Manu Ginobili
Manu Ginóbili
Emanuel David "Manu" Ginóbili (born 28 July 1977) is a 6 foot–6 inch left–handed Argentinean
professional basketball player. Coming from a family of professional basketball players, he is a
member of the Argentine men's national basketball team and the NBA.
Ginóbili spent the early part of his basketball career in Argentina and Italy, where he won several
individual and team honors. His stint with Italian side Kinder Bologna was particularly productive,
earning two Italian League MVP awards, the Euro league Finals MVP and the 2001 Euro league and
Triple Crown championships. The shooting guard was selected as the 57th overall pick in the 1999
NBA Draft and is considered one of the biggest draft steals of all time. Ginóbili ... Show more

He helped guide them past the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals and then the New
Jersey Nets in the Finals, securing San Antonio's second championship. After the win, Ginóbili won
his first Olimpia de Oro ("Golden Olympia") as Argentina's sportsperson of the year, and even met
Argentine president Néstor Kirchner. A gym in Bahía Blanca was dedicated in Ginóbili's honor as
well.
In the 2003–04 season, Ginóbili began featuring more regularly for the Spurs, starting in half of the
77 regular season games he played in. His statistics improved in all major categories, as he averaged
12.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game. During the 2004 playoffs, the Spurs
met their perennial rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers, in the Western Conference Semifinals. Following
Game 5 where Derek Fisher scored a buzzer–beating jumpshot, the Spurs lost Game 6 and the series
4–2. While Ginóbili did not start in a single playoff game as he did in 2003, his playoff statistics
improved significantly, with 13.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.
After some initial issues with San Antonio over his contract, Ginóbili re–signed with the Spurs and
started every game during the 2004–05 season. This was his best season yet as he was selected as a
reserve by NBA coaches to the 2005 Western Conference

The Importance Of Hard Work In The Game Of Basketball
Kobe Bryant called up his trainer at 4:15 a.m. asking him to come to the gym. They worked out for
75 minutes and had 11 a.m. scrimmage that day (Manfred 2013). Kobe has the best work ethic in the
game of basketball. The first time I watched Kobe was 2008 and since then I started playing the
game of basketball. I loved and lived for the competitiveness and the feeling of winning a game and
it wanted me to work harder to get better every day. Kobe Bryant and the game of basketball had
leaded me to the belief that hard work will always lead to success regardless of any circumstances.
Kobe was the hardest worker in the NBA, and now he is the greatest of all time. I believe that
people who work hard and are determined the whole way will always be successful in life no matter
what the circumstances are.
Did you know Michael Jordan didn't make the high school team when he was a sophomore? Now he
is known as one of the greatest players in the game. After MJ got cut from the team, he just started
working because he knew he could improve in some way. People who work hard will be able to
make them better at any area they want to improve on. I remember when one of my favorite coaches
told me, "you will never be good, you will just be better"– Julio Agosto. What he told me really
made me follow more into my belief of working hard because it had me thinking about people who
pretty much already made it. For example, LeBron James is the greatest NBA player in the league.
But, LeBron still

What Are The Most Dominating Players In The NBA
There has only been one team who has dominated the NBA for more than two decades. It's not the
Golden State Warriors... not the Cleveland Cavaliers... or even the Boston Celtics. Nope! It's the San
Antonio Spurs. They are known for being every grandpa's favorite basketball team because they
play basketball the "right" way. The Spurs do not care about the flashy passes or windmill dunks
that drives every fan crazy. Instead, they have one basic goal in mind: win NBA championships.
Today, however, the Spurs are facing an uncanny situation. Their best player, Kawhi Leonard, is
refusing to return to the team following his injury last playoffs. One of the most dominating players
in the NBA is declining to play for the team that gave him his first championship.

