This document summarizes research on second language learning and teaching in Iran. The research aimed to describe how a second language is learned and taught in Iran, identify the main patterns and issues in acquiring a second language, and illustrate different teaching techniques for teachers. The knowledge in the research was empirical, based on the author's experiences learning English in high school through traditional teaching methods like Grammar Translation and Audio-Lingual. The research provides descriptive details of how a group of individuals learned English as a second language in Iran and the methods used to teach the second language in classrooms.
1. Second Language Learning And Teaching in Iran
The aim objective of this research was to give us a general description
about how a language is learned and taught as a second language in Iran
. And also, the project was carried out in order to identify the principal
patterns and issues about getting a second language. what is more it
talked about the different techniques and methods to teach a second
language and so, illustrate to the teachers and they can use these
methods and techniques in their own teaching practices .
2. Type of knowledge
The type of knowledge in this research was empirical
because it was based on own experiences of the author and
his colleagues when they were studying English in the high
school .For example, he said that his teacher had a traditional
role of speaking ,explaining and writing in the blackboard and
also his teacher applied some methods like Grammar
Translation Method(GTM) and Audio -lingual Method (ALM).
3. Type of research
This is a descriptive research because it gives details of a
case of study about how a group of individuals learned
English as a second language in Iran. And also all the
methods and techniques that were used to teach the
second language in the classroom.
