that he is unemotional compared to his mother who is
positioned behind him. In this illustration, Jim is shorter than his mother, but Wyeth uses the
technique occlusion to make Jim appear larger than he actually is. Wyeth uses this technique to
demonstrate the importance of Jim, implying that he is clearly the most powerful character. In the
nineteenth century, gender roles were vastly different than they are today; for example, females
acted

Video Game Analysis: Knight's Adventure
My program is written in JavaScript using the App Lab programming environment. It is a game
called, "Knight's Adventure". The purpose of my game is to collect lives, navigate through a maze,
and rescue a princess who is captured by a monster by guessing the secret number. The video shows
the user entering in a username and then they go collect 5 lives by clicking on hearts on the screen,
then they navigate through a maze. They lose lives if they hit the walls on the maze. When they
finish, they have to guess a secret number in order to rescue the princess. Once they do that, the app
is complete and there is a button to play again. I began developing my program by making a
message that would include the name of the user, it would take ... Show more content on

It handles the part of my app where the user has to guess the secret number in order to rescue the
princess. This has three parts: a part for when the secret number is equal to five, when it is greater
than five, and when it is less than five. The first part has an if statement saying that if the
"monsternumber" is equal to five, set the screen to the screen that correlates with the correct secret
number, which has the ID of "saveprincess". This is fundamental to the apps purpose because it
shows and verifies to the user that they have found the secret number. The second part is a while
statement saying that while the "monsternumber" < 5, another prompt will be displayed saying the
string, "Guess higher.". This is fundamental for the app because it is how to user will know that their
guess was too low of a number. The third part is another while saying that while the "monsterscore"
> 5, display another prompt saying the string "Guess lower." This is fundamental for the app
because it shows the user that their guess was too high and they need to go lower. The for block of
code is also fundamental, so that this will repeat twenty times so that they user will be able to
theoretically guess every number between 1 and 20. Because that is what the original task is, guess
the number between 1 and

Winnie The Pooh Archetype
Going on adventures or quests is a repeated theme in Winnie–the–Pooh which uses spontaneity as
part of play in order to have fun. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, playing for adventure
pertains to "senses relating to recreation, pleasure, and enjoyment." Every character in Winnie–the–
Pooh goes on adventures or quests and one adventure that the group goes on is in chapter eight that
is called; "In Which Christopher Robin Leads an Expotition to the North Pole." Christopher Robin is
the only human character who leads the group of animals on an expedition to find the North Pole in
the Hundred Acre Woods. Although the world of the Hundred Acre Woods is a fantasy, the quest of
going to find the North Pole is evoked as being light–hearted fun. When Pooh describes Christopher

The archetype of the Explorer suggests the ability to "find out who you are through exploring the
world" (Golden). Through this archetype, Christopher Robin's identity shifts from being a young
child to an Explorer which ultimately creates the role of being an elder figure to the rest of the group
since he leads the expedition. However, this is challenged when Christopher Robin confronts Rabbit
and says, "It's–I wondered– It's only– Rabbit, I suppose you don't know, What does the North Pole
look like" (122). The Explorer archetype is thus challenged when Christopher Robin pretends to be
able to do something such as lead a group on an expedition. The act of pretending to be an adult
however, is completely lost in chapter nine when Piglet is in his tree surrounded by water and the
first thing that Christopher Robin thinks of is being on a "real island" (Milne 140). Christopher
Robin then repeats that he is on an island to Owl and describes it as being "fun" (Milne 140) without
considering how the abundance of rain could be affecting the other

Heroes In The Odyssey
IMPERFECT HEROES
Odysseus and Moses represent the standard hero, which is one scarred with imperfections–a hero
that commits crimes, lies, deceives, is in some sense immoral. Moses as an adolescent murdered an
Egyptian who was pestering a Hebrew man (Exodus, 45) whereas, Odysseus betrays his faithful
wife by having affairs with several women, such as Calypso and Circe. Odysseus's crave for
adventure and Moses' violence show that both Hebrew culture and Greek culture are accepting of a
tarnished hero only because their gods ordained it. The fact that the hero was an instrument of the
gods was equally important to both cultures. Moses was picked to be the savior of Jews by God. He
was to be the one who would free the Jews and take them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net
...
Thus Moses freed the Jews from slavery and led them to a place where they could settle. Again,
Moses' story is the Jews' story. The specifics of the hero's purpose may change according to their
culture, but the role he plays for the people is the same.
In addition to cultural ideals, the hero's journey is also determined by how each story originated. The
Hebrews passed down Moses and the Exodus orally, in the form of a linear story with a beginning,
middle and end. Moses' linear journey took the Jews out of Egypt, through the desert and to the
Promised Land. In contrast,Homer's poetic writing of the Odyssey is circular in that the ending is a
new beginning. It begins and ends (except for the epilogue) in Odysseus' palace in Ithaca. Like the
story, his journey back home is a circular one. In both cases, the medium is the message.
The major differences between Odysseus and Moses are primarily contextual. They are both made
out of the same "stuff." They are universal heroes who could exist in any culture, context or time.
It's as if there is a generic hero formula, and this still holds true today, and by simply inserting a few
particulars, a fairly accurate biography of a hero can be derived.
THE HERO FORMULA
The first blank to fill in is the hero's past. As a young man, Moses murdered an Egyptian who was
pestering a Jew. A savior who

Jessica Day Essay
Welcome to Bixby, a seemingly normal town in Oklahoma. Possibly a very stereotypical
Midwestern rural community, Bixby is all about dirt roads and country living. What could possibly
be strange about this unexciting place? A group of high school students; Rex, Dess, Melissa, and
Jonathan sure know. They hold the power to walk in the secret 25th hour of the day; one that was
made purely to keep humans out. At exactly 12 AM, the Midnighters have a whole hour to do
whatever they wish. Time freezes and the gang is free to roam the world. In addition to an extra hour
each night, the teens are blessed with powers that are categorized into four groups. Seer, which
grants the Midnighter the ability to see what other Midnighters have touched; Polymath, the power

part, they stay at bay. That is until Jessica Day moves from Chicago. Now the darklings are using all
the power they have to eliminate Jessica, a newcomer to the secret hour. The main problem is, no
one knows why. In the first few chapters, Jessica is astounded by the utmost beauty of the frozen
midnight rain, but she soon discovers the true identity of the secret hour. During her second trip to
the Blue Time, she has to be saved by Rex, Melissa, and Dess who use thirteen letter words and
steel, both of which are things darklings hate. The next day, Rex explains to Jessica how the 25th
hour of each day came to existence, what exactly lives there, who can access it, and the powers that
each of the Midnighters has. None of them can figure out what Jessica's talent is, only that her
ability isn't similar to any of the other Midnighters. Jonathan, who doesn't get along with Rex, shows

The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows
In The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, many of the cases Sherlock Holmes agreed to pursue did
not resolve into acts of violence. He used his intelligence and detective skills to navigate through
problems in order to complete his missions without eruptions of brutality. Although his methods to
execute his assignments pleased the original readers in the 19th Century, they do not seem to spark
the interests of the modern day communities of America. People often disvalue the importance of
consequences because they wish to perform harmful actions, but do not want to engage with the
suffering it brings, therefore, movie directors often contradict and rewrite originals into an ending
they believe is appropriate. Throughout every original investigative tale, Sherlock Holmes solved
his mysteries based on deductive reasoning. He quickly established his tactics in A Scandal in
Bohemia, by stating that he had "both seen and observed" his surroundings (Doyle 3). His partner,
Dr. John H. Watson, described his techniques as "subtle methods by which he disentangles the most
inextricable mysteries" (9). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the first few minutes of the film, Holmes had already participated in a dangerous weapon–
filled act of violence against four other men (Ritchie 00:03:27). Contradictingly to the film, Holmes
expressed his beliefs on violence by quoting the Old Testament (Ecclesiastes 10:8), "Violence does,
in truth, recoil upon the violent, and the schemer falls into the pit which he digs for another" (150).
Accordingly, Holmes believes that when one acts upon ferocity, one shall receive it, which causes
him to sustain his policies. Furthermore, by naming fighting routines, such as: "pillage the nest, clip
wings, blunt beaks, crack eggs, and scramble," the movie continues to gainsay the understated
methods of the aboriginal

