How Has The Holocaust Affected The World Today
1. How Has The Holocaust Affected The World Today
Individuals in this world today, who was affected by the Holocaust in some way would be affected
more if they didn't even know the truth. If history was not recorded, the world would be different
than from what it is today. Literature helps people see the damage done by using truth while giving
an emotional connection to the Holocaust victims.
Literature can play in remembering the Holocaust victims by reading their stories and keeping the
memory of them alive. For example; The Diary of Anne Frank, and Quiet Resistance."The hiding
place of the Franks is converted into a permanent museum that tells the story of Anne and those who
hid with her"(1960, Timeline). With the hiding place and diary of Anne Frank, being converted to the

As for example, if we remember how the world was silent and didn't stand up to the things that were
wrong, then we could learn from that and stand up for what we think is right. "Because if we forget,
we are guilty, we are accomplices"(Wiesel, paragraph 7).If the world forgot about the mistakes it
had made, it would be like as if it never happened. We won't Honor those in knowing the tragedies
faced. Literature reminds people of today what happened, and honor the victims."Final Solution' had
already resulted in the deaths of about six million Jews"(Paragraph 8).If the world had not kept
silent, the deaths of nearly a whole generation would not have happened. If these numbers were seen
in a movie or told in a story, it would not be believable. But, If it were seen in a nonfiction textbook,
it would be seen for what it is, the truth. Not exaggerated, or fake details, but the reality. Honoring
the Holocaust victims will involve learning from our mistakes and not keep silent when it is

its older book and 2,000 for the newer books. Mr. Bury could not fully understand why he was not
able to sell as many old books as he did a new book. Through carefully listening to Ms. Budley on
how she improved her artwork business by increasing the prices, Mr. Bury decided it will be in his
best interest to increase the prices of the old books.
Methods to Determine Profit Maximizing Quantity
Choosing to increase the price of his old books would seem as though he is making a bad business
decision, but it will allow an increase in revenue to take place. Mr. Bury can calculate is total
revenue by examining how much the quantity of good sold and then multiply it by its price. This
type method is used to measure how much money a company makes from selling its products;
before any cost are considered (Tucker, 2013, para.4). Mr. Bury business can choose to sell his older

5. Women as News Anchors Essay
Women As News Anchors
Women in all careers are striving to gain equality in the work force today, and female television
news anchors are definitely part of the fight. The road to television news anchoring is a rocky one,
where only a few women survive and many fail. Where progress was once thought to have been
made, there aren't many females getting ahead in the world of television news. Today, there is a very
slow, if any, gain in the numbers of women who succeed. There are many questions surrounding the
subject of women in television news, and I will attempt to answer relevant ones in this paper. How
have the women that actually make it to the top and succeed as anchorwomen, done it?
What does it take to make it? Why do those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was relevant to my paper in answering the question of why there are certain expectations of
women in television news. The textbook, Gender, Race and Class in Media had a few chapters
relevant to my paper. Larry Gross wrote a chapter titled, "Out of the
Mainstream: Sexual Minorities and Mass Media." He discussed various stereotypes in our society
that lead to stereotypes in all areas of our lives. I found some of my sources from Oasis, and also
used a couple of magazine articles that were relevant to the subject. I focused on the questions that I
wanted to answer and drew points from the material that were relevant and provided substantial
evidence to answer my questions. I found that opinions and thoughts of women who had been
through the business were most helpful. There was one big limitation I faced if I wanted to prove
that women in television news were discriminated upon based on sex and age. Women have been
fired from their anchor positions, and it has seemed that the reasons were because of looks or aging.
But this is hard to prove. In August, Carol
Schrader, a woman anchor from KETV–TV in Omaha, Nebraska was asked to leave.
She said that it was because of her age, although her bosses didn't say that was the reason, stating
that she wasn't doing her job. She was replace by a young, blond woman. Also, when Marlene
Sanders was asked to leave ABC, instead of saying point–blank that she was too old, her boss told

People do not often stop to think about why the world is how it is today and when people do, they
tend to think about war, victory, defeat, and even their heritage, however many of them neglect to
think about daily necessities that have influenced the outcomes of many different empires. One
major impact on the rise and fall of multiple domains that is often overlooked is food, and in
particular, sugar. Sugar has affected economies, the way of life, and industry all over the world.
Sidney Mintz, author of Sweetness and Power, stops to discuss how sugar has been a basic building

