Evaluation
What went well?
I am really pleased with the outcome of my edit as I have used a variety of different camera
angles which are all shown clearly throughout the edit, I have also used different transitions
making it a smoother transition between each clip. The conversations flows well and it has
been made so that the audience are left not knowing what is was about but Cleary
something bad has happened and I like this tension that it has created for the audience
watching. I think the black and white effect works well to help support the tension as it
makes it dark and sinister almost turning it into an intro to a horror movie. I have enjoyed
playing about with the different angles as its fun to have a variety and see which viewpoints
work best and which don’t. Overall I have enjoyed playing around with the software and
learning to remember it all again.
What didn’t go well and what would I change?
I think the sound on each clip could have been recorded separately making it link up e.g. the
footsteps coming down the stairs don’t quite match up and this is a fault when editing. This
could have been recorded on a microphone to make the sound quality better and not have
echoes or movement from the surroundings. I would use a stabilizer on the camera making
the movement sharper and smoother having less shaky moments and also will level out the
picture instead of having it on a slight tilt. I would also play around with adjusting the
lighting having them all at the same aperture so that no one of the clips would be lighter or
darker than the other. I could also add music into the background for the parts where they
aren’t talking as otherwise it seems a bit dull or even add background noise to make it seem
more real life. Furthermore I think I should’ve used more camera angles as there isn’t
actually that many in there and I feel this is stopping me from being able to edit things
further and really experiment with using the software and editing the clips together.
What have I learnt for next time?
For next time I will try and get a lot more shots using the different camera angles e.g. over
the shoulder, low angle, 180 degree rule and also some Panorama and close up shorts as i
think these would help improve my edit and the quality of the work. I would also make the
transitions between the clips much smoother and make it look as though it is all one take
instead of many different takes. I would maybe play around with the lighting and sound
maybe adding in non-diegetic sounds however ones which seemlike they are the real thing.
I look forward to learning new techniques and editing effcet6s to improve my work and
make it look of a much better quality.