Narrative Essay On Lilly Looking Through
Lilly Looking Through introduces us to Lilly, a charming young girl with a bit of a predicament. Her
brother, Row, managed to get himself entangled in what appears to be a magical red scarf which
whisked him away to parts unknown. Lilly immediately sets out to rescue her sibling and while
there are numerous obstacles in her way she does have a rather special set of goggles to help her out.
In the rush of AAA tittles vying for your attention this Christmas season it would be easy to

lonely environments Lilly finds herself exploring. Geeta Games also used two siblings to provide
the voices for Lilly and Row but the limited dialogue means you are never subjected to hearing the
same phrases repeated ad nauseam. I'm sure phrases such as "I can't do that" or "That doesn't seem
to do anything" still haunt the dreams of point and click adventure

The Hero's Journey : Summary of the Steps
The Hero 's Journey : Summary of the Steps
I. Departure
1. The Call to Adventure
The call to adventure is the point in a person 's life when they are first given notice that everything is
going to change, whether they know it or not.
2. Refusal of the Call
Often when the call is given, the future hero refuses to heed it. This may be from a sense of duty or
obligation, fear, insecurity, a sense of inadequacy, or any of a range of reasons that work to hold the
person in his or her current circumstances.
3. Supernatural Aid
Once the hero has committed to the quest, consciously or unconsciously, his or her guide and
magical helper appears, or becomes known.
4. The Crossing of the First Threshold
This is the point ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
10. Apotheosis
To apotheosize is to deify. When someone dies a physical death, or dies to the self to live in spirit,
he or she moves beyond the pairs of opposites to a state of divine knowledge, love, compassion and
bliss. This is a god–like state; the person is in heaven and beyond all strife. A more mundane way of
looking at this step is that it is a period of rest, peace and fulfillment before the hero begins the
return.
11. The Ultimate Boon
The ultimate boon is the achievement of the goal of the quest. It is what the person went on the
journey to get. All the previous steps serve to prepare and purify the person for this step, since in
many myths the boon is something transcendent like the elixir of life itself, or a plant that supplies
immortality, or the holy grail.
III. Return
12. Refusal of the Return
So why, when all has been achieved, the ambrosia has been drunk, and we have conversed with the
gods, why come back to normal life with all its cares and woes?
13. The Magic Flight
Sometimes the hero must escape with the boon, if it is something that the gods have been jealously
guarding. It can be just as adventurous and dangerous returning from the journey as it was to go on
it.
14. Rescue from Without
Just as the hero may need guides and assistants to set out on the quest, often times he or she must
have powerful guides and rescuers to bring them back to everyday life, especially if the person has
been wounded or

Rick Sanchez Characters
The first time I saw "Rick and Morty" was during a long night. I was really bored in bed I couldn't
sleep so I just started to go through the channels and it caught my attention. I love watching cartoons
and so from there on I started watching it for the first time. Watching Rick and Morty Rick was the
cool guy. Rick Sanchez is a cartoon character is distinguished looking, has a unique personality, and
enjoys interesting hobbies
There's lots of things to point out from Rick Sanchez but there are three fitters that are outstanding
appearances. Are is his bright blue spiky hair, that his old but a cool person and his always drooling
because his always drink and doesn't care that his drooling. When I saw Rick the thing that I was
looking at was his blue hair and that is so spiky and that not normal no one has it like that and his a
old mad to have colored hair. Then the second that that you see right away is that his always
drooling and he doesn't care that his drooling, its just there falling off his chin but Rick doesn't care
is there just dripping off his chin then. The last thing is that his old but a cool guy, when you see

could be talking to his nephew Morty from a second, he will get furious then he will show another

boring. The other side of Rick he can be reckless and a genius at sometimes. Rick can be doing
perfect then out of know where he will start to drink and goes on his trip messing around with his
family then just be braking everything he touches. but when his fine and good to go he will bring out
his genius skills out just to prove that his smarter then everyone, that he can prove it to then and let

Analysis Of Film Congo
Paramount Pictures film Congo, adapted from the Michael Crichton novel of the same name, is one
of the smartest parody of typical jungle adventure plots in cinema. Congo, after its release, has been
criticized for try to piggyback off "The success of Universal's Jurassic Park" just two years earlier
(James Berardinelli). Though the camp style, visuals, and acting, adds to the film's charm, while not
undermining the viewer's intelligence with smart one–liners and dialogue that holds weight between
acts. This creates the feel of a B action movie on an A movie's budget.
Large uncharted jungles, counties in political turmoil, and lost cities of dead civilizations, are
settings that are archetypal to adventure films. Congo uses these settings to play with the movie's
humor. With several sites such as the city of Zinj, clearly looking like it was shot on a sound stage in
Hollywood, gives less believability to scenes filmed on location. Taking the gravity and the sense of
danger from even the intense scenes. This is aided by the practical effects such as costumes of the
silver back gorilla, and gray gorillas, with stiff movement and equally rigid expressions. Tied with
minimal effect, such as an animatronic hippo in the night river scene, gives Congo the visual
interpretation of a comedy.
The comedic parody aspect continues into the actors pretrial of the characters in Congo. The movie's
opening scene shows Jon Don Bakers character, giving a text–book example of over acting,

The Horror Of Action Adventure
The action adventure genre has long been considered the easiest kind of book or movie to sell.
People believe that the similarities, which are universal throughout the genre and many times very
obvious in the most popular books and movies, are just a product of the author's laziness and
overdone clichés. Yet action adventure still remains one of the most popular and most generally
liked types. This is because the genre of action adventure fills the holes that are created, in our lives,
by modern society and help people cope with its stress. The most affective of these are ability to
escape the problems of the world, the feeling of making a difference, being able to become the main
character, and the ability to sate the violent nature of humanity. All these things combined make the
action adventure genres one of the most popular genera, if not the most popular, in the world.
The average person's life nowadays has the same amount of stress as a patient in an insane asylum
50 years ago, or at least it seems like that to many. People have a lot to worry about nowadays ––
mortgages, bills, education, job security, family and health issues, the dangers in the world, among
others, and with all these worries and the stress that comes with them, they welcome the ability to
turn off their brain and enjoy a meaningless story. Picking up and reading any book, or watching a
movie, transports them to a new world free from their problems and their worries of the world.