There are many unique and new uses for sugar at this point in time, but how and why are people
coming up with these new uses if sugar is more or less a delicacy? Although, at first it was only
attainted by the rich it did not take long for sugar to take off and reach the hands of the poor and
alter life all over the world. "Sugar was land consuming, labor intensive, costly to extract, store, and
ship (Mintz, 21)." However, sugar does not spoil and this starts off the commercial exchange. The
demand for sugar grew steadily and more westerners started to consume it and started to consume it
more heavily. English plantations started to make the price of sugar more affordable, which created
an even bigger demand that brought about the middle and poor class to upper class consumption
habits. There was a fivefold increase in the consumption of sugar and is the most important
nutritional change of the British. "In this perspective, sugar was the ideal substance. It served to
make a busy life seem less so; in the pause that refreshes, it eased, or seemed to ease, the changes
back and forth from work to rest; it provided swifter sensations of fullness or satisfaction than
complex carbohydrates did; it combined easily with many other food, in some of which it was also

11. How Is World War 2 Relevant Today
World War II was definitely worth it. If World War II would never have happened, moral, economic,
and governmental problems could still be going on today. Such problems include, the American
Great Depression, the Holocaust, and many more starting situations. Although there were an
estimated 40 million total civilian and war casualties, without World War II, many key events in the
world's recent history wouldn't have happened. Under Hitler, the German army lead millions of their
own Jewish citizens to their deaths in concentration camps. If noting had been done, the Holocaust
could still be happening today. Hitler and the Nazi's thought that the Aryan race was dominant and
that the Jews were inferior to them. Most Jews in Germany were taken from their homes and
families. Imagine what that would be like, to have everything stripped from a friend and not be able
to ever see them again, or a long time. The Germans were ruthless and made the Jews work night
and day, without proper food, medical treatment, or clothing. The mission of the concentration

13. The World Is Better Off Today
The World is Better off Today Introduction There are good arguments to be made that the world was
a better place in the late 1950s than it is today. For example, life was simpler than it is today, the
environment was not as badly threatened as it is today, the world economy was not quite so
susceptible to one country's fiscal crisis as it is in today's economy, and global warming had not
begun to melt the glaciers and cause the oceans to rise above the shorelines in many areas of the
world. But a bit more than fifty years later, while there are many problems for mankind to cope with
and try to solve, there is a great deal of evidence that while there are new problems of a serious
nature, on the other hand things are better in the world than they were 50 to 60 years ago. Things are
better today than they were fifty to sixty years ago The World Health Organization (WHO) reports
that while the life expectancy (at birth) in the Third World or the "developing world" was about 41
years in the early 1950s, in 1990 it was 672 years and in 8 more years it is expected to reach 70
years of age. That is an enormous jump in life expectancy in the world. The WHO reports that there
are 20 developing nations where people are already expected to live to the age of 70; several of
those developing nations include China, Malaysia, Mexico, Argentina and Thailand. Another
positive sign within the international health situation is that birth rates are falling "dramatically"

22. Imperialism And Its Impact On The World Today
Imperialism has been one of the most powerful forces in human history, serving to set the
foundation of our modern world. While this has led to the formation of a global society where
cultures, ideas, and innovations are spread across countries, imperialism has also left a history of
exploitation, racism, and violence that is still affecting the world today. Imperial relationships are
always imbalanced when it comes to power and influence; that is, one group (known as the
metropole) maintains authority and control over another group (known as the periphery) with
economic, political, and cultural dominance (Spiegel 2012). There are many reasons why one group
chooses to dominate the other, such as expanding territory, extracting raw resources to fuel
economic development, or to spread their beliefs (i.e. religion) (Spiegel 2012). In spite of these
varied reasons, one of the main motivators for imperialism began with competition between
empires. Empires have shaped world history in both good and bad ways. From changing regional
and global power dynamics to diffusing goods, ideas, animals, vegetation, people, and even
illnesses, empires have cultivated peace and instigated war (Spiegel 2012). Groups of people have
been decimated while others flourished (Spiegel 2012). Before imperialism, empires did exist (i.e.
Aztecs, Incas, etc) but were separated by geographical barriers, such as deserts, oceans, mountains,
etc. It was with the invention of the sextant that allowed European