Personal Reflection
Throughout my rigorous academic career, I have written numerous pieces of literature from research
papers, poems, academic essays, and even tweets. In my rhetorical analysis, I will be analyzing a
college essay in which I submitted to Bowling Green, Xavier, Toledo, and Ohio University. The
reason I selected this piece to analyze is because this essay played a crucial role in determining
where I would go to college, and it also describes me as a person, and my love for the city of
Cleveland. Before I go into the analysis of the paper itself, I would like to present a background of
who I was when I wrote this college essay. It was September of 2016, and I was just beginning to fill
out college applications, and I was very stressed out. Initially I could not think of an essay topic that
could show colleges my worth. A culmination of stress, high school, and excitement of being a
senior were all things going on in my life at that time. My first essay attempt did not cut it, and it
was not me. I began to panic, and I went to my ACT tutor and began to ask him for help. This was
fantastic because he told me to think outside of the box, but yet somehow connect it to yourself. So,
I decided to write my paper about how the city of Cleveland is me. Throughout this paper I will
describe and analyze just how I did that. With my college essay, I wanted to be unique and think
outside the box, and break the norm of typical college essays. I figured that most people who read

Marcell Dareus 'Paid Athletes' Pay For Play
PAY FOR PLAY The issue of pay for play has gone back for decades not just on the collegiate level
but on the professional level. Athletes, over the years, have verbally attacked the unfairness of the
NCAA or professional owners unfairly profiting of the sweat of the athletes backs. I believe paying
athletes a modest amount would lessen the temptation to break NCAA rules by taking cash from
boosters, agents and anyone else willing to give it. For example, is the case of Cam Newton's,
former Auburn quarterback. Reports were released stating that former Mississippi State assistants
and a booster had contacted Newton's father, Cecil Newton, about payments for his signature with
the Bulldogs. In another SEC scandal, Marcell Dareus was ruled ineligible ... Show more content on

Kobe Bryant : The Greatest Basketball Players Ever
Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest basketball players ever. There's no denying that. He has five
world championships, an MVP award, two scoring titles, 18 All Star appearances, is third all–time in
points scored...you get the point.
Ever since Bryant announced he would retire at the end of this season, in a poem published in The
Players Tribune, he's had a farewell tour the likes of which only Derek Jeter could top. Every
opposing team regales him with presents. Fans who for years hated him are now lovingly cheering
him on. The media can't get enough of him, and he, in turn, is soaking it all up.
Which is fine. Who am I to say what Kobe deserves? My only point is that, lost in the hoopla
surrounding Kobe's farewell tour, two equally deserving players that haven't announced their
retirement but seem destined to do so after year's end are being brusquely overlooked.
Way I see it, there are three main reasons Kobe is getting so much attention while Kevin Garnett and
Tim Duncan, two exceptional NBA players so close to retirement themselves, are not:
Kobe announced his retirement ahead of time (a trend on the rise that seems a tad–bit selfish,
although exceptionally fun for fans)
He plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, which means that he'll always get more of a spotlight than
Duncan or KG, who are playing out their final seasons in San Antonio and Minnesota, respectively
He's Kobe. He's an iconic juggernaut that once scored 81 points in a game.

The Trick To The Trade Case Study
The Trick to the Trade: Why Kyle Korver Might Be the Key
The first major trade of the NBA season took place last week, when the Cleveland Cavaliers traded
for shooting guard Kyle Korver. The Cavs sent the Atlanta Hawks Mo Williams, Mike Dunleavy,
and a protected 2019 first round pick in exchange for the sharp shooter's service. While Korver, who
will turn 36 in March, isn't the same player that he was in his hay–day, the man can still knock down
an open jump shot. That alone, might be the key for the Cavaliers to repeat as champions.
The "Jirving" Effect
Don't call the Cavs a "jump shooting" team. Yes, they are amongst the best in the league in three
pointers attempted, made, and percentage. Yes, they have two ball handlers that create three ... Show

In his prime, it wouldn't have mattered whether or not a hand was in his face or not, unless you
blocked the shot, it was probably going in. But now that Korver is in his final stages of his career, he
will greatly benefit from getting more wide open looks.
Filling in a Role and a Need
The Cavaliers are thin at the guard spot to say the least. As I wrote last time, the Cavs still need to
find a quality backup point guard to spell Irving when he needs a rest. Now that the Korver trade has
gone through, I expect another deal to be made before the trade deadline to get that point guard.
Besides that, the second biggest need that the Cavs needed was help at the two–guard.
Now I know I just explained that the Cavs are shooting the lights out of the building, and that two–
guard Iman Shumpert was having a career year beyond the arc. However, with J.R. Smith out for the
remainder of the regular season with a broken thumb, a lot of the two–guard duties are being
handled by youngsters DeAndre Liggins and Jordan