Tarzan Of The Apes Analysis
Tarzan of the Apes (1912), by Edgar Rice Burroughs is the original story that inspired numerous
remakes, across all medias that have since been released, granting the name Tarzan fame–status
universally. Having been remade and rebranded on numerous occasions, the story of Tarzan that the
majority recognizes varies greatly from that of the original. Due to this fact, in addition to its unique
elements and characteristics, Tarzan's genre is ambiguous, varying when analyzed from different
viewpoints, when taking into account social influences at the time of its initial release, etc. The
genre Tarzan is categorized into has a definite affect on how popular it is with different audiences as
it alters the way in which it is perceived. By analyzing the audience and society at the time of Tarzan
of the Apes' release, as well as different elements of popular culture, and the elements of genres it
could potentially be placed into, the text can be categorized as a specific genre: adventure.
In the words of Green (1991, p.1–2), adventure is "when dangerous things happen to you ... you are
called on for courage, cunningness, ruthlessness, endurance, leadership, and basic survival skills,
and ultimately you must get ready to kill or be killed." Inarguably, the original Tarzan story fits this
description; a young boy, orphaned in what was at the time an unknown land, consequently being
raised by wild animals and having to fight for his own survival everyday. Upon original release in

Marie Laure And Siddhartha
There are many novels written with different experiences included into each one making them
unique, but when one breaks down the novels one can realize how there may be different
adventures, but there really is only one story. Joseph Campbell's Monomyth cycle is used to
compare stories and outline how similar two different novels can be; in Hesse's Siddhartha and
Anthony Doerr's All the Light We Cannot See, the three main stages of the monomyth cycle and
different themes throughout the novel really pull the stories together; it shows the characters'
journeys to find who they are and what they stand for play a role in how there's truly only one story.

her cope with her blindness. The theme father–son relationship comes to play a role in the beginning
of Siddhartha and All the Light We Cannot See as Siddhartha and Marie Laure are looking for
adventure and their relationships with their fathers are shown strongly with a lot of support. In both,
the son or daughter wants to somehow leave, and in both, the father indulges and is hurt by it, but
encourages it as well. The fathers must let go of their son or daughter to find their own way in the

them scooping them up in his bill to take them to specific area where Nemo is being held hostage,
while avoiding the wild seagulls that say nothing but "mine". Also Nigel helps Nemo by keeping
him up with information about his father trying to rescue him. Lastly, there are Nemo's tank mates
and specifically the mysterious Gill. Gill is the respected fish in the tank that has a mysterious past.
He is a tough, yet a strong, altruistic character who personally rescued Nemo while risking his own
life.
The object, knowledge, or blessing that the hero acquired during the adventure is now put to use.
The snorkeling goggles, called the mask, would be the Gift. The gift is something that will aid the
hero in his quest and absolutely necessary. The mask had written on it the location where Nemo was
being kept as "prisoner". The true gift was the information on the mask and is absolutely necessary.

he Heroic Journey of Katniss Everdeen
In the history of cinema, most movies involving a hero 's journey have mostly the same plot. A man
gets a call, goes on a journey, gets in a battle or two, and saves a helpless woman from some evil
source. The Hunger Games has the exact plot but takes a complete turn regarding the hero in the
film. The hero in this film is a Katniss Everdeen, a poor girl from a dystopian society. In this film
Katniss volunteers for her sister to be in the Hunger Games, which is an event where individuals are
thrown into an arena where people from twelve districts fight each other to the death for the
entertainment of others. Katniss eventually befriends Peta Mellark in the arena, and they defeat all
obstacles and win the Hunger Games together. The Hunger Games is a perfect example of a hero 's
journey plot. It follows the exact steps that are in a hero 's journey, including a call, crossing a
threshold, a supreme ordeal, companions and mentors, a transformation and the ultimate boon or
gift. This film encompasses the classic heroic movie plot, with an exception of having a strong
female lead.
Like in any typical hero movie, there is a call that the protagonist must answer. In The Hunger
Games, Katniss hears her calling for adventure when her sister, Prim is drawn to participate in the
annual Hunger Games. Knowing that Prim is definitely not suited for violence, Katniss 's instincts

interacting with humans he ends up in a wrestling match with Gilgamesh. Eventually Enkidu and
Gilgamesh become friends and the hero's journey starts. The first step according to Campbell is the
"call to adventure" where the hero receives a call for adventure and leave their life. They both
decide to visit the evil forest and hunt down Humbaba, the protector of the gods tree supply. At this
point Gilgamesh is still very arrogant and has not yet started to change his ways.
Gilgamesh then reaches the next step and crosses a threshold. which is when he leaves ... Show

The crossing of the return threshold is the final step in Gilgamesh's hero journey. Enkidu's death sent
Gilgamesh on an adventure to fight death but he ultimately ended up learning his biggest lesson
from Utnapishtim, the man who become immortal. He learns to appreciate life every day and that
humans are meant to die. Utnapishtim tells him how fortunate he is to be 2/3 divine and 1/3 human,
to be blessed, and to be king . He takes this information and starts to appreciate everything about his
life and his kingdom. He understands that death is a part of life. This experience changed him for the
better. From the beginning of the story of Gilgamesh to the end you can see a total transformation in
this character. The strong and greedy king showed fear and vulnerability. The death of his brother
and second half stirred up his restless heart and sent him on a journey to fight and overcome death.
The lesson he learned though was to appreciate his life every day until he dies. He learned that death
was a part of life. Gilgamesh has obvious flaws and goes through many struggles just as its readers
do on a daily basis. Gilgamesh's vulnerability makes him easy to relate to. Modern American readers
want a hero who's relatable and seems ordinary in their emotions and life. People change in life
sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worst. In the case of Gilgamesh he changed for the
better and become a better person. Readers

Analysis Of Big Hero 6
"'It's classic villain. We've seen too much" (Hall & Williams, 2015). The movie Big Hero 6 tells the
story of Hiro Hamada and his friends in the fictional city of San Fransokyo as they try to find the
person that killed Hiro's brother, Tadashi. As the protagonist and hero of the story, Hiro Hamada
grows into an individual ready to take on the world. Through the use of Joseph Campbell's hero's
journey outline, Big Hero 6 shows how Hiro Hamada can be anyone's hero.
Big Hero 6 opens with an introduction of Hiro Hamada. Hiro lives his everyday life in San
Fransokyo by participating in robot fights and not going to college. However, Hiro's brother and first
mentor, Tadashi, is able to convince Hiro to apply to the same college he is attending. This is the
hero's call to adventure as Tadashi is able to get Hiro to try something new. Hiro is then tasked with
creating a scientific invention to prove his abilities to the board at the San Fransokyo Institute of
Technology
Hiro applies to the school and presents his invention, microbots, at the Institute's science fair.
Microbots are small robots controlled by one's mind that can link together to create any structure.
Hiro is accepted to the school by the dean Callaghan and plans to accept the call of adventure.
However, a fire breaks out at the Institute and Tadashi dies while attempting to save an apparently
trapped Callaghan.
The death of Tadashi, Hiro's first mentor, leads to Hiro becoming depressed and refusing the

Analysis Of The Boy In The Striped Pajamas
The Boy In The Striped Pajamas is a novel about friendship and sacrifice. The protagonist of this
story changes numerous times, from being a scared boy to doing something he never thought he
would ever be doing. The protagonist, Bruno, finds out and learns unimaginable things that he never
would have forgotten and discovers things he shouldn't be knowing. As the bravest member of his
family, the protagonist, was put into a position of something he didn't even understand himself.
Bruno's story and adventure throughout this novel is inspiring as well as encouraging. In this essay,
This inquiring question is going to be on how Bruno develops throughout the story and becomes a
different person by the end of the novel.
At the beginning of the book, Bruno and his sister are trying to figure out what they were looking at
through Bruno's window. " She was twelve years old and was considered to be one of the brightest
girls in her class." States the Narrator on page 33. Which states even her as a smart young girl
couldn't seem to figure out what they were looking at. They looked further and both squinted their
eyes to figure out what was out there. Barb wired fences around the district they were looking at
remind Bruno's sister of a farm, which brought her to the idea of being "The Countryside." and this
was their "Vacation Home." Bruno didn't agree with his sister's idea of being "A farm", as their was
no animals in sight. Just different aged people dressed in blue striped pajamas working, At this point
of the Novel, Bruno was confused. As Well as getting into trouble, Bruno was still a scared boy that
was afraid of what was out there and he wanted to know more than anything.
Bruno was adventurous and he always seemed to find a way to get himself into trouble. At the
beginning chapter 10, Bruno found himself walking along the outside of the barb wired fence and
getting farther away from his new home. He walked and walked until his home had vanished from
his sight. He walked until the idea of "Adventure" was out of his head and thought turning back
would be a good idea. Now one reading this would think for him to keep going and that's exactly
what Bruno did after he saw sort of dot in the distance. Now this