24. How Did World War 1 Effect Today
The occurrence of World War II is frequently seen as an effect of World War I. Although this idea is
debatable, there are many facts that support this concept. It is believable that this theory is one of the
most arguable topics brought up when mentioning European history. In fact, World War 1 not only
caused World War II but it also gave fuel to the rise of Hitler, the Nazis, anti–Semitism, and other
numerous worldwide effects still seen today. Notably, World War 1 was truly global because it is
often perceived as a domino effect between allied nations. Much like political conflicts today,
disputes often lead to additional consequences that seem to never end. World War 1, often called the
Great War, all began when a Serbian assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand, the soon to be
successor of the Austrian throne, on July 28, 1914. As a result, Austria–Hungary declared war on
Serbia and soon enough, national powers took sides. In fact, "German leader Kaiser Wilhelm

nations and ethnic groups which was exasperated by economic loss"(Haven). Although there are
many more causes of World War II, tensions and economic loss allowed Germans to create a sense
of superiority over other nations. Political groups soon to form as such as the Nazi Party–Adolf

As propaganda, the purpose of the war is "to contain the spread of communism from North Viet
Nam to U.S.–backed South Viet Nam" (Brewer 179). All right, let's assimilate what is just saying
here. In the early 50s, how many average American citizens have the knowledge of where Viet Nam
is? North Viet Nam? How about South Viet Nam? So, when President Johnson claims that by
stopping communism in Viet Nam that would save freedom in America hometown, is that obscure?
Is Viet Nam communist rage war on America hometown? And if so, why are we not defending our

journalists. Scarce are women confidently voicing their political opinions on reputable news
channels. Scarce are truly powerful female journalists. In reality, this problem goes unnoticed by
most– in fact, despite being a news and politics aficionado, it didn't hit me until recently that women
were so blatantly marginalized in this industry. It is perfectly valid to question the relevancy of such
an obscure issue, but obscurity does not equate to unimportance. Portraying women unequally in the
media defies not only our principles, but also the nation's principles. How can we claim that we are
a nation of equal opportunity if we don't practice what we preach? We must encourage women to
increase their political awareness and take on leadership roles in the media, especially in covering

The United States was referred to as a "sleeping giant". Trading was limited at this time. After the
Battle of Britain, the United States people started to feel a need to be less of an isolationist state.
World War II was the last time the United States took to the true idea of isolationism.
What would an Isolationist America look like? The United States has taken the role as a world
interventionist in many conflicts. In an Isolation state, we would no longer be getting involved in
those conflicts. The United States would pull its troops out of locations all around the world. The
United States would seek to be more independent both economically, and with the use of its military.
World trade would be significantly decreased and the tariff rates would increase. The United States
would leave the United Nations and cut ties and relations with other countries. The military budget
of the country would decrease significantly, but the national security defense would increase. In this
state, it would expose you as a nation because of the lack of allies. This makes it necessary to have a
large and sophisticated defense. The isolation outlook takes away the threat of war unless you are
directly attacked. In 2013, 52 percent of Americans agreed that their country should mind its own

because of traditions or rituals, the way we dress based on our religion or the place we worship.
However the one thing we all have in common is we turn to religion to guide us in one way or
another for greater depth or to set us down the right path in life. Firstly there is Hinduism. Hindus
believe that their position in today's society was determined by the things they did or participated in,
in their previous lives. For example, if a person's behaviour in the past was very negative instead of
positive, Hindus believe that those people will have deep hardships or problems because of that.
Every Hindus main goal in life is to escape from all negativity so it does not ever come back to
them. They also believe that only the soul matters and rebirths are possible after their souls are at
rest. Hindus often worship at home or do Temple worship. Worshippers in this religion repeat the
names of their favourite Gods and Goddesses, and repeat mantras. Things such as water, fruit and
flowers are offered to God. Secondly there is Judaism. There are three types of Jews. Orthodox
(Traditional), Conservative (Middle Ground), Reform (Modern). Jews have a daily prayer that they

42. Summary Of Amid Measles Outbreak
Amid Measles Outbreak, Anti–vaccine Doctor Revels in his Notoriety Terrence McCoy is a foreign
affairs reporter for the Washington Post. On January 30th, McCoy published a telephone interview
with Dr. Jack Wolfson about the anti–immunization controversy. Dr. Wolfson is a cardiologist who
now does holistic medicine and supports the anti–immunization movement. According to
WebMd.com, "holistic medicine is a form of healing that considers the whole person: body, mind,
spirit, and emotions, in the quest for optimal health and wellness". In his interview Dr. Wolfson
called "bad mothers" who vaccinate their children without knowing or caring about what chemicals
are in them. According to Dr. Wolfson, we should let children have measles, chicken pox, rubella,
mumps because "these are the rights of our children to get it." When I read this phrase, I asked