Bhopal Gas Disaster
Executive Summary On December 3, 1984, toxic poisonous methyl isocyanate gas leaked from
Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL 's) pesticide plant in Bhopal. The gas leak triggered a disaster
that is now widely recognized as the world worst industrial catastrophe. Thousands of people were
killed instantly and more than 25,000 people have died of gas–related illnesses, several thousands
more maimed for life since. Union Carbide negotiated a settlement with the Indian Government in
1989 for $470 million – a total of only $370 to $533 per victim – a sum too small to pay for most
medical bills. In 1996, t elve years after the disaster, Union Carbide became part of the Dow

However, few denizens had not only fraudulently got the names of their kin included in the
compensation list, they also managed to obtain the compensation more than once for the same
individual. Amazingly, the compensation was allegedly sanctioned by the same deputy
commissioner twice without noticing the irregularity. A woman Naznee Siddiqui allegedly got the
name of her daughter Faiza Siddiqui included in the beneficiaries ' list despite the girl being born
three years after the gas tragedy. The alleged fraud did not end here, as the woman claimed the
compensation twice in the name of her daughter. Interestingly, the woman in an affidavit claimed
that her daughter was present at the time of gas leakage but the mark sheet of the girl stated her date
of birth as September 30, 1987. Both the claims were sanctioned in 1999 by the same deputy
commissioner, RK Bhave, wherein the girl was made eligible for compensation of Rs 25,000 each.
The claim numbers of the girl were 138071 and 139067. Apart from the girl, the mother and her son
also obtained compensation of Rs 70,000 and Rs 25,000 in the year 1994 and 1999, respectively.
The claims clearly contained the name of the girl, her parents ' name, residence and age. Despite
this, they were sanctioned twice in four months. The girl was also directed to remain present in the
claims court on March 18 and July 19, 1999, to receive compensation as per the claimed letters.

Sidney Crosby the Next Great One
Sidney Crosby the Next Great One Sidney is Crosby is a phenomenal hockey player currently
playing in the NHL. Many people debate on him being the next Great One, due to multiple aspects
of his talent. Sidney
Crosby, being the talented player he is, many people compare him to Wayne Gretzky who is the best
known hockey player in history. Since hockey has evolved from when Wayne Gretzky was on top, it
makes it difficult to compare him to Sidney Crosby. But, since the evolution of hockey has occurred,
this means that Sidney Crosby is better overall, speed wise, acceleration, agility, and endurance.
Since Crosby has entered the NHL in the 2005–06 Season, he has managed to score 266 goals, 477
assists, for a combined total of 743 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which further excelled Crosby, and helped him attain one of the greatest achievements in hockey,
being drafted 1st overall in the
2005 NHL Entry Draft (Shattuk–Saint Mary's NHL Draft Picks). With Crosby becoming the greatest
hockey player in the world, he has been able to achieve many prestigious awards. Including the
greatest award one is able to attain in hockey,
Lord Stanley's Cup, in the 2008–09 Season. Crosby was then the youngest captain to ever win the
Stanley Cup in NHL history. Other great achievement's Crosby has attained is the Art Ross trophy,
which is awarded to the player with the most scoring points in a season. Another award he won that
same season, in the 2006–07 season, was the Hart Trophy (Fitzpatrick). The final and most likely
greatest achievement Crosby has made, is being the second youngest captain in NHL history. He did
hold the reign of youngest Captain for 6 years until, Gabriel Landeskog was named captain for the
Colorado Avalanche. Landeskog was only 11 days younger than Crosby when named, but he still
took the title of youngest captain in NHL history (Sadowski). These achievements have supported
reasons why Crosby is better than Gretzky. With all the evidence supporting Crosby's case proves
that Crosby is overall a better and a stronger player than Gretzky. Since this is accurate and
supported through evidence, Crosby can now be referred to the Great One. Since Crosby is still
young he is