People of different cultures worked, traded and traveled throughout the Empire, contributing to its

themselves in forms of diaries or letters about the people and the lands they encountered on their

Sebastien Manrique, a priest who went on a journey to India for missionary work, writes his

constructed article, Manrique keeps his audience in mind by providing exceptionally detailed
experiences that he had on his journey. He is able to portray his journey as if the reader were truly
there alongside him. The reader is able to imagine the drastic situations he went through on his
journey due to the "monsoon floods, voracious mosquitos, appetizing peacocks, violent fever and
affronted villagers – as well as threatening Mughal officials." He is also well aware of what he must

Why I Do Not Travel
Travelling means to visit different places, experience their culture and society, and meet new people.
People travel to find pleasure and adventure from these experiences. But, there are some people who
do not travel or do not like to travel. I am one of them. From one point, I am a traveler because I
came here to study. Although I am going one place to another place and visiting with different
society and culture, I have travelled for education, not for adventure or excitement. I have been in
Bulgaria for almost two years, but I have not travelled yet during that time, except for going back to
my home country. Why do I not travel? There are three reasons that explain why I do not travel;
money, transportation and food. First of all, the travelling costs too much to me because I am a
student, especially international student. Thus, I have not enough money to travel. Also, living in
Bulgaria costs bit more than that in my hometown. Therefore, I try to spend less. When I went to
Sofia, I spent money on the expenses of transportation and food, nothing on the other activities such
as visiting the local museums. The less money I spend on the travel, the less satisfaction and
pleasure I will get from that. Secondly travelling starts by planning destination, buying ticket of the
bus, train or plane and preparing luggage, etc. But sitting on the plane or bus for many hours is not
comfortable at all. Also, you will get tired and bored. I have spent eleven hours

Summary Of ' Our Heroes ' Tale '
*INSERT TITLE*
Our heroes ' tale begins in the small magical community of Enchantia, situated deep within the
Enchanted Rainbow Forest, far away from normal civilization. This forest is thick with massive
trees that bare a multitude of differently coloured leaves and vegetation as far as the eye can see.
Even though the forest is expansive, the vegetation manages to remain fairly well kept, giving off a
peaceful and calm vibe. Scattered throughout the forest are large caves (some containing treasure!)
and other small animal communities. But, this story is not about the other communities, it is about
Enchantia and its residents. In particular, the small green dragon who goes by the name of Grassy,
and her best friend: Fluffy, the tiny ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea that maybe they should leave their calm little community and go on the largest adventure
they could think of. It would lead them to new, interesting, exciting, and unexplored lands; lands
where they could live out their wildest dreams. They would have to venture into completely
unknown territory, that could potentially pose a threat to the two friends. But nonetheless they
decided that they would take the day to prepare and leave by morning of the next day.
Come morning, the duo of friends were both very eager to embark on this adventure. Since there
were no maps of this secluded area, they decided that to start this adventure they would pick a
direction and just walk until they found something interesting. After a few hours of talking, walking,
and occasional snacking, the two creatures stumbled upon the entrance of a large and somewhat
dark looking cave.
"I 'm not too sure I want to go in there Grassy, it looks pretty dangerous. What if we get hurt?"
Remarked Fluffy.
Grassy, being the more courageous one of the duo, managed to convince Fluffy by reminding her,
"We wanted an adventure right? Well, a dark and unexplored cave is the best place to start!"
"You know what Grassy, you're right. This cave looks rife with adventure!" And so, they entered the
cave, leaving all worry and hesitation behind them at the entrance.
After a few quiet minutes of walking down the cave, they reached the main cavern. The

Summary : ' Colossal Cave Adventure '
Colossal cave adventure is the great grandfather to all adventure video games created ever. It has the
luxury of being the first game to introduce an interactive narrative, while also existing as the first
ever digital open world for a player to explore.
The first iteration of the game was created back in 1976, which, incidentally, was the same year that
Apple was founded. Computer science was still a relatively new thing going on in the world, and the
game itself was actually created by a programmer that was helping to created a precursor to the
internet: ARPANET. The game used around 300 kilobytes of memory which was almost double
what most programs were using on the PDP–10. The sheer amount of content that Will Crowther
was able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The players use this system in a way that is quite close to the way that a dungeon master and a
player has to do in order to play dungeon and dragons. The gameplay really ends up feeling like the
player is solving a puzzle to figure out what words the computer requires in order to continue on
with the game.
Graphics
The use of description instead of actual graphics allows the game to appear much more expansive
than it actually is. Allowing the player to build up the imagery using their own sense of wonder
saves on space and maximises the sense of adventure that the game is able to give off to to the
player. At the time, games were very limited in their color pallets, and the amount of memory that
the games were able to be stored in. The most powerful graphics could be found in arcades, where
dedicated gaming cabinets held games like space invaders. While the graphics for space invaders is
nothing short of iconic, there was no way a 3D adventure game could be created, especially on a
non–graphics dedicated computer.
A Tale Of Two Versions
The difference in the gameplay becomes much more apparent when looking at the two versions of
the game as they were released. The original Colossal Cave Adventure was created by Will
Crowther, and was heavily inspired by the work that he had done as a caver previously. He based the
cave in the game off of Mammoth caves, which is a cave

Personal Narrative: My Journey To California

think the opposite. I will never forget the time that I got lost in California because it made me realize

My Sassy Girl As A Hero's Journey
The Hero's Journey is an observation of the hero archetype in literature, as well as a story template
and idea. John Campbell's The Hero with a Thousand Faces details each step a hero may pass
through during his adventure. The book contains detailed descriptions of each of the twenty one
steps. Although, these can be summarized into five basic steps: Call to Adventure, Refusal of the
Call, Crossing the Threshold/Passage into the Realm, The Road of Trials, and Return to the World of
the Common Day. The Hero's Journey archetype is represented heavily in popular culture. My Sassy

The Girl throws up and passes out on the train due to excess alcohol consumption. This is where
Gyeon–woo's journey begins. His call to adventure is the choice to either help or not help The Girl.
He initially dumps her at the subway but he turns around, picks her up, and takes her to a motel.
These are the steps Refusal of the Call and Passage into the Realm respectively. The majority of the
film takes place during The Road of Trials step. This is the step that Gyeon–woo articulates his
journeys goal besides finding love. He is continually surprised at The Girl's beauty, brazenness and
lack of respect for him. Even more odd, The Girl forces Gyeon–woo on a sequence of bizarre dates
despite her flippant nature. After one of these dates again ends in Gyeon–woo carrying her back to
the motel, he vows to, "...heal her sorrow". He overcomes this challenge by being supplicant to The
Girl's every whim. While not immediately apparent at the onset, the girl is sad and drunk at the
beginning of the movie because her boyfriend, who is the cousin of Gyeon–woo, had died one year
previously. Gyeon–woo's presence, which reminds her of him, allows her to forget her boyfriend's
death. His refusal to quit after suffering abuse at her hands emotionally overwhelms her and they

Social Criticism in the Hunger Games and Alice’s...
Social Criticism In The Hunger Games And Alice's Adventures In Wonderland "Off with their
heads!" (Carroll 122) could be the motto of Suzanne Collins' bestseller The Hunger Games.
Published in 2008, the novel tells the dystopian story of Katniss, a young girl who has to participate
in a fight–to–death–tournament with 23 other teenagers. Connoisseurs might have recognized the
quotation of the classic Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, first published in 1865.
Mostly known as a children's book, the novel depicts the story of Alice a girl that finds herself in a
wonderland, where she meets many curious people and gets confronted with arbitrary brutality.