Wolfson stated in his interview "Measles is not a big deal." Measles outbreak in the United States
has increased tremendously since parents refuse to have their children vaccinated. The Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has published a report, "Measles Cases and Outbreaks," that
shows how the measles cases have been increase nationwide. This controversy started when "The
Lancet" published a research made by Dr. Andrew Wakefield, who suggested the vaccine can cause
autism. After investigation the British medical journal published an article criticizing Dr.Wakefield
and accusing him of fraud. As a result "The Lancet" retracted the research. The dishonest research

44. Comparing Brave New World And Society Today
The society in the book Brave New World, and society today have many similarities and differences.
The society in Brave New World is obsessed with happiness. The Government (World State) uses
soma and sex freely to keep people content. Our societies use on drugs is widely argued, but as we
progress through the years the laws are becoming more lenient. States such as California and many
others have passed laws legalizing the recreational use of marijuana. Progression is happening and
before long we could be using drugs as freely as they do in the dystopian society.
A major similarity between the book and society is that they both rely on technology to control
society. In modern society technology plays a huge role in the way that tasks are completed. This is
very closely related to what Huxley had written "Everyone works for everyone else. We can't do
without anyone"(Huxley 91). This is related to our society by the fact that everyone has a specific
part to play for things to work properly. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Modern society doesn't mass produce babies, but over the years it has began producing test tube
babies. These babies can be formed however the parent wants them to be. These babies in both the
book and society aren't grown inside a body, but instead formed outside of the female. In the future
the mass producing of babies is more than likely to become a reality, taking us even closer to this
dystopian society.
A major difference in the two pieces is the idea of family has completely been discarded in Brave
New World. The word mother is frowned upon because it regards a family. In society today Families
have always been very important. Our society sometimes debates the meaning of the word "family',
but no one suggests that families should be thrown away and replaced with the morals the World

46. Democracy And Government In Ancient Greece And The Western...
One of the most influential civilizations to the Western world today is Ancient Greece. The enduring
traditions and institutions that Greek culture extended to most of the Western World include
government and democracy, philosophy, literature, and architecture. The United States (US) and
other Western civilizations used these traditions in the past and continue to in modern society.
Ancient Greece is the place where modern democracy and government originated from. Democracy
is a word that has Greek origin and is defined as the government by the people to rule. Greece's
form of government was a direct democracy where the citizens voted for their decision rather than
electing people to make the decision. Athens a Greek city–state established the earliest form of
democracy. Greek democracy was separated into three ruling bodies known as the Assembly,
Council and the Courts. The Assembly elected certain officials and made laws. Majority rules, a
system in which a group with the most votes has power was used to make decisions in the
Assembly. Currently, in the United States, the government system they use is a democracy because
of Greece. A key difference between the Greek and US democracy is that the US uses an indirect
democracy, in which the citizens vote on who should represent them. The essence of the US voting
system is implemented because Ancient Greece conducted the motion by allowing people to vote on
essential matters. When The founding fathers of the

48. The Problems that Our World Faces Today Essay
The Problems that Our World Faces Today The earth is considered as one of the most beautiful
planets in the universe. It is the only planet in our galaxy that has enough water to support life.
Unfortunately our planet is suffering due to many problems which should be solved before it is too
late. The major problems that are facing our world today are population, pollution and animal
extinction. One of the problems facing our world is population. It began about ten thousand years
ago when the humans settled and began farming. The farming provides more food for the people
thus making the population grow. Now we are about 6 billion in population and in a few years we
will be around 10 to 11 billion. Therefore, our population will ... Show more content on