Professional Hockey Players
In the world of professional sports, teams value youth, searching for the next super star. Whether it
is inking the highly coveted free agent, or rebuilding through drafts, General Managers have put a
premium on young athletes, hoping that these youngsters will become the face of the franchise.
Age and experience has seem to taken a back seat for teams. While it is important to develop young
prospects, veteran leadership is often hard to find during games, in the locker room, and particularly
during the playoffs. There are four current players in the National Hockey League who are still
excelling well into their 40's, contributing on a nightly basis. They are Martin Brodeur, Teemu
Selanne, Jaromir Jagr, and Daniel Alfredsson.
Daniel Alfredsoon, the longtime captain of the Ottawa Senators, now plays for the Detroit Red
Wings. Alfredsson is 41 years old and is currently second on the team this season in goals, having lit
the lamp 17 times. With injuries to stars Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg, Alfredsson has been
able to step up and provide the scoring that Detroit desperately sought when its two stars went down
with injuries. He also has 26 assists on the season and is helping the Red Wings make a late season
push for the playoffs.
Alfredsson participated in his 5th Olympic games this February as a member of Sweden's team. He
had four points in five games, registering two goals and two assists to help his country earn a silver
medal after falling to Canada.

Essay on ESPN: The World Wide Leader in Sports
Mass Communication Process
The World Wide Leader in Sports In the years prior to 1979, the way people in the United States
obtained information about sports was through either the daily newspaper, segments on the news, or
just being at the game. However though on September 7th, 1979 all of that would forever change as
a new TV channel would debut. Entertainment and Sports Programing Network, ESPN, would
become the first TV channel dedicated as an all sports channel. They dubbed it as "If you love
sports...if you really love sports, you'll think you've died and gone to sports heaven." Since its initial
launch ESPN has grown to become one of the most successful TV channels/companies out there.

In the days after the event ESPN had gotten a lot of flak because of how they went about it
(Olhmeyer, "The 'Decision' Dilemma"). Many people amongst the journalism and sports industry
had said that they tarnished their credibility (Olhmeyer, "The 'Decision' Dilemma"). Despite all of
the negative feedback ESPN was smart in broadcasting it. The Decision helped to assist in ESPNs
brand identity being that aside from live NBA games, you will be able to get breaking news around
the league or any major announcement hence the Decision. Reasons like that are why the NBA has
been very successful for ESPN in achieving brand identity. It's like if you want to watch a marquee
basketball game then you will tune into ESPN because you know you are getting a strong product
with a great result. ESPNs brand identity of the NBA can be linked as being similar to ESPNs
coverage of the NHL from 1992–2004. While you can make the same case with ESPN having a
similar type of brand identity with the NFL from events like the Draft and Monday Night Football
games, the same cannot be said for other sports. One sport that has very little brand identity with
ESPN is the NHL. One reason why ESPN has very little brand identity with hockey is because of
not having any contractual agreements with the NHL. ESPN at one point did have a contract with
the NHL from 1992–2004. Those rights helped to create a strong brand identity with programs such

The former 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo said Jones was like a heroin addict, saying that Jones'

you grow the league. People say I'm a maverick and not a team player, but I believe in revenue–

NFL's official soft drink sponsor. But 10 days later, New England Patriot owner Robert Kraft, who

league. Jones also signed Deion Sanders last year to a $35 million contract with Dallas. Around the
league there was grumbling that Jones was abusing the salary cap of the NFL. Of course the San

Phil Jackson Legacy Essay
Legacy There is absolutely no doubt that Phil Jackson's lasting impact to the sport of basketball will
remain throughout history. He has led a few of the teams that are usually mentioned in the list of the
best teams of all time, and arguably the best among them all, the 1995–1996 Chicago Bulls. This
team set a regular season record of 72 wins that has never been broken and only four teams have
since come close with 67 or more wins. Those teams were the 96–97 Bulls with 69 wins, the 99–00
Los Angeles Lakers with 67 wins, both of which were also coached by Jackson, the 06–07 Dallas
Mavericks with 67 wins, and the 14–15 Golden State Warriors also with 67 wins (NBA Franchise
Win Totals, n.d.). Poised to challenge the 72 win record again this ... Show more content on

