Media evaluation q4
1. Q4 -Who Would Be the Audience for Your Media
Product?
Our target audience for our film is going to be 15 – 35 year olds, possibly
stretching further to 40 years old and possibly above. While the film
would be categorised a “15” certificate in cinemas, there may be many
avid psychological thriller fans who grew up with this type of film and
would be keen to see a film of this genre. This age group is also often one
that is not short of money, most people having jobs by this point or
receiving regular income. As well as this, our film was made and
produced by teenagers above the 15 year mark, all the actors within the
film aged at roughly 17 years old, possibly encouraging other teenagers
to go and see the film, whilst still being appealing to the older audiences
as the characters do not play the roles of children, but of adults. Those
above 40 years old would be less likely to watch our film as it is very
different to how films used to be made and such a story line may not
appeal to an older audience. The film contains violence and strong
language, making it inappropriate for any persons under the age of 15,
hence our decision to make this a “15” film.
It
is
very unlikely that people above the
age of 60 will come to watch our film as the majority of older people do
not have an interest in horror or thriller films, or things that are more
dramatic and violent. I believe that when it comes to gender, our film will
be more likely to attract males than females as males typically seem to
have more interest in violent or action-filled films as opposed to girls,
who stereotypically are more likely to watch comedy or romance type
films.
2. In a poll taken on Facebook, I discovered that when asked the question
“Which genre of films do you enjoy?” 70% of the votes for Thriller were
cast by males, whilst 80% of votes for RomCom were cast by females.