Pollution is another major factor that is threatening our world today. One example of pollution is
nitrogen. Humans are adding about 130 to 150 million tons over the 90 to 150 tons that are produced
by the nitrogen cycle. This excess in nitrogen causes coastal waters and estuaries to grow toxic
algae, killing the fish and trapping the solar heat in the air. Another example of pollution is methane.
Methane is produced by gases released by cows, termite mounds or by the bottom of rice paddy. If
found in the air methane is very poisonous. By raising more cattle, cutting more tropical forests,
thus increasing the amount of termites, and by growing more rice, the methane concentration in the
air is almost twice as higher as it was 160,000 years ago. Smoke is another pollution factor. Smoke
that is produced by cars contains carbon dioxide (CO2). This carbon dioxide in the air causes global
warming, which results in the green house effect and climate changes. Satellite studies show that
perhaps we will increase the temperature by 3.6 degrees by the year 2001. The warmer the weather
the more water it can hold, the higher the precipitation will be. The higher the precipitation the more
clouds, the more rain, and the more snow there will be. This will result in more storms and floods.
Studies by Thomas Karl of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration showed that the
total winter precipitation in the US has increased to about 10% since

I chose assessment #10: Authenticity Scale (Biswas–Diener, 2010, p. 122) for my assessment.
Between this current quarter and the last, I pushed myself beyond limits on another section of the
Appalachian Trail. On the morning of day number 3 out of 6, I snapped a selfie of myself as I
crested a ridge line on a bald (treeless ridge line with unlimited views). The photo was unique and
looked manipulated with a filter due to the glare from the sunrise burning through thin patches of
fog spilling over the ridge as if the mountain was an airfoil. That photo is now my Facebook profile
picture and titled, "Nothing artificial." I have always pushed myself to be true and authentic in all I
do. That does not mean being perfect, it means being honest with myself.
Unfortunately, this strength of authenticity (i.e., the VIA strength of honesty is further defined as
being authentic with integrity) facilitates a mindset that does not tolerate others who are not. One of
my other strengths (as tested in a spiritual gifts test) is discernment. I can usually tell when someone
is not being authentic. I strive to be authentic and I expect the same from others if they want me to
trust them.
The news is full of stories of a lack thereof in this strength of being authentic. Yesterday, Matt Lauer

The practise of censorship – the restriction of ideas, action or image through the control of the media
or any other medium of expression. Censorship should be practised sensibly so that it will not
restrict the development and expression of new ideas while ensuring that social and political
harmony is assured. Censorship plays a vital role in maintaining the morals of its society and
creating an economically dynamic, socially cohesive and culturally vibrant nation. (N.A, N.D) The
press exert a significant influence on the public and is partly responsible for the views and values
that many hold. Hence, it should be responsible with what it put forth to the public. Singapore has
gradually moved from film censorship to film classification and now to the focus on media literacy.
Media Authority of Singapore (MDA) plays a significant role in regulating and conducting matters
pertaining to the media. It is guided by legislation/acts such as Media Development Authority of
Singapore Act, code of practice and guideline to comply and enforce the entities. In this term paper,
we will discuss how the media handle censorship and classification related matters as well as
reviewing the Films Appeal Committee under the films act policy. In this regard, recommendations

Metropolitan areas exhibit an amazing diversity of features, economic structures, amounts of
infrastructure, historic roots, patterns of development, and degrees of conventional planning. Yet,
lots of the problems that they deal with are strikingly acquainted. For example, as metropolitan areas
grow, they grow to be increasingly diverse.
Major territories have its fairly more affluent and relatively poorer communities. In developed city,
poorer neighborhoods might have dramatically lower levels of basic services.
Consequently, numerous colonial residents in the city experience to a greater or even lesser extent
coming from severe environmental well being challenges of lack of clean water, inadequate
sewerage facilities, & insufficient solid waste materials disposal.
The condition of water and cleanliness in the world's cities found that water syndication systems are

Brave New World Versus Today?s Society
Brave New World is a shocking story that tells of a utopian society placed hundreds of years in the
future. It challenges the human race as a whole to see if it can overcome the sudden sweep of vast
improvements in science and technology, and if humans can learn how to use their inventions with
dignity and respectfully on mankind. In Brave New World, Huxley does not try to accurately
describe what the future will hold, rather he predicts a future in which humans have succumb to the
awe of science and the power that comes with it.

