Creating a 30-second Nike AirMax advert for younger audiences
1. For this unit, we were hired by Zip Associates to create a advert for younger market that is
around our age range. During this process have had to originate, develop and produce a TV
advert for an appropriate product . Our advert had to be 30 seconds long.
I found the research of different kinds of AirMax advert's quite useful as it helped me have
knowledge of what Nike likes to show off about their shoes and what key features they like to
point out. If Nike are advertising AirMax, they always like to show of the airbag of the shoes
and how light it is.
Using this knowledge, i also showed how light the AirMax's are by using my actor to jump
about without breaking a sweat.
But I would of liked to research more video’s so I had better knowledge of their other key features
and look more in-depth in Nike’s advertisements.
My initial idea’s helped me stick to one pair of shoes instead of changing my mind and base my
advertisement on a different pair of shoes as I change my mind very easily. Also it helped me think
further ahead of what backing music I would use so the video would sync with the song and make
everything fit it. From the scale of 1-10, I would rate my final idea a 7 as I improvised a few shots as i
thought my initial idea wasn’t the best.
I thought my pre production was quite in-depth of what I originally wanted to happen in my advert.
But when it came to filming, some of the shots didn’t work out and the storyline was too long to be
done in 30 seconds so I improvised a few shots so my advert would give a clearer message than my
initial idea.
My Production didn’t match my pre- production as I thought my pre production didn’t give a clear
message to what I wanted to give to my audience.
I think my strengths of editing the advert was actually filming its self as I had a clear idea of what
kind of shots I would use as I spent 3 days filming a music video for a different assignment so that
made it a lot easier for me to produce this advert. Also editing on Adobe Premier Pro was easy for
me as I spent many weeks editing on the software for a different assignment. My weaknesses of the
2. post production was adding the text at the end using Adobe After Effects as I didn’t have as much
knowledge on that programme.
I have shown my video to numerous of my tutors and they have commented back saying that my
music fit in with the advert, I gave a clear message of what I was trying to put out but there wasn’t
enough brand identification to show that this advert was for Nike.
My conclusion is that I have achieved my original aim of filming an advert for a younger audience,
making my advertrelate to the task I was given. But I should of spent more time on my pre
production so that my storyline would make more sense and manage the time I was given.
