closely tied up with looking after
the mental health; take time for
yourself, you are so important;
realise your worth
 Looking after yourself should be
the greatest priority and not an
occasional treat; invest in
yourself
 Self-care is not selfism; take time for
yourself; do not put yourself last ;
caring for yourself is an act of
survival; do not expect others to
take care of you

24
 There is no workplace in the world more lively and satisfying than
the schools; there are a ton of benefits to working in a school
 The key people in the school are teachers. The Climate of the school
depends upon the Quality of Teachers
 Teachers alone makes the school a better work-place; a working
environment where you are valued and respected
 You can never ever be a leader unless you are an obedient follower
 Valuing and supporting students is a fundamental part of teaching.
Why don’t teachers show the same concern to your colleagues?
Dr. Kamal's Training Module 25
NEGATIVE SCHOOL CLIMATE
1. Micro-management
2. Teacher Politics
3. Individual Gossips
4. No self-imposed norms

 Support and resources may be
scanty
 Sycophants may get promotions
 No scope for professional training
and development

teaching

Dr. Kamal's Training Module 26

the life of students

teachers flourish; if not school will run
on clerical routines
3. Collaboration and cooperation
between teachers contribute to school
improvement and student success
4. Regular interaction among teachers is
important in forming lasting
professional and mentorship
relationships
5. When teachers feel supported, they
can better extend that same support
to their students
6. If school is dominated by a culture of
individualism and competition among
teachers; school becomes stagnant
and arrested
