Over half of first time undergraduate students fail to obtain a degree within a six year time period. Premature exit of university students has stumped
even the most dedicated analysts. Extensive theories have surfaced in an effort to elucidate student attrition. Vincent Tinto constructed new trains of
thought with his avant–garde study in 2001. Tinto was led to revise his work in 2005 in the midst of criticism competing theorists. These scholars set
the precedent for modern research conducted in the field of student attrition. Upon review of literature, compelling similarities and criticisms are
contrived around the same basic theories.
Primitive information existed before examination under Tinto. In fact, most other subsequent studies reference and base their theories off his perceived
models. Other theorists such as Gary Metz believe that Tinto's work is actually derived from Rites of Passage, by Arnold Gennep. Concentrating on the
anthropological aspect of homosapien rites of passage, Gennep's observations explicate common human behavior exhibited throughout the college
experience. Tinto reflects a specific segment of the book encompassing initiation rites. This segment allegates that "'physiological puberty' and 'social

The data of this paper are coming from a longitudinal study on a group of undergraduate students at four large, research–intensive, elite public
universities in China. Designed and conducted by a team at the University of Hong Kong, the study used a multi–stage, proportionate stratified
sampling method to draw a random sample of college students based on the student enrollment record. All questionnaires were distributed by the
researchers and self–administered by respondents. 2,000 survey questionnaires were distributed in 2013, and the

Universities have thousands of students, so it is surprising to notice how individuals typically do not connect with more than a handful of people. Most
people limit themselves to a group of friends with similar interests or a similar field of study. This comfort zone which students prefer to stay in
throughout their stay in university limits the students and results in negative outcomes. Students reduce themselves to knowing a few people and lessen
their range of connections and knowledge. This results in a student who may not be well–rounded and has an insufficient amount of network of

small cliques with similar interests rather than broadening their friend base. College is a place to grow in both an intellectual and psychological way,

knowledgeable and are better with connecting with other individuals. As a result, when a student graduates college they will not only leave with a

(Order 2101034) College is usually the first time an individual child leaves home and lives on their own, but what are the factors that make an
individual student satisfied with their living situation? In the article titled "Aspects of student housing satisfaction: a quantitative study," the
researchers attempted to define what aspects of student housing influence a person's satisfaction with that particular housing situation. The study
consisted of a quantitative survey of university students which emphasized five aspects of student housing and asked them to rate their importance. In

experiences inspired and energized me. I noted the genuine excitement and camaraderie the Emory students had while their fellow classmates shared
their own individual experiences. It became clear to me that the collaborative atmosphere is not only present but also encouraged at Emory. The new
curriculum's preparation for residency, including finishing all of the core rotations before applying for residency in addition to the month long
capstone, is more thorough than most and ideally designed to help me make a more informed decision regarding my match preference. The discovery

The Harrisburg University provides residence life services with HU partnered housing. All new, first–time students are encouraged to live on–campus
at Residences on Market or Market View Place.
2. Body
2.1 History of Housing opened
The university opened the housing facilities for the students first time in its 10–year history for the students for the 2011–12 academic year. The
building location was across the Market Street from the academic tower. "University spokesman Steve Infanti said the school expects to house up to
100 of its 822 full– and part–time students in the building, which the school is operating under lease from city developer Dan Deitchman.

Renovations are under way at the former Governor Hotel building at the southwest corner of Market and Fourth streets. But Infanti said each finished
unit will have standard school–provided furnishings, carpeting and window blinds, as well as Wi–Fi internet service. There also will be shared laundry
and common areas, though residents will be on their own for meals, which Infanti said in itself should provide a jolt worth several hundred thousand
dollars annually to the downtown economy" (C.T., 2017).
2.2Current Status of Student Housing
Currently, the school provides accommodation at two places at Harrisburg. First, Residences on market place and second Market view place.

Students At The University Of Alabama
The number of students attending the University of Alabama has reached a new high of 37,100. That number is a 2.4% increase from 2014
(uanews.ua.edu). As the number of students is predicted only to increase in the years to come, the University must reflect on the housing options for
these 37,100 students. Freshman students required to live on campus face a difficult situation––lack of housing. With that being said, the best and most
efficient way to cope with the ever growing population is to allow freshmen to live off campus, and build more apartments around campus to allow
thousands of more students to have places to live in the future. Providing housing on campus for nearly 8,000 freshman students is nearly impossible.
The Presidential Villages house 1,840 students. Blout, Bryant, Bryce Lawn, Burke, Friedman, The Highlands, Lakeside, Parham, Paty, Ridgecrest,
Riverside, Somerville, and Tutwiler house roughly 5,000 more students. These freshman options barely fit the ever growing number of new students
coming to Alabama. The University of Alabama board of trustees recently approved a $124 million dollar project to tear down and rebuild Julia Tutwiler
Dorms. The dorm currently houses 1,000 freshman girls. The Tutwiler Dorms are due to be torn down at the end of the 2017 Spring Semester. The
new building is scheduled to be finished in 2020. The new building will include a parking deck and be able to house almost 2,000 women. The board
also approved of new dorms to be built

As an increasing number of non–native English–speaking post–secondary students enroll in United States post–secondary institutions, research shows
that faculty are not well–prepared to address their academic writing errors. Based upon the background of the problem, non–TESOL trained native
post–secondary faculty lack both the knowledge and the sense of agency regarding assessment and treatment of their non–native English–speaking
students' academic writing errors. As such, non–TESOL trained faculty may not even address errors when assessing typical NNES student academic
writing, potentially stunting the NNES students' academic writing progression (Haswell, 1998; Janopoulos, 1992; Jenkins, Jordan, & Weiland,
1993). These faculty members may also overlook or have an inconsistent view of NNES plagiarism consequences, or even viewed as a
developmental stage in NNES writing or that NNES writers have not been 'normed' to the academic standards of the United States (Park, 2003; Keck,

80% of students who want to attend college or university cannot on their own funds (CNBC, 2013). Students have to rely on government or private
loans and other resources to get them started in college. Students who live in the community of state colleges may want to attend but do not know how

With diversity being such a touchy subject, when teaching my students I would have to be careful to not exclude, but include each and every
student into the class. Making sure that all of my students feel accepted, I will try my hardest to understand their views. In order to have a

Secondly, for student athletes who practice a sport and attend classes, it is often difficult to complete both tasks. Many students begin to show less
motivation making it harder to stay focus and attend their required classes. This is the case of student– athlete Cardale Jones, a quarterback for the
University of Ohio. After taking his sociology final exam, he commented that coming to class was pointless when his only responsibility was to play
football for the university (Tracy 1). Student athletes start to show poor academic achievement when they consume a lot of time in their sports and
often forget about their role of being a student. For instance, when students are not able to complete their school assignments during the day they
decide to study late and do not sleep the necessary hours they need in order for their bodies to function and their brains to focus. In this case, the poor
achievement in students is notable because they do not perform well in school and do not have a good nutrition. They often do not have time to eat the

Students often do not take advantage of the opportunities available to them in the wider community because of a wide variety of engagement and
extra–curricular opportunities offered on college campuses.