That being said, Jackson, who would remain calm on the sideline while his team was having a
meltdown in front of him, was a self proclaimed hot–head that really hated to lose (Jackson, 2013, p.
25). After losing to the Orlando Magic, he got so angry that he "shaved off most of his hair and
stomped around the room," taking more than an hour to finally relax. The image that Nater and
Gallimore portray of John Wooden throughout their book leads me to believe that Wooden would
never behave in this way, even if he was upset by a particularly frustrating

Essay about Wayne Gretzky
Wayne Gretzky Not many people can argue that Wayne Gretzky dominated the game every time he
stepped on the ice. No player is rewarded the name, "The Great One", for no reason, and he has
proven that since his first year in the NHL. Wayne Gretzky is by far, the greatest Canadian hockey
player of all time. He holds the record for the most goals, assists, and overall points for both the
regular season and the playoffs; he has won over 20 trophies throughout his career, and within his ...

He also holds the record for the most assists at a whopping 1,962, and has a total of 61 official
records throughout the regular season, playoffs, and all star games.
All through Gretzky's career he has been winning numerous amounts of trophies awarded to him by
the National Hockey League that millions of people could only wish of possessing. He has won
several different awards many times over, including ten Art Ross trophies, nine Hart trophies, two
Conn Smythe, and five Lady Byng trophies. Each trophy has its own trait, or a quality that must be
possessed by the player in order to win them, and Gretzky has definitely proved himself winning
each one of these over and over again. Two of the NHL's most prized trophies, the Art Ross trophy
for the leagues leading scorer, and the Hart trophy given to the leagues MVP, had been won by
Gretzky an astonishing eight years in a row, starting from just his second year of playing in the
league. Along with these awards, Waynehas been presented with several Lester B. Pearson awards
for Outstanding Player and a Lester Patrick trophy in 1994 for Outstanding Service to Hockey in the
U.S.To top things off, Gretzky has won three MVP awards for the 1983, 89, and 99 NHL All Star
games, giving him a grand total of 35 awards in his 20 years of playing.

Media Day At The Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers had an entire summer to dwell on their crushing loss to the Golden State
Warriors in the 2015 NBA Finals.
"I think last year is last year, and this year is this year," Cavs head coach David Blatt said at the
team's media day on Monday. "We do have high expectations. Our goals are clear and are stated, but
not guaranteed.
"It's important for all of us to not overstate, but to overachieve."
Blatt admitted he borrowed that last quote from Cavs general manager David Griffin, who never
fails to reiterate the organization's ultimate goal – Bring a championship to the title–starved city of
Cleveland.
The elephant in the room can't go unnoticed. The Cavs haven't won an NBA title since the franchise
came into existence, and the last time any professional team from Cleveland captured a
championship was more than 50 years ago. Media day 2015 was simply the first event of what
should be an undeniably eventful 2015–16 Cavs season. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To be fair, the Cavs may never have another media day as wild as the 2014 version. LeBron James
had recently announced his return to Cleveland and Kevin Love was traded to Cleveland a little
more than a month later, forming the NBA's most recent 'Big 3' with dynamic point guard Kyrie
Irving. Although Irving and Love continue to recover from injuries that forced their exits in the 2015
playoffs, the Cavs should be one of the favorites to win it all when both players reach optimal