The capriciousness of the Queen's decisions becomes even more obvious when Alice attends a trial
where the Knave of Hearts is accused for having stolen some tarts which the Queen had made. Not
only that the reason for this charge seems ridiculous but when finding no evidence the Queen just
overrules the jury and the judge, which again underlines the oppressive power she possesses. Both
novels, The Hunger Games and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, therefore succeed in depicting
arbitrary measures and brutality as a way to portray government oppression, personified by the
Gamemakers and the Queen of Hearts. Being confronted with this oppression, both girls think about
which place they take and self reflect their identities. According to Erik Erikson, an important
developmental psychologist and psychoanalyst, "identity formation is one of the key tasks of
adolescence." (Beck, Earl 77). Relating to that, both novels deal with the fundamental topic of
children's development. Katniss, although being only age 16, can be described as comparatively
mature, at first glance. Since her father died in a mine accident, she has to replace him in being the
breadwinner of the family. On closer examination, however, one discovers Katniss' immaturity: she
doesn't seem to be able to organize her feelings, which lets her appear stubborn in some ways. This
is for instance shown in the relationship to her mother who sinks into a deep depression after losing
her husband. Katniss isn't able

Differences Of Romance, History And History
The notions of "romance", "history" and "novel" were often replaceable during the end of the
seventeenth century and the beginning of the eighteenth century. On the one hand, there was a
disposition to use the term "romance" as a synonym of history. On the other hand, there was also a
certain inclination for using romance and history as two contrary concepts that proceeds into the
need to discover the distinctions and similarities between romance and history, that is, to
differentiate between what was perceived as invented and fictional events; and true facts and related
to history (Mckeon).
This unclear–cut distinction between facts and fiction generated a kind of disorder in the literary
world during the Restoration period so, writers thought that it was crucial to throw some light on

This quotation underlines the adventures of a knight who seeks to bring justice to the world,
rescuing damsels in distress situations and fighting against villains. In these struggles there is a
triumph of the knight who adopts the role of hero and moves around marvellous elements. Northrop
Frye indicates these two features in this definition of romance:
... the hero is the typical hero of romance, whose actions are marvelous but who is himself identified
as a human being. The hero of romance moves in a world in which the ordinary laws of nature are
slightly suspended: prodigies of courage and endurance, unnatural to us, are natural to him, and
enchanted weapons, talking animals, terrifying ogres and witches, and talismans of miraculous
power violate no rule of probability once the postulates of romance have been established.

I have always had a taste for adventure. In year 3, I did a hike to Mt Feathertop. We were in

We thought it was a good idea to do it because we had done many mini hikes and wanted a

Character Analysis Of The Boy In The Striped Pajamas
In the book The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne, the main character, Bruno, changes
throughout the story due to his interactions and relationship with Shmuel, a Jewish boy in a German
concentration camp. Prior to meeting Shmuel, Bruno exhibited many negative character traits. For
example, just after Bruno arrives at Out–With, Bruno begins to complain to Maria, their maid, on all
of the "horrible" traits the house possesses: "'Well, if Father's job means that we have to move away
from our house and the sliding banister and my three best friends for life, then I think Father should
think twice about his job, don't you?'" (Boyne 17). Bruno already misses his old home, which
allowed him to play and make his three "best friends for life". He had enjoyed the familiarness and
entertainment of his own home which made moving much harder. At his new house, Bruno is
disappointed that he does not have as many opportunities as he had had in Berlin. Not only did
Bruno miss his old home, but his new house made him uncomfortable. When gazing out his
window, Bruno spots the wall of the concentration camp as "He put his face to the glass and saw
what was out there, and this time when his eyes opened wide and his mouth made the shape of an O,
and his hands stayed by his sides because something made him feel very cold and unsafe" (Boyne
19). Before meeting Shmuel, Bruno is lonely at Out–With. He has been hoping for an adventurous
exploration to go on, yet finding out the unknown about these people makes him uncomfortable.
Unsure of the wall's purpose, the wall gives him an eerie feeling. He does not recognize these people
either, nor does he know the reasoning on why they are behind the wall. This is not the kind of
adventure Bruno was looking for. Bruno's life before meeting Shmuel was very lonely and dull, yet
after meeting his new friend, Bruno began to rather enjoy his time in Poland. After befriending
Shmuel, Bruno's thoughts and opinions on Out–With are altered as his loneliness has faded. To
illustrate, when Bruno and Shmuel meet for the first time, each boy takes his turn sharing something
about himself. When Bruno asks how old Shmuel is, he responds by saying "''I'm nine,' he [Shmuel]
said. 'My birthday is

and ventures – would a true adventurist leave saying "what if?" And so...the adventure begins.
Adventuring 101: never underestimate the little things, explore the unknown, and make as many
memories as possible. Sometimes, the most memorable adventures, "participation in exciting
undertakings or enterprises," according to Merriam Webster, are the ones no one sees coming. A
spur of the moment, whimsical adventure, such as, driving down back roads with no destination,
blasting music, singing at the top of your lungs with your best friends can embody this exact feeling,
as it becomes the only place you want to be. Adventures build character; explore the world, try new
things, find the undiscovered. Often, anything can be turned from a daunting task into an
adventure...good friends, daring mindsets, and the drive to discover can be so powerful. Moments
like these are ones that can never seem to

My Favorite Experience
As I went on my daily adventure, I thought that everything would go the same way. My bike which I
named Purple was my favorite thing on earth. I had been going on these same adventures since I
could remember. The bike rides started out being mainly fun and games, but before long, it was
something that meant a lot to me. It meant a lot to me because that was a moment I could be myself
and feel free. Each adventure was never exactly the same, but none of them ever failed in any way.
Little did I know that this adventure would be one that I'd remember because of the great amount of
tragedy I faced.
Riding my bike was an everyday thing for me. I'd wake up every morning, brush my teeth, put on
my helmet, and start my adventures with Purple, and nothing about it was ever wrong. I loved the
soft wind that brushed against my face as I pedaled smoothly along the slick dirt road. The nice
people that waved, spoke, or even threw me a smile as I passed by gave me a magnificent feeling
that I could never quite find anywhere else. I'd see the same plumped, green leafed trees with
beautiful light–colored flowers that seemed as if they were trying to invade the grass' space. The
wind would make the windmills dance as if they were listening to Beethoven. The bright, yellow
sun beaming on my skin, and the smell of earth all made my heart smile with such joy. Since I
wasn't accepted at home, my bike rides always gave me a way to escape anything negative going on
in my life. The rides were

