1. Motifs used within the music
video.
(Common music motifs used in the
video are…)
2. Shots of light, sun or fire.
This motif is using natural
sunlight as an effect, using
a low angle shot and the
sunlight pouring through
from above shows and
gives out a certain emotion
to the audience. By using a
low angle shot shows
happiness where as further
on in the video when a
high angle shot is used this
represents sadness and
loneliness. To the left it
shows Taylor leaning
against a tree with natural
lighting being used.
3. Fragmentation of the body.
Fragmentation of the body is a
technique used when making a
music video. This technique
focuses on a certain part of the
body usually being a close up, by
using this it helps to make the
audience focus on a particular
part in this case the playing of the
guitar. Fragmentation was used
throughout the music video to
show broken shots of the
body, the screenshot to the left is
a good example of how it has
worked.
4. Use of impossible scenes
Use of impossible scenes is used
throughout the video, in this case we
have used the effect to show Taylor
disappearing from the swings, this is
used to add emphasis that he feels as
if he's nothing and slowly
disappearing from life itself.
5. Intertextuality
Intertextuality is the idea of art
recognizes itself of art. By me
looking in the camera we are
acknowledging that this is a
music video and directly
addressing the audience by
doing so. This therefore is
Intertextuality as art is
recognizing itself as art.
