Question 5
1.
2. MY AUDIENCE
• My magazine is aimed at teenagers and young adults between
15 and 25 interested in popular music. My magazine focuses
mainly on the music of popular artists and chart hits, the most
popular area of the music with the widest and most mainstream
fan base. My magazine is suitable for both male and females
equally as both sexes are equally interested in popular music.
This is a similar genre to other magazines such as Billboard, who
also attract a similar audience.
3. • I have used a simple and informal style of magazine in order to
appeal to the younger audience as it is not complicated and easy to
read. I have also included lots of large images which take up a lot of
space on my pages, making the design balance more informal. This
casual approach to the design balance is similar to other
magazines such as the NME, which also target a youthful audience.
•
By using this simple style the magazine also looks more
professional and like a real magazine, rather than being to
busy and confusing on the page.
4. • The use of elements of bright, fun colours makes the magazine more
aesthetically pleasing and appealing to look at. The use of sophisticated
and simplistic sans serif fonts makes the magazine appear to be
contemporary and stylish. The colloquial, chatty tone of my magazine is
youthful and friendly, which will encourage my target audience to read
and enjoy the content.
• I also addressed my audience by including text
and cover lines that my audience would be
interested in, by using buzz words and
hyperbole, such as “ WHAT REALLY HAPPENED
AT THE GRAMMYS”. This technique catches the
readers attention and also addresses current
news and events that my audience would by
intrigued by.
