SOFTWARE
A collection of instructions that enable the user to interact with a computer, its hardware, or perform tasks. Without software, most computers would be useless.
Presentation detailing the various ways that technology can be integrated into a Language Arts classroom lesson, using a unit on literary themes as a focal point. Made for the Quinnipiac M.A.T. program using Microsoft PowerPoint 2013.
Understanding text structures is an important reading skill because it aids comprehension of informational texts. Get middle school students started the process of understanding and analyzing Text Structures and Organizations with this engaging PowerPoint presentation. Presentation addresses the five most common structures: : description, chronological, cause/effect, compare/contrast, and problem/solution. Examples and teacher instructions are included. Aligned to Common Core ELA-Literacy Standards: RI.6.1, 7.1, 8.1; 5.11C; 6.10C; 7.10C; 8.10C.
Before students can accurately summarize and analyze a text, they must be able to identify a story’s central conflict. An understanding of that central struggle is integral to understanding a work’s overriding themes. (Common Core Reading Anchor Standards 2 and 5) This powerful, interactive PowerPoint presentation is designed to instruct middle and high school students how to quickly identify the core conflicts of literary pieces to ensure accurate summarization and structural analysis. In particular this presentation meets CCSS ELA Literacy Standards RL 7.3 and 8.3.

Builder.ai Founder Sachin Dev Duggal's Strategic Approach to Create an Innova...Ramesh Iyer
In today's fast-changing business world, Companies that adapt and embrace new ideas often need help to keep up with the competition. However, fostering a culture of innovation takes much work. It takes vision, leadership and willingness to take risks in the right proportion. Sachin Dev Duggal, co-founder of Builder.ai, has perfected the art of this balance, creating a company culture where creativity and growth are nurtured at each stage.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

28. 20. Metaphor, Simile, Irony
A poacher who killed elephants for their tusks
snuck into a wild life refuge's animal hospital area
to kill a sick elephant because he thought it would

apparently constipation, and the medicine they
gave the old fellow decided to take effect about
this time. The poacher was trying to sneak up
behind the elephant, trying to get close enough to
pop it with a tranquilizer without making too much
noise. As he got just behind the elephant, out
gushed about 2 weeks worth of... well... crap. The
poacher was completely buried and smothered to
death.
29. Review Your Notes
What is the difference between a
simile and a metaphor?
Name an example of either hyperbole
or personification in song lyrics.
Create a simile to describe your
current mood.
Why would a writer use
personification to describe a
character’s emotions.