Connor Mcdavid Character Analysis
It's been said that Connor McDavid was the second coming of Sidney Crosby – and then it was said
that Auston Matthews was the second coming of McDavid. So it has been every year with the first
overall pick, and so it goes.
We are incredibly lucky to get to watch the world's best players take the ice at once, but when you
get into comparisons like that, it's hard to appreciate them for what they are. Brilliant playmaking, a
high hockey IQ, leadership skills, and an uncanny natural talent with the puck characterize all of
these forwards, and then some. On the other hand, every player's path to the NHL and the trials and
tribulations they face once there, shape their careers and playing styles uniquely.
I'll admit it now; I'm a Pittsburgh Penguins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It's like Deja vu: years of underperforming leads to a phenomenal first–overall pick, who is quickly
named captain and begins an upward trajectory for his team. No one needs to tell us how great it
feels to watch that unfold, either.
(I'm done bragging, I promise.)
McDavid, unsurprisingly, has been a huge factor on the score sheet as well. He has 19 points in 16
games played this season, and is a +5. When the Oilers took the ice in Pittsburgh, McDavid assisted
on all three of their goals. The Penguins ended up winning 4–3 in a contentious, evenly matched
game.
The Leafs' visit to Pittsburgh was far less leveled, in that the Penguins took a decisive 4–1 victory
after putting 49 shots on goal. Crosby picked up a goal and an assist in that time, while Zach
Hyman, of all people, was the only one to score for the Leafs. Does that mean Matthews is in a
slump?
Spoiler alert: Not at all. He's played fifteen games and it was physically impossible for anyone to
keep up the torrid scoring pace he started out with. He's nineteen. He also has a weaker supporting
cast than both McDavid and Crosby do.
Plus, he's still got 12 points – six goals and six assists – and is tied for the Leafs' point lead with
Mitch Marner and William Nylander, both of whom are also having ridiculous rookie seasons so