Summary Of Two Kinds By Amy Tan
Like many immigrants think, America is the land of opportunity. People from all over the world,
flee from their birth homes, wishing for a better life. Many parents seek to find a life for their
children, a life they never had. However, the shift of environment is harsh for many
families; with hard work they have little luck. One can be successful if they act in a manner that
best suits them. On the other hand, if they are goaded to do what they aren't passionate for,
they can't expect an outcome. Amy Tan in her short story, "Two kinds" Mei Woo's mother tries to
forge her daughter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, Jing–Mei says, "then I saw what seemed to be the prodigy side of me"(2).
Unlike Chinese culture, Jing–Mei starts to revolt against her mother. As a result of her mother
living vicariously through her, Jing–Mei starts to act defiant. Furthermore, there is a tension
between the first generation, American daughter and her immigrant mother. At this point of the
Hero's Journey, Campbell describes what is needed as preparation for the quest, preparations
like, "supplies, helpers, information"(The Heros Journey 2). In this case, Mei–Woo brings along
her Ego in order to have her mother lose hope. However, her mother quickly picked up
something new, as she watched the Ed Sullivan show her mother, "seemed entranced by the
music, a frenzied little piano piece"(Two Kinds 2). Although Mei–Woo frequently failed her
expectations, not showing promise in any field her mother finally decides that she will become a
pianist.
As a pianist, her career was a failure and thus we move into the climax of this story. On
page three her mother slapped her and accused her of being ungrateful. In addition as her piano
lessons continued, Mei–Woo continued her journey further into the abyss. Jing–Mei

The Tale Of Mario And Luigi's Adventures In The Beanbean...
Does the main game hold up? You bet it does! The tale of Mario & Luigi's adventures in the
Beanbean Kingdom is still hilarious and in my eyes was well worth playing through once again. At a
good 8–10 hours depending on your experience and how much of the side content you wish to
partake in, the game is somewhat simpler than its successors, but less gimmicky as a result.
The most obvious difference compared to the original is the shift from purely 2D sprites to more
textured visuals found in more recent instalments. These are as appealing as they can be, but the
thing that truly impressed me was the use of shadows and lighting in darker areas to make the
visuals pop out. It's a neat effect that to the best of my knowledge isn't really found ... Show more

There is also a dedicated button to allow both Mario Bros. to jump normally without the need to
swap back to the standard jump icon. It's an absolute godsend, eliminating a major gripe I had with
the original.
As for new combat features, the timing for pressing buttons for moves has been made demonstrably
clearer, even giving the button combinations on the bottom screen before selecting the attack, as
well as the ability to practice. These were features present in more modern Mario & Luigi games,
but are welcome here.
Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser is a brand new storyline added to the remake that runs
concurrently to the main quest, giving us the perspective of a lowly minion on a search for Bowser.
Along the way you'll also encounter characters from the main story and you'll be treated to what
they've been up to while off screen. This mode opens up to the player pretty early after hitting a
certain spot in the main game and presents a completely different playstyle. The goal is to find
Bowser, but in order to do so you'll be thrown into battles with brainwashed minions that have fallen
under Fawful's control. There are three types of minions; ranged, melee, and flying, each with a
strength and weakness. Melee is strong against ranged, ranged is strong against flying, and flying is
strong against melee, which results in a rock, paper, scissors rule set.
Preparing your squad is the most vital part of each battle, but luckily you'll know what type of
enemies

