Survey Results Help Focus Indie Music Magazine Target Audience
1.
2. I made a survey on survey monkey for my research. I wanted to know whether my
magazine would sell and if it does, what type of people would buy it.
I asked 70 people 10 questions, all finding out their personality types and what they’re
interested in. This helped me because then I would know what to include in the magazine
that will entice my audience. I wanted to create an indie/ rock magazine and most of my
results support this idea. I asked questions that could find out what different people were
in to.
3. This is one of the most important
questions for my research. I need to
know what age range to aim for and
as 80%+ were aged between 10-17 I
should mostly base it on this age
group.
4. This question is
important because I
want to know who the
majority of the readers
are and who I'm aiming
to impress. Because its
mostly females I can use
female adds and talk
about girly things.
5. This is the magazine I
want to base mine on,
and the majority of
people like NME which is
good, so I know that
people would be
interested in my style
magazine.
6. This is another way to see what different personalities are like. This also
helps me see what to include in my magazine as extras or articles. The best
response is music which is good if I want to make a music magazine.
7. Because I'm making a music magazine, its important to know
what type of music to base it around and luckily my audience has
chosen the type of music I wanted to base it on anyway.
8. This question is important because know I can see what people actually
want in a magazine instead of just guessing. I can take this information
and advertise these things in my magazine. For example new bands is very
popular so I should use it but something like fashion reviews, I wouldn’t
need to worry about.
9. This question is important because I need to know how much people are
willing to pay for a magazine so I can come up with a reasonable price using
this information given to me by my audience.
10. Up and coming events
Freebies
Various types of genres
Unknown bands
New albums/ songs & prices
Letters from readers
Quizzes
Questions and answers with bands
These were the things my audience want that I didn’t include in my question “what do
you look for in a magazine?” this is helpful because there are extra bits I can add that I
didn't think of.