Manu Ginobili

  • 1. Manu Ginobili Manu Ginóbili Emanuel David "Manu" Ginóbili (born 28 July 1977) is a 6 foot–6 inch left–handed Argentinean professional basketball player. Coming from a family of professional basketball players, he is a member of the Argentine men's national basketball team and the NBA. Ginóbili spent the early part of his basketball career in Argentina and Italy, where he won several individual and team honors. His stint with Italian side Kinder Bologna was particularly productive, earning two Italian League MVP awards, the Euro league Finals MVP and the 2001 Euro league and Triple Crown championships. The shooting guard was selected as the 57th overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft and is considered one of the biggest draft steals of all time. Ginóbili ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He helped guide them past the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals and then the New Jersey Nets in the Finals, securing San Antonio's second championship. After the win, Ginóbili won his first Olimpia de Oro ("Golden Olympia") as Argentina's sportsperson of the year, and even met Argentine president Néstor Kirchner. A gym in Bahía Blanca was dedicated in Ginóbili's honor as well. In the 2003–04 season, Ginóbili began featuring more regularly for the Spurs, starting in half of the 77 regular season games he played in. His statistics improved in all major categories, as he averaged 12.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game. During the 2004 playoffs, the Spurs met their perennial rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers, in the Western Conference Semifinals. Following Game 5 where Derek Fisher scored a buzzer–beating jumpshot, the Spurs lost Game 6 and the series 4–2. While Ginóbili did not start in a single playoff game as he did in 2003, his playoff statistics improved significantly, with 13.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. After some initial issues with San Antonio over his contract, Ginóbili re–signed with the Spurs and started every game during the 2004–05 season. • 3. The Importance Of Hard Work In The Game Of Basketball Kobe Bryant called up his trainer at 4:15 a.m. asking him to come to the gym. They worked out for 75 minutes and had 11 a.m. scrimmage that day (Manfred 2013). Kobe has the best work ethic in the game of basketball. The first time I watched Kobe was 2008 and since then I started playing the game of basketball. I loved and lived for the competitiveness and the feeling of winning a game and it wanted me to work harder to get better every day. Kobe Bryant and the game of basketball had leaded me to the belief that hard work will always lead to success regardless of any circumstances. Kobe was the hardest worker in the NBA, and now he is the greatest of all time. I believe that people who work hard and are determined the whole way will always be successful in life no matter what the circumstances are. Did you know Michael Jordan didn't make the high school team when he was a sophomore? Now he is known as one of the greatest players in the game. After MJ got cut from the team, he just started working because he knew he could improve in some way. People who work hard will be able to make them better at any area they want to improve on. I remember when one of my favorite coaches told me, "you will never be good, you will just be better"– Julio Agosto. • 5. What Are The Most Dominating Players In The NBA There has only been one team who has dominated the NBA for more than two decades. It's not the Golden State Warriors... not the Cleveland Cavaliers... or even the Boston Celtics. Nope! It's the San Antonio Spurs. They are known for being every grandpa's favorite basketball team because they play basketball the "right" way. The Spurs do not care about the flashy passes or windmill dunks that drives every fan crazy. Instead, they have one basic goal in mind: win NBA championships. Today, however, the Spurs are facing an uncanny situation. Their best player, Kawhi Leonard, is refusing to return to the team following his injury last playoffs. One of the most dominating players in the NBA is declining to play for the team that gave him his first championship. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Personal Reflection Throughout my rigorous academic career, I have written numerous pieces of literature from research papers, poems, academic essays, and even tweets. In my rhetorical analysis, I will be analyzing a college essay in which I submitted to Bowling Green, Xavier, Toledo, and Ohio University. The reason I selected this piece to analyze is because this essay played a crucial role in determining where I would go to college, and it also describes me as a person, and my love for the city of Cleveland. Before I go into the analysis of the paper itself, I would like to present a background of who I was when I wrote this college essay. It was September of 2016, and I was just beginning to fill out college applications, and I was very stressed out. Initially I could not think of an essay topic that could show colleges my worth. A culmination of stress, high school, and excitement of being a senior were all things going on in my life at that time. My first essay attempt did not cut it, and it was not me. I began to panic, and I went to my ACT tutor and began to ask him for help. This was fantastic because he told me to think outside of the box, but yet somehow connect it to yourself. So, I decided to write my paper about how the city of Cleveland is me. Throughout this paper I will describe and analyze just how I did that. With my college essay, I wanted to be unique and think outside the box, and break the norm of typical college essays. I figured that most people who read the college ... Athletes, over the years, have verbally attacked the unfairness of the NCAA or professional owners unfairly profiting of the sweat of the athletes backs. I believe paying athletes a modest amount would lessen the temptation to break NCAA rules by taking cash from boosters, agents and anyone else willing to give it. • 13. Kobe Bryant : The Greatest Basketball Players Ever Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest basketball players ever. There's no denying that. He has five world championships, an MVP award, two scoring titles, 18 All Star appearances, is third all–time in points scored...you get the point. Ever since Bryant announced he would retire at the end of this season, in a poem published in The Players Tribune, he's had a farewell tour the likes of which only Derek Jeter could top. Every opposing team regales him with presents. Fans who for years hated him are now lovingly cheering him on. The media can't get enough of him, and he, in turn, is soaking it all up. Which is fine. Who am I to say what Kobe deserves? My only point is that, lost