through this historic mobilization Puerto Ricans have gained entitlement to more power, equality,
representation, consciousness from other ethnic groups, and to some degree, social change. I focus
on the Puerto Ricans' migration to Connecticut, their development of ethnic awareness and power
awareness, their realization of common interests, their competing ethnic projects, and the brokered
representation they have endured as detailed in Jose Cruz's book, Identity and Power: Puerto Rican

opinion on the acceptance of Deaf people in the world. He understood through first hand experience

of Thomas Gallaudet Sign Language was brought to the US and together the pair helped improve
the lives of Deaf people living in the United States. Laurent Clerc was a deaf man from France born
on December 26th 1785. He was not born Deaf however; he became Deaf around the age of 1 after
falling into a fireplace. This incident left Laurent with a scar on his face. The scar eventually became

he didn't attend school until the age of 12 when he was enrolled into the Institut National des Jeune

Hartford, CT is a well–known city that has developed into a concentric zone fashion. A concentric
zone consists of five zones; Central Business District, Transitional Zone, Working Class Zone,

found in Hartford. Hartford is very similar to Chicago based on the description of Chicago given by

families near the village of Grichivich in the former Soviet Union (Belarus today) and who Israel

Another student gave a presentation about the bravery of The White Rose resistance movement led
by German college students and siblings, Hans and Sophie Scholl, who openly protested Nazism in

Thomas Gallaudet Research Paper
In 1817, a man named Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet, was a graduate from Yale University and lived in
Hartford Conneticut. He met Alice, the daughter of his neighbor, Mason Cogswell, a well known
doctor of the area. He found out that Alice was deaf and decided to teach her on how to read and
write some basic things. He did really good in helping her and was encouraged by Cogswell to
establish a school made for deaf people to learn on how to communicate. With enough help and
funds, Cogswell and some others were able to send Gallaudet out to Great Britain where there he
can the ways of deaf communication. When he got there he first was going to learn about an "oral

1 Most universities believe students should be expelled immediately due to the acts of plagiarism.
But is it really safe to jump to such an extreme conclusion for an action that in most cases, require
some sort of investigation or trial? For many years, universities have battled students on this
particular subject. Plagiarism has levels that should be dealt with by first locating the cause,
examining the evidence, and determining whether it was purposely planned or not. Students, just

violence because of an immediate expulsion due to plagiarism. Matthew Coster, a student at Central
Connecticut State University was expelled for plagiarism, but claims he was wrongly accused, and
that another classmate, Cristina Duquette really copied his work. Coster's family sued Duquette for