Moana ( HJA ) Stages In The Movie Moa

  • 1. Moana ( HJA ) Stages In The Movie Moa One occurrence of the Hero Journey Archetype (HJA) stages being utilized in the movie Moana can be observed towards the beginning of the story with HJA Stage 2 "Call to Adventure."According to Campbell as cited and explained by Vogler, ''The hero is presented with a problem, challenge or adventure. Maybe the land is dying, as in the King Arthur stories about the search for the Grail''(1). This suggests that stories which follow the HJA pattern usually have a hero drawn to adventure that is completely unfamiliar to their ordinary world. The author or director does this to show foreshadow what the hero will eventually do; their adventure. An example of this stage in the movie Moana directed by Ron Clements was when Moana desperately wants to go past the reef. She wants to help people by going on a voyage however, her dad wants her to stay. All her life, Moana felt called to the water. This scene introduces the audience to how Moana longs to go on an journey, which fits the HJA ''Stage Call to Adventure.'' Another incidence of the Hero Journey Archetype (HJA) stages being present in the movie The Lightning Thief can be seen towards the beginning of the movie with HJA Stage 2 "Call to Adventure."According to Campbell as cited and explained by Vogler, ''The hero is presented with a problem, challenge or adventure. Maybe the land is dying, as in the King Arthur stories about the search for the Grail ''(1). This demonstrates that stories which follow the HJA pattern usually have a ... • 3. My Six Fundamental Pillars Of Character 1. Loyalty. I chose loyalty as my first pillar of my "Six Fundamental Pillars of Character" because loyalty has been something I have cherished for my entire life. I believe being a loyal friend and/or family member is the most important characteristic for anyone to have. I believe this because if one does not have loyalty, what is their purpose? Loyalty is important to me because I personally want loyalty from others, so I provide loyalty to others. I have always lived my life on the concept that "you get what you put in." In response to that, I am loyal to others with hope that others will be loyal to me. This pillar is most important in my relationship with Kylee. I am loyal to Kylee, as she is loyal to me. Without loyalty in our relationship, our feelings for each other would not be as strong, if present at all. Honesty. – Honesty is most important to someone who is seeking the characteristic of loyalty. One who is dishonest, is not a loyal person. To be loyal, you must be entrusted to tell the truth and nothing but the truth at all times. Educated. – One who is loyal, must be educated enough to be someone to rely one. If someone wants to be trusted but is not wise enough to treat their trust correctly, they are not loyal. The loyal person must know how to take things into perspective and know how to relate to the situation and act accordingly. Dedicated. – To be loyal, one must be dedicated to their characteristic. They must be success driven, timely and organized in EVERY situation. If the loyal person is only loyal to one person, or in only some situations, they are not truly a loyal person. Kind. – A loyal person must also be kind enough to be approachable. If a person isn't kind enough to be approached, they cannot be labelled as loyal, because they aren't given the chance to prove they are. But, at the same time they must also be realistic, and know how to help. 2. Safe. My second pillar is my characteristic of safety. I believe I have lived my life safely, but also just as freely and exciting as well. Safety is an important characteristic to me because I think not having this characteristic is dangerous. To live a healthy life, one must know how to stay safe. I believe I have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Identity And Identity In Joseph Kestner's Treasure Island Joseph Kestner is quoted saying, "In Treasure Island, Hawkins is forced to achieve an identity, but this process is riddled with ambiguity, including the fact that Jim commits murder and remains haunted by the experience as a nightmare,"(______). He specializes in masculinity theory from novels written in the late nineteenth century. Kestner can relate Jim because he is forced to become a new person, kill a human to save his own life, and questions why situations happen. Wyeth suggests that Jim will take on a courageous mysterious journey by using Jim's poses, gender roles, darkness, and specific details to portray his maturation throughout the novel, thereby suggesting that we are all subject to transitions that are inevitable. Also, Stevenson and Wyeth use text and images that do not correlate how they should, which can confuse readers and have them wonder why the image was placed in this book. Through Jim Hawkin's pose and gender roles, Wyeth portrays Jim's transition from adolescence to a masculine adulthood. Jim's pose shows that he is unemotional compared to his mother who is positioned behind him. In this illustration, Jim is shorter than his mother, but Wyeth uses the technique occlusion to make Jim appear larger than he actually is. Wyeth uses this technique to demonstrate the importance of Jim, implying that he is clearly the most powerful character. In the nineteenth century, gender roles were vastly different than they are today; for example, females acted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Video Game Analysis: Knight's Adventure My program is written in JavaScript using the App Lab programming environment. It is a game called, "Knight's Adventure". The purpose of my game is to collect lives, navigate through a maze, and rescue a princess who is captured by a monster by guessing the secret number. The video shows the user entering in a username and then they go collect 5 lives by clicking on hearts on the screen, then they navigate through a maze. They lose lives if they hit the walls on the maze. When they finish, they have to guess a secret number in order to rescue the princess. Once they do that, the app is complete and there is a button to play again. I began developing my program by making a message that would include the name of the user, it would take ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It handles the part of my app where the user has to guess the secret number in order to rescue the princess. This has three parts: a part for when the secret number is equal to five, when it is greater than five, and when it is less than five. The first part has an if statement saying that if the "monsternumber" is equal to five, set the screen to the screen that correlates with the correct secret number, which has the ID of "saveprincess". This is fundamental to the apps purpose because it shows and verifies to the user that they have found the secret number. The second part is a while statement saying that while the "monsternumber" < 5, another prompt will be displayed saying the string, "Guess higher.". This is fundamental for the app because it is how to user will know that their guess was too low of a number. The third part is another while saying that while the "monsterscore" > 5, display another prompt saying the string "Guess lower." This is fundamental for the app because it shows the user that their guess was too high and they need to go lower. The for block of code is also fundamental, so that this will repeat twenty times so that they user will be able to theoretically guess every number between 1 and 20. • 9. Winnie The Pooh Archetype Going on adventures or quests is a repeated theme in Winnie–the–Pooh which uses spontaneity as part of play in order to have fun. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, playing for adventure pertains to "senses relating to recreation, pleasure, and enjoyment." Every character in Winnie–the– Pooh goes on adventures or quests and one adventure that the group goes on is in chapter eight that is called; "In Which Christopher Robin Leads an Expotition to the North Pole." Christopher Robin is the only human character who leads the group of animals on an expedition to find the North Pole in the Hundred Acre Woods. Although the world of the Hundred Acre Woods is a fantasy, the quest of going to find the North Pole is evoked as being light–hearted fun. When Pooh describes Christopher Robin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The archetype of the Explorer suggests the ability to "find out who you are through exploring the world" (Golden). Through this archetype, Christopher Robin's identity shifts from being a young child to an Explorer which ultimately creates the role of being an elder figure to the rest of the group since he leads the expedition. However, this is challenged when Christopher Robin confronts Rabbit and says, "It's–I wondered– It's only– Rabbit, I suppose you don't know, What does the North Pole look like" (122). The Explorer archetype is thus challenged when Christopher Robin pretends to be able to do something such as lead a group on an expedition. The act of pretending to be an adult however, is completely lost in chapter nine when Piglet is in his tree surrounded by water and the first thing that Christopher Robin thinks of is being on a "real island" (Milne 140). Christopher Robin then repeats that he is on an island to Owl and describes it as being "fun" (Milne 140) without considering how the abundance of rain could be affecting the other ... • 11. Heroes In The Odyssey IMPERFECT HEROES Odysseus and Moses represent the standard hero, which is one scarred with imperfections–a hero that commits crimes, lies, deceives, is in some sense immoral. Moses as an adolescent murdered an Egyptian who was pestering a Hebrew man (Exodus, 45) whereas, Odysseus betrays his faithful wife by having affairs with several women, such as Calypso and Circe. Odysseus's crave for adventure and Moses' violence show that both Hebrew culture and Greek culture are accepting of a tarnished hero only because their gods ordained it. The fact that the hero was an instrument of the gods was equally important to both cultures. Moses was picked to be the savior of Jews by God. He was to be the one who would free the Jews and take them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus Moses freed the Jews from slavery and led them to a place where they could settle. Again, Moses' story is the Jews' story. The specifics of the hero's purpose may change according to their culture, but the role he plays for the people is the same. In addition to cultural ideals, the hero's journey is also determined by how each story originated. The Hebrews passed down Moses and the Exodus orally, in the form of a linear story with a beginning, middle and end. Moses' linear journey took the Jews out of Egypt, through the desert and to the Promised Land. In contrast,Homer's poetic writing of the Odyssey is circular in that the ending is a new beginning. It begins and ends (except for the epilogue) in Odysseus' palace in Ithaca. Like the story, his journey back home is a circular one. In both cases, the medium is the message. The major differences between Odysseus and Moses are primarily contextual. They are both made out of the same "stuff." They are universal heroes who could exist in any culture, context or time. It's as if there is a generic hero formula, and this still holds true today, and by simply inserting a few particulars, a fairly accurate biography of a hero can be derived. THE HERO FORMULA The first blank to fill in is the hero's past. As a young man, Moses murdered an Egyptian who was pestering a Jew. A savior who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows In The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, many of the cases Sherlock Holmes agreed to pursue did not resolve into acts of violence. He used his intelligence and detective skills to navigate through problems in order to complete his missions without eruptions of brutality. Although his methods to execute his assignments pleased the original readers in the 19th Century, they do not seem to spark the interests of the modern day communities of America. People often disvalue the importance of consequences because they wish to perform harmful actions, but do not want to engage with the suffering it brings, therefore, movie directors often contradict and rewrite originals into an ending they believe is appropriate. Throughout every original investigative tale, Sherlock Holmes solved his mysteries based on deductive reasoning. He quickly established his tactics in A Scandal in Bohemia, by stating that he had "both seen and observed" his surroundings (Doyle 3). His partner, Dr. John H. Accordingly, Holmes believes that when one acts upon ferocity, one shall receive it, which causes him to sustain his policies. A more mundane way of looking at this step is that it is a period of rest, peace and fulfillment before the hero begins the return. 