in the hoopla surrounding Kobe's farewell tour, two equally deserving players that haven't announced their retirement but seem destined to do so after year's end are being brusquely overlooked. Way I see it, there are three main reasons Kobe is getting so much attention while Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan, two exceptional NBA players so close to retirement themselves, are not: Kobe announced his retirement ahead of time (a trend on the rise that seems a tad–bit selfish, although exceptionally fun for fans) He plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, which means that he'll always get more of a spotlight than Duncan or KG, who are playing out their final seasons in San Antonio and Minnesota, respectively He's Kobe. The Trick To The Trade Case Study The Trick to the Trade: Why Kyle Korver Might Be the Key The first major trade of the NBA season took place last week, when the Cleveland Cavaliers traded for shooting guard Kyle Korver. The Cavs sent the Atlanta Hawks Mo Williams, Mike Dunleavy, and a protected 2019 first round pick in exchange for the sharp shooter's service. While Korver, who will turn 36 in March, isn't the same player that he was in his hay–day, the man can still knock down an open jump shot. That alone, might be the key for the Cavaliers to repeat as champions. The "Jirving" Effect Don't call the Cavs a "jump shooting" team. Filling in a Role and a Need The Cavaliers are thin at the guard spot to say the least. As I wrote last time, the Cavs still need to find a quality backup point guard to spell Irving when he needs a rest. Now that the Korver trade has gone through, I expect another deal to be made before the trade deadline to get that point guard. Besides that, the second biggest need that the Cavs needed was help at the two–guard. Now I know I just explained that the Cavs are shooting the lights out of the building, and that two– guard Iman Shumpert was having a career year beyond the arc. However, with J.R. Despite all of the negative feedback ESPN was smart in broadcasting it. The Decision helped to assist in ESPNs brand identity being that aside from live NBA games, you will be able to get breaking news around the league or any major announcement hence the Decision. Reasons like that are why the NBA has been very successful for ESPN in achieving brand identity. It's like if you want to watch a marquee basketball game then you will tune into ESPN because you know you are getting a strong product with a great result. ESPNs brand identity of the NBA can be linked as being similar to ESPNs coverage of the NHL from 1992–2004. While you can make the same case with ESPN having a similar type of brand identity with the NFL from events like the Draft and Monday Night Football games, the same cannot be said for other sports. One sport that has very little brand identity with ESPN is the NHL. One reason why ESPN has very little brand identity with hockey is because of not having any contractual agreements with the NHL. ESPN at one point did have a contract with the NHL from 1992–2004. Those rights helped to create a strong brand identity with programs such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Media Day At The Cleveland Cavaliers The Cleveland Cavaliers had an entire summer to dwell on their crushing loss to the Golden State Warriors in the 2015 NBA Finals. "I think last year is last year, and this year is this year," Cavs head coach David Blatt said at the team's media day on Monday. "We do have high expectations. Our goals are clear and are stated, but not guaranteed. "It's important for all of us to not overstate, but to overachieve." Blatt admitted he borrowed that last quote from Cavs general manager David Griffin, who never fails to reiterate the organization's ultimate goal – Bring a championship to the title–starved city of Cleveland. The elephant in the room can't go unnoticed. The Cavs haven't won an NBA title since the franchise came into existence, and the last time any professional team from Cleveland captured a championship was more than 50 years ago. Media day 2015 was simply the first event of what should be an undeniably eventful 2015–16 Cavs season. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To be fair, the Cavs may never have another media day as wild as the 2014 version. LeBron James had recently announced his return to Cleveland and Kevin Love was traded to Cleveland a little more than a month later, forming the NBA's most recent 'Big 3' with dynamic point guard Kyrie Irving. Although Irving and Love continue to recover from injuries that forced their exits in the 2015 playoffs, the Cavs should be one of the favorites to win it all when both players reach optimal ... • 43. Connor Mcdavid Character Analysis It's been said that Connor McDavid was the second coming of Sidney Crosby – and then it was said that Auston Matthews was the second coming of McDavid. So it has been every year with the first overall pick, and so it goes. We are incredibly lucky to get to watch the world's best players take the ice at once, but when you get into comparisons like that, it's hard to appreciate them for what they are. Brilliant playmaking, a high hockey IQ, leadership skills, and an uncanny natural talent with the puck characterize all of these forwards, and then some. On the other hand, every player's path to the NHL and the trials and tribulations they face once there, shape their careers and playing styles uniquely. I'll admit it now; I'm a Pittsburgh Penguins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It's like Deja vu: years of underperforming leads to a phenomenal first–overall pick, who is quickly named captain and begins an upward trajectory for his team. No one needs to tell us how great it feels to watch that unfold, either. (I'm done bragging, I promise.) McDavid, unsurprisingly, has been a huge factor on the score sheet as well. He has 19 points in 16 games played this season, and is a +5. When the Oilers took the ice in Pittsburgh, McDavid assisted on all three of their goals. The Penguins ended up winning 4–3 in a contentious, evenly matched game. The Leafs' visit to Pittsburgh was far less leveled, in that the Penguins took a decisive 4–1 victory after putting 49 shots on goal. Crosby picked up a goal and an assist in that time, while Zach Hyman, of all people, was the only one to score for the Leafs. Does that mean Matthews is in a slump? Spoiler alert: Not at all. He's played fifteen games and it was physically impossible for anyone to keep up the torrid scoring pace he started out with. He's nineteen. He also has a weaker supporting cast than both McDavid and Crosby do. Plus, he's still got 12 points – six goals and six assists – and is tied for the Leafs' point lead with Mitch Marner and William Nylander, both of whom are also having ridiculous rookie seasons so ...
