2. Camera
Throughout the music video, there are a use of
close ups, medium shots, and two shots to
show the character’s facial expressions to
show that they are upset and actions that they
are performing such as the dancing which
shows she feels more free and alive after the
breakup.
3. Editing
Tracking shots and match on action is used
when the camera is going down the hall
and when she runs onto the stage, she
runs towards the opposite way. Not a lot of
editing is used which makes the video
seem very natural and realistic and not
staged at all.
4. Mise En Scene
The lighting in the video is mainly dark and dull
which creates a depressing atmosphere. This is
appropriate as the song is sad and shows us how
the characters are feeling.
The acting shows us how upset they are as they
look very down however towards the end it
lightens up and becomes more lively when she is
on stage and this picks up the mood of the video.
The little makeup and plain clothes used adds a
very normal, realistic effect to the video which
shows it is more real life rather than loads of
makeup and flashy clothes.
5. Representation
The representation of this video shows
that no pain lasts forever and that the
upset and hurt you may feel from a
breakup will not last and you will
eventually feel better. The female’s
acting makes us think she is going mad
and insane but soon finds happiness
which is supposed to show us that she
eventually got over it.
