9. DISTRIBUTION
Now you enter the distribution phase. This is usually done through distribution
companies. These companies help you through film festivals, DVD sales or anything
you want to put your film on. The main role of a distributer is to get as many people
to view the film as possible, so its good for a film to have more the one distributer to
achieve its maximum reach. Distributers look for new films and seek new medias to
push out to its audience
11. PARAMOUNT
Paramount distribute many genres of film. One series they distribute is ‘Paranormal
Activity’. This ties in with the genre of my film (horror/thriller). My film is low budget
however, and as Paramount regularly do only one-country releases, my film could be
only distributed in the UK. Unfortunately though, Paramount don’t really release
independent horror/thriller films and so I believe they would not be interested in the
distribution of my film.
13. FILM 4
Film 4 heavily distribute to the UK which is great for my low-budget film. In addition,
Film 4 distribute many different genres; some including thrillers and horrors. As well
as distributing to the UK, they sometimes distribute films worldwide such as The
Inbetweeners 2. Film 4 would want to distribute my film because its similar to what
they’ve distributed before with the thriller and scary conventions but has a different
narrative.
14. BEING DISTRIBUTED BY FILM?
Film 4 are very reputable in the film industry as they have distributed many successful
films. This is important for me as I want my film to be distributed by a well-known,
reputable distributer so that it has a good impression on audiences when they see it is
distributed by Film 4. Film 4 have distributed films like ‘The Inbetweeners’ which has
the exact target audience, of 15-24 year old males, as my film. This means that Film 4
are comfortable about distributing films aimed at this demographic. However, my film
is a risk for Film 4 as it is low-budget meaning that it will be difficult to raise
awareness of the film and to gain a profit. However, if Film 4 enjoyed and were
confident in the film, then this wouldn’t be an issue.
15. ADVERTISEMENT OF MY FILM
My film could be advertised in many different ways, such as on the side of buses or on
billboards. Here are some examples of different ways my film could be physically
advertised:

19. ONLINE ADVERTISEMENT
The internet is a very big part of our lives; nearly everything we do involves it
somehow… this includes film advertising. A good example of online advertisement is
with YouTube. On YouTube, advertisers can promote on videos that only people with
certain interests would watch. My film, Missed Call, could do this too. In addition, if
the film was put onto Netflix, it could be shown in the ‘recommended’ list drawing
more attention to people who may be interested in it.

22. DISTRIBUTION OPTIONS
Video streaming is one of the most popular features on the modern web – many
distributers are taking advantage of this fact. Instead of going out and buying a DVD,
most people would prefer to buy/watch the film online. This means that my film
would probably be successful on internet streaming sites such as Netflix or Amazon
Video. In addition, YouTube is one of the biggest websites on the internet. If, perhaps,
a trailer were to become viral, it is great advertising for the film. With an aim to get
the most amount of people as possible to see the film, my film could be distributed to
cinemas and film festivals.