11. The Ultimate Boon The ultimate boon is the achievement of the goal of the quest. It is what the person went on the journey to get. Congo, after its release, has been criticized for try to piggyback off "The success of Universal's Jurassic Park" just two years earlier (James Berardinelli). Though the camp style, visuals, and acting, adds to the film's charm, while not undermining the viewer's intelligence with smart one–liners and dialogue that holds weight between acts. This creates the feel of a B action movie on an A movie's budget. Large uncharted jungles, counties in political turmoil, and lost cities of dead civilizations, are settings that are archetypal to adventure films. Congo uses these settings to play with the movie's humor. With several sites such as the city of Zinj, clearly looking like it was shot on a sound stage in Hollywood, gives less believability to scenes filmed on location. Taking the gravity and the sense of danger from even the intense scenes. This is aided by the practical effects such as costumes of the silver back gorilla, and gray gorillas, with stiff movement and equally rigid expressions. Tied with minimal effect, such as an animatronic hippo in the night river scene, gives Congo the visual interpretation of a comedy. • 26. The Horror Of Action Adventure The action adventure genre has long been considered the easiest kind of book or movie to sell. People believe that the similarities, which are universal throughout the genre and many times very obvious in the most popular books and movies, are just a product of the author's laziness and overdone clichés. Yet action adventure still remains one of the most popular and most generally liked types. This is because the genre of action adventure fills the holes that are created, in our lives, by modern society and help people cope with its stress. The most affective of these are ability to escape the problems of the world, the feeling of making a difference, being able to become the main character, and the ability to sate the violent nature of humanity. All these things combined make the action adventure genres one of the most popular genera, if not the most popular, in the world. The average person's life nowadays has the same amount of stress as a patient in an insane asylum 50 years ago, or at least it seems like that to many. People have a lot to worry about nowadays –– mortgages, bills, education, job security, family and health issues, the dangers in the world, among others, and with all these worries and the stress that comes with them, they welcome the ability to turn off their brain and enjoy a meaningless story. Picking up and reading any book, or watching a movie, transports them to a new world free from their problems and their worries of the world. Action adventure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But, there are some people who do not travel or do not like to travel. I am one of them. From one point, I am a traveler because I came here to study. Although I am going one place to another place and visiting with different society and culture, I have travelled for education, not for adventure or excitement. I have been in Bulgaria for almost two years, but I have not travelled yet during that time, except for going back to my home country. Why do I not travel? There are three reasons that explain why I do not travel; money, transportation and food. First of all, the travelling costs too much to me because I am a student, especially international student. Thus, I have not enough money to travel. Also, living in Bulgaria costs bit more than that in my hometown. Therefore, I try to spend less. When I went to Sofia, I spent money on the expenses of transportation and food, nothing on the other activities such as visiting the local museums. The less money I spend on the travel, the less satisfaction and pleasure I will get from that. Secondly travelling starts by planning destination, buying ticket of the bus, train or plane and preparing luggage, etc. But sitting on the plane or bus for many hours is not comfortable at all. Also, you will get tired and bored. I have spent eleven hours ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 52. Summary : ' Colossal Cave Adventure ' Colossal cave adventure is the great grandfather to all adventure video games created ever. It has the luxury of being the first game to introduce an interactive narrative, while also existing as the first ever digital open world for a player to explore. The first iteration of the game was created back in 1976, which, incidentally, was the same year that Apple was founded. Computer science was still a relatively new thing going on in the world, and the game itself was actually created by a programmer that was helping to created a precursor to the internet: ARPANET. The game used around 300 kilobytes of memory which was almost double what most programs were using on the PDP–10. The sheer amount of content that Will Crowther was able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The players use this system in a way that is quite close to the way that a dungeon master and a player has to do in order to play dungeon and dragons. The gameplay really ends up feeling like the player is solving a puzzle to figure out what words the computer requires in order to continue on with the game. Graphics The use of description instead of actual graphics allows the game to appear much more expansive than it actually is. Allowing the player to build up the imagery using their own sense of wonder saves on space and maximises the sense of adventure that the game is able to give off to to the player. At the time, games were very limited in their color pallets, and the amount of memory that the games were able to be stored in. The most powerful graphics could be found in arcades, where dedicated gaming cabinets held games like space invaders. While the graphics for space invaders is nothing short of iconic, there was no way a 3D adventure game could be created, especially on a non–graphics dedicated computer. A Tale Of Two Versions The difference in the gameplay becomes much more apparent when looking at the two versions of the game as they were released. The original Colossal Cave Adventure was created by Will Crowther, and was heavily inspired by the work that he had done as a caver previously. He based the cave in the game off of Mammoth caves, which is a cave ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is no end to adventures that we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open." (Brainy quote) In the past, I thought that adventure was this grand and rare event that is impossible to come across. As I have grown older and wiser, I have begun to think the opposite. I will never forget the time that I got lost in California because it made me realize what real adventure is, and how common it can be. • 62. Social Criticism in the Hunger Games and Alice’s... Social Criticism In The Hunger Games And Alice's Adventures In Wonderland "Off with their heads!" (Carroll 122) could be the motto of Suzanne Collins' bestseller The Hunger Games. Published in 2008, the novel tells the dystopian story of Katniss, a young girl who has to participate in a fight–to–death–tournament with 23 other teenagers. Connoisseurs might have recognized the quotation of the classic Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, first published in 1865. Mostly known as a children's book, the novel depicts the story of Alice a girl that finds herself in a wonderland, where she meets many curious people and gets confronted with arbitrary brutality. Although they don't seem to have much in common at first glance and have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The capriciousness of the Queen's decisions becomes even more obvious when Alice attends a trial where the Knave of Hearts is accused for having stolen some tarts which the Queen had made. Not only that the reason for this charge seems ridiculous but when finding no evidence the Queen just overrules the jury and the judge, which again underlines the oppressive power she possesses. Both novels, The Hunger Games and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, therefore succeed in depicting arbitrary measures and brutality as a way to portray government oppression, personified by the Gamemakers and the Queen of Hearts. Being confronted with this oppression, both girls think about which place they take and self reflect their identities. According to Erik Erikson, an important developmental psychologist and psychoanalyst, "identity formation is one of the key tasks of adolescence." (Beck, Earl 77). Relating to that, both novels deal with the fundamental topic of children's development. Katniss, although being only age 16, can be described as comparatively mature, at first glance. Since her father died in a mine accident, she has to replace him in being the breadwinner of the family. On closer examination, however, one discovers Katniss' immaturity: she doesn't seem to be able to organize her feelings, which lets her appear stubborn in some ways. This is for instance shown in the relationship to her mother who sinks into a deep depression after losing her husband. Katniss isn't able ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Differences Of Romance, History And History The notions of "romance", "history" and "novel" were often replaceable during the end of the seventeenth century and the beginning of the eighteenth century. On the one hand, there was a disposition to use the term "romance" as a synonym of history. On the other hand, there was also a certain inclination for using romance and history as two contrary concepts that proceeds into the need to discover the distinctions and similarities between romance and history, that is, to differentiate between what was perceived as invented and fictional events; and true facts and related to history (Mckeon). The hero of romance moves in a world in which the ordinary laws of nature are slightly suspended: prodigies of courage and endurance, unnatural to us, are natural to him, and enchanted weapons, talking animals, terrifying ogres and witches, and talismans of miraculous power violate no rule of probability once the postulates of romance have been established. ... Character Analysis Of The Boy In The Striped Pajamas In the book The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne, the main character, Bruno, changes throughout the story due to his interactions and relationship with Shmuel, a Jewish boy in a German concentration camp. Prior to meeting Shmuel, Bruno exhibited many negative character traits. For example, just after Bruno arrives at Out–With, Bruno begins to complain to Maria, their maid, on all of the "horrible" traits the house possesses: "'Well, if Father's job means that we have to move away from our house and the sliding banister and my three best friends for life, then I think Father should think twice about his job, don't you?'" (Boyne 17). Bruno already misses his old home, which allowed him to play and make his three "best friends for life". He had enjoyed the familiarness and entertainment of his own home which made moving much harder. At his new house, Bruno is disappointed that he does not have as many opportunities as he had had in Berlin. Not only did Bruno miss his old home, but his new house made him uncomfortable. When gazing out his window, Bruno spots the wall of the concentration camp as "He put his face to the glass and saw what was out there, and this time when his eyes opened wide and his mouth made the shape of an O, and his hands stayed by his sides because something made him feel very cold and unsafe" (Boyne 19). Before meeting Shmuel, Bruno is lonely at Out–With. He has been hoping for an adventurous exploration to go on, yet finding out the unknown about these people makes him uncomfortable. Unsure of the wall's purpose, the wall gives him an eerie feeling. He does not recognize these people either, nor does he know the reasoning on why they are behind the wall. This is not the kind of adventure Bruno was looking for. Bruno's life before meeting Shmuel was very lonely and dull, yet after meeting his new friend, Bruno began to rather enjoy his time in Poland. After befriending Shmuel, Bruno's thoughts and opinions on Out–With are altered as his loneliness has faded. To illustrate, when Bruno and Shmuel meet for the first time, each boy takes his turn sharing something about himself. When Bruno asks how old Shmuel is, he responds by saying "''I'm nine,' he [Shmuel] said. 'My birthday is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It meant a lot to me because that was a moment I could be myself and feel free. Each adventure was never exactly the same, but none of them ever failed in any way. The tale of Mario & Luigi's adventures in the Beanbean Kingdom is still hilarious and in my eyes was well worth playing through once again. At a good 8–10 hours depending on your experience and how much of the side content you wish to partake in, the game is somewhat simpler than its successors, but less gimmicky as a result. The most obvious difference compared to the original is the shift from purely 2D sprites to more textured visuals found in more recent instalments.
