3. ABC1
The ABC1 is a ranking of social
class, depending on occupation,
and other generalized factors.
Considering zombie land and
analyzing the audience its reaching
I would argue that is would attract
middle class downwards (B-E). I
believe this due to the witty and
generalized humor amongst many,
while high class may be exempt
from this humor as they have a less
generalized life style compare to
someone who is middle class.
4. DEMOGRAPHICS
What is demographics?
A study of population by age gender education and employment.
Relating that to zombie land you can precisely pick and look in depth at
what sort of audience would be attracted. Firstly focusing on gender, you
can stereotypically suggest that boys/men as boy are said to be all about the
’gross’ stuff of blood guts and gory, more so than girls, and taking this into
consideration I would argue, that it is more so aimed towards the male
gender, if you are standardizing likes and interests. The age of the movie
would be around teens to middle aged people, the humor is quite fresh and
new, and may not be understood by older generation due to it new witty
Banta, so around a pre-family catergory . The education which would be
related to zombie land would be average standard education as you do not
need any sort of higher education in order to understand the concept of the
film, along with employment which was explained in the ABC1 slide, of a
middle class downwards viewing.
5. EXPECTATION VS INTERPRESATION
Audience Expectations and Interpretation
How does the film match or subvert the expectation of the audience? How does it
follow the traditions and expectations of the genre does it alter and change any
expectations to surprise the audience?
Does it use the bus technique (build for a jump and then use a second none jump
after the initial fake jump scare like in Alien), how does it use music to build
suspense. When there is a scare does the audience expect it.
Do the same characters you expect to die, do these fill the stereotypes of the
characters that die in film.
6. SECONDARY AUDIENCE
The secondary audience I would ague it hits, is high class
personality's, who enjoy witty humor and females who are not into
zombie based films.
A secondary is where it exposes content to a audience which is not
intended to be entertained.
Core Audience
The core audience of would be genre fans, so fans of horror and
comedy, and I believe the film really portrays a good medium of the
two
8. PURPOSE OF ZOMBIE LAND
Purpose
the purpose of zombie land is to portray a zombie appoloysps in a more comedical way.
It was made to attract both genres of horror and comedy, together into one film to extend the
audience of people who would be reliant on watching it and this means that money made from it
would be extended as it pleases both fans of horror and comedy. You could also suggest that it
promotes a message of family meaning and how its all you ever look for is a family to feel safe,
around them the world is basically ending and they all long for a family love.
Why was it made, consider how it makes money?
The film is a certain genre consider what it needs to be successful in that genre? If is a horror film
does it need to be scary and make the audience jump to be successful?
Is the film designed to raise awareness or deal with ongoing themes and issues?
Does a certain gender jump out?
Is race an issue in zombie land?
Social class an issue?