Another marvel of the world is medical technology in my opinion. We now have the technology to
provide people that have missing limbs with fake ones so that they can continue on living their lives
and enjoy it. This is just incredible. Many infectious diseases such as Chicken Pox, Malaria,
Measles and Tuberculosis have been conquered through vaccines, antibiotics, and improved living
conditions. Cancer has become a more common illness, but treatments have been developed that
effectively combat some forms of the disease .We also have the technology to control abnormal
heart rhythms with the use of a pacemaker. I think pacemakers are absolutely fantastic, such a clever
idea. Pacemakers have prolonged people with heart conditions life span and made life easier for
them to live. The way a little camera can be inserted into the body to look at problems/diseases,
completely puts me in awe. Also heart and lung transplants are one of the marvels of today's world.
This again saves people's lives. The way that a team of doctors and nurses are able to take out a
patient's heart or lung and put in a new one so that they can live is truly a marvel. Medical
technology is just phenomenal and unbelievable. Through technology, millions of lives have been
saved and improved dramatically. This is why I'd consider it to be one of the marvels of today's
world.

66. The Pros And Cons Of Sexual Harassment
Sexual harassment accusations regarding public figures has been one of the most popular news we
see on social media these days. "Sexual harassment becomes a crime only when there is a
nonconsensual touching or sexual contact that can be prosecuted." (Henning, 2017). Some of the
accused individuals are admitting their guilt in some of these situations, while many are denying
these allegations, particularly those that occurred decades ago. In many of the instances, money and
other valuable considerations are being used to get documents signed that swore the party marking
the claim to silence regarding the matter, or pay back the money with interest. This probably
because it is much easier and cheaper to pay someone off than to fight this slander/libel in court.
The most recently talked about news of sexual harassment was about Harvey Weinstein, an
American Film producer and former film executive. At the beginning of October this year, many
women came forward to accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment and rape including, by Rose
McGowan, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ashley Judd and many others. The humiliated producer had been fired
from his company and Manhattan district attorney is currently seeking indictment against him.

Even though Brave New World was a story told more than 70 years ago, I still believe it's relevant
today. I can see why people would argue that it's not because during that time the world was
definitely different than it is today, but the topics the story talked about seemed like they were more
toward my generation. The motto of the people in their world was to live a lifestyle based on the
concept of community, stability, and identity. It changed the whole outlook on what we claim we
live by which is life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. With the story being based on sex and drugs,
it makes you think; are we kind of heading toward that way of living because of how relaxed we've

The novel describes a society in which "fetuses are raised in glass jars and are chemically
manipulated to produce humans of distinct classes and abilities. People are little more than

reality; the reproductive technologies that are currently available are already threatening our own
evolution and human procreation. Science has practically taken over God's role in our lives. Many
of the God–less scientific availabilities today share the same immoral and undignified qualities of
the Utopia's advances; such as bottled embryos, surrogate wombs, cloning, genetic screening and

One of the greatest challenges facing our world today is hunger. The other is accumulating enough
resources to support a rapidly growing population. There are multiple solutions out there, each
covering one piece of the puzzle. They range from genetically modified plants that increase yields
enough so that they meet the demand and reduce pesticide usage to simply rationing resources. I
propose that we follow the age old adage; give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man
to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. But instead we replace fishing with gardening. Education is
our strongest weapon against the growing threat to food security. Community gardens can also play
a key role in uniting and strengthening community relationships. The Lichgate garden is a beautiful
and tranquil place. The flowers bloom in gorgeous colors and trees give shade to sweaty volunteers
and paths create a peaceful and soothing setting. The garden is well maintained and it required little
weeding and tending. You can just tell by listening that a lot of the volunteers there already know a
lot about what they are doing and are so welcoming and willing to share their knowledge. Of course
it is an educational garden but what I most enjoyed was just making things look pretty and beautiful.
It is hard work but you get so much out of it.
The environmental problems that face the world today are many. And it is impossible to tackle them
all as an individual or even as one small, motivated group.

Just what is consumerism, and is it beneficial or detrimental to our economy and society? Basically,
consumerism is the ideology that people must buy products and services in order to allow the
economy to function correctly, but is this line of thinking accurate? It is entirely possible that
consumerism is creating a downward slope, leading us into greed and selfishness; but it is also
argued that consumerism is merely a means to stimulate the economy and produce a better society
as a whole. There are flaws in the system of course: pollution, greed, wasted materials; but there are
also benefits to it, such as, the creation of new jobs, the growth of businesses, and even a show of
patriotism. In essence, consumerism is both a positive and a negative force in the modern world,

views more than ever and our world today has been like this for quite a while now, but it seems only

language against another race and gets taunted for it, and then a minority uses racist language to any
