target is to firstly create profit for its franchise and secondly to create recognition for a message
or meaning if you go into depth in the films analysis, I would firmly say that the focus of zombie
land would not be a message or meaning being presented, and its focus would be money. From
analyzing it in depth you can see a form of a message of ‘unity’ and ‘team work’ however it is
not developed in depth for it to be clearly presented for those purposes.
However, you can argue that it is also starting an introduction into the horror comedy genre,
which helps to convey new emotions to the viewer, and be a key entertainment to the viewers.
While there are other comedy horror films, there are very few which means the competition is
harder, as you must follow typical pattern of this genre for it to be a success. One filmin which I
can compare the work of zombie land to is ‘Dawn of the dead’ it follows very a similar structure
and details such as zombie land. For example, how the characters react to situation in a more
humane way, rather than how they do in typical horror films, characters in this genre react in
such a way is relatable and comedic to the audience, contributing towards its success.
The purpose was achieved by creating a direct audience and expanding it by adding a genre to
it. Zombie land itself is a horror but classed as a comedy horror, which expands the audience in
which they want to appeal to. Comedy is one of the top grossing genres in the filmindustry so
by having that incorporated helps to create a wider appeal towards the film, and helps with the
purpose of profit. Its box office profit raked in $102.4 million dollars, clearly shows how its
purpose was achieved.
Zombie Land has made money due to the film being a success. Zombie land was a critical and
commercial success, grossing more than $60.8 million in 17 days and surpassing the 2004 film
‘Dawn of the Dead’ as one of the top grossing zombie film in the United States which also
introduces the zombie horror genre. From this we can infer that it was a highly successful film,
targeting its audience, and even a secondary audience. You could argue that the popularity was
high due to it being such a diverse film in the sense of its genre, with the light-hearted horror
aspects and comedic ways it was able to reach many peoples perceptive. The filmdid not have
a 18 age restriction, meaning it had a 15 aged rating. While many horror films have an 18,
meaning the younger audience is never made to be targeted at but due to its ways it able to
reach a wider spectrum of audience from 15 year olds to adult, which would obviously create
popularity for the film, and money.
The popularity of it is high and attracts a lot of secondary audiences. From its success and
surpassing the highly popular film (also in the same genre of the horror comedy) of ‘dawn of
the dead’, and as explained earlier reaches out to many ages groups. General horror fans would
be attracted to this as expected and even the niche group of zombie horror fans, and may even
show they another insight to the zombie horror genre. Different factors like so help to expand
the popularity of the film,
