 Everyone wants safe and affordable
schools that function well and must
respond the basic needs: security,
identity, and opportunity of the
students.
1. What are the standard land area of
elementary school, agricultural school and
trade and industrial school?
2. How measurement of land area/site of the
school affects in their class offering?
3. What are the things to be consider in
finding the proper sites or location to build
the schools?
 Design of the School Building
 In the Philippines, due to limitations of land area and
even budgets basic needs are taken into consideration.
 We have implemented rules that the size of the site
must meet the requirements of enrolment and kind of
school as well as the recreation needs of the students.
 Goal
 Governance
 Parents involvement
 Student body
 Student conduct
 Curriculum
1. Barrio School
 A.) one half hectare which has only 1 to 2 classes
and no grade above Grade VI.
 B.) one hectare - offers 4 classes
2. Central School -
 A,) one hectare- offers six classes
 B.) two hectares- for school which have 7 or 9
classes
 C.) three hectares- for school which have from 10
to 12 classes
 D .) Four hectares- for school which have more
than 12 classes.
Similarly, standards for sites in trade and
industrial school have been set by the
DepEd.
 Site must meet the requirements of the
students and the curriculum they are
following.
 the needs of the school plants and future
development and expansion should be met.
It must also be clean and free from
squatters.
 Four hectares, preferable land that is level
and with appropriate drainage.
 Strategically located in the service area, in
fairly large community where there are
feeder roads and assurance enrollees.
 Accessible for transportation facilities along
the highway and feeder roads and close to
steady supply of water.
 Located at reasonable distance or away
from army installations, cockpits, prison,
cemetery and manufacturing
establishment.(BPS, Service Manual 1960).
Standard Agricultural Site:
 Fifty hectares for school sites not
included the four hectares on the
establishment of
school.(SECONDARY)
 Two hundred hectares for main campus
that offers tertiary courses plus 8
hectares for school building.
 Soil must be fertile, appropriate for raising animals ,
crops, fruits, and some form of gardening of agricultural
works.
 Must be close to an adequate source of water supply for
domestic use and irrigation purposes
 The site must be close to highway or feeder road and be
accessible to the greatest number of the population in
order to ensure continuous students enrollees.
 It must be located some distance in town in order to
provide adequate accommodation for outlaying student
farm and settlements.
 It must also reasonable distance from army installation,
cockpits, cemetery, cabarets and prisons.
It is very important to follow the standard
measurement of the land area of the school
so that leaning of the student is not
deprive, secure appropriate facilities for the
safety and provide necessary facilities for
the students opportunity to learn the
different aspect of knowledge while they
are in the school premises.
