1. Pugetopolis is the region in Washington state which is the Puget Sound region in the Pacific
Northwest coastal area. Pugetopolis has nine counties. King, Pierce, Snohomish, and Kitsap being
the four largest and most populated. Pugetopolis has two large ports, the Port of Tacoma and Port of
Seattle. As Pugetopolis grew, its population and industries have also grown and has become a harbor
with a metropolitan area with approximately 3.5 million people. Pugetopolis has changed
dramatically over the years, it has become home to many big companies such Amazon and
Microsoft and the population continues to grow each year.

Raleigh Hills is a small suburb just within Portland city limits, in the southwest hills of Washington
County, though many often mistake it for being within Beaverton. Housing a population of 5,896
people as of the 2010 census, the vast majority of the population is composed of either married

Yes, there are a few local businesses in the area, but very few are worth mentioning, at least by
Portland's standards. There's a McMenamins bar and a highly acclaimed lumber supply store, but
otherwise, it's either chains or shady storefronts. What I find so funny about my neighborhood is
how desperately they try to be like Portland, or the "mainland" as I like to call it. But alas, it is
merely a subsidiary, its own entity, despite what any of the zoning codes may state. Most people
when in the area are there because they're obligated to; they need to run errands, pick up their kids

music as loud as I want with no complaints, other than those who actually live in my house. I don't
fear someone looking in on me whilst relaxing in my rumpled PJ's, my greasy hair pulled into a bun

The research was performed by Jose Vidot to examine the effectiveness of SIOP implementation in a
Washington state high school (2011). The school was 93.1% Hispanic, and 93.7% of students
received free or reduced lunch. Before the implementation of SIOP, only 4.8% of tenth graders were
proficient on the Washington State math exam in 2008–2009 (Vidot, 2011). After a year of
implementation, 32.8% of tenth graders were proficient on the 2009–2010 Washington state math
exam. Further qualitative analysis showed that the students of teachers who had previous experience
with and positive views of the SIOP program outperformed their peers who had teachers with less
experience or negative views of the SIOP program (Vidot, 2011).
Though SIOP professional development was once offered regularly by the St. Lucie County School
District, the training has not been offered officially by the district for many years. It is recommended
that the school first reach out to the district to see if professional development for SIOP or another
ELL instructional strategy program could be offered on select days to all teachers. If that is not

Washington State Capitol Analysis
The state of Washington has gone through a lot throughout its years. Settling the first town,
choosing a state capitol, constructing the capitol buildings, and selecting the states administration
are just a few pieces of Washington's history.
The first town settled in Washington was Steilacoom. It was settled in January of 1851, while
Washington was not yet a state. Two reasons Steilacoom was successful was that it had good wood
and gold industries. Today, the town only has about 6,000 people living there. Even though it was
the first town established, it was not even in the race to be the state capitol.
After Washington became a state in November 11, 1889, the home of the capitol had to be decided
upon. The state capitol was established on November 4, 1890. When they voted Olympia received
25,490 votes, North Yakima 14,711, Ellensburg 12,833, Centralia 607, Yakima City (now Union
Gap) 314, and Pasco 130. On the second vote they took the top three out of the last vote and
Olympia was designated the state capital with 37,413 votes.

On June 10th, 1999 a gasoline pipeline ruptured in Whatcom Falls Park. This park is located in
Bellingham, Washington where the pipeline was controlled by the Olympic Pipeline Company. This
break in the gasoline pipeline let over a million liters of gasoline flow into a nearby river in the park.
After about an hour and a half the gasoline in the river ignited and caught on fire. The fire burnt

As I looked out the window, I saw walls of rocks all over the place. I also saw a lot of good rock
exposure on the top of the mountain where the rock was to steep for the snow to stick to. You will

When you look at a topographic map of Mount Baker, you will notice many different structures and

within Mount Baker. These two faults are the Straight Creek Fault and the Ross Lake Fault Zone;
these faults are thought to be primarily strike–slip. In addition, on the geologic map you will notice
the Sherman Crater, which originated from a large hydrovolcanic explosion (Tabor, Haugerud,

I have done all three of these fantastic journeys and I can say that they are very amazing and that
they are wonderful for getting some exercise. Angel's Landing is the most strenuous climb, but it is
so cool because you are basically hiking up a small mountain and at some parts one side is a rock

Prepare for war! That is what you hear and your heart stops while your jaw opens and you gasp for
air that is not there. While the history and establishment of Camp Lewis is not as important as
preparing for war, it is important to know the past in order to help posture and mold the future of
tomorrow. The idea for Camp Lewis was fought for by the civilian populace of Pierce County in
Washington State. Late in1916, as war continued to escalate in Europe, a private group of concerned
citizens gathered at American Lake to organize a training program designed for civilian personnel.
The program was designed to encourage readiness among the community in preparation for the
possibility of going to war in Europe. One of the attending civilians was a cadet named Stephen
Appleby. Mr. Appleby (a former Captain in the Minnesota National Guard) was vice–president of
the Northwest Business Men's Preparedness League and a bank cashier for Tacoma Washington. He
was informed that the Army was sending out a survey team to the Northwest in search of
establishing an Army Post. Mr. Appleby contacted the commander of the survey team and asked him
to make a site visit of the camp that the community had established as possibility of use for the
Army. Captain Richard Parks (Army survey team commander) visited Pierce County as requested
and found it to be impressive. Major General J. Franklin Bell visited the area after hearing the

This once untouched wilderness is being tainted by companies looking to expand in every corner of
the country. Wal–Mart has been able to push its way into the small town, with promises of more jobs
and low prices. Local business owners are feeling the strain. They are now fighting against an
expansion of the current Wal–Mart to a Super Wal–Mart. Large signs advertising Starbucks and
Burger King are in stark contrast to the environment around them.
The jobs being offered by these large companies are hard to say no to by the residents of Port
Orchard. A low to middle class population, they find good jobs are hard to come by close to home.
Most work at the giant shipyard in the next town, or commute to larger surrounding cities like
Bremerton, Tacoma, or Seattle. A ferry travels from Bremerton to Seattle on the hour everyday. It is
one of the few ferries in the United States that are used frequently by commuters.
Though Port Orchard is growing, the excitement of the metropolitan across the water is still a great

strong force in the MAPP process and serve as excellent resource in the formation of the Pierce
County Community Health Assessment, however additional members are needed to round out the
team. The MAPP Task Force is forming a subcommittee of members who will make up the
Community Teams and Strengths Assessment team (CTSA). The purpose of CTSA is to gather
information from the community that will help answer important questions such as ""How is quality
of life perceived in our community?" and "What assets do we have that can be used to improve
community health?" (NACCHO.org, 2013). Working together, the CTSA team will dive deep into
the community to understand what the residents feel is the most important issues in their county. The
CTSA subcommittee will be larger than the CHSA subcommittee out of necessity to be inclusive of
