2. Process
Instead of having to draw in a gradient pixel by pixel in photoshop, I utilised the ‘gradient’
tool and was able to customise a gradient using presets. This will help with time
management as I can focus on the latter of animation instead of focusing on creating a
gradient for a background.
3. Process
When designing the first level referred to as
‘city of bones’ based off of the first book of
the series it was important for me to
incorporate referencing to the book itself
and quite literally. The way in which I did this
was by pulling from the colour palette of the
front cover. By using the website adobe
color, I was able to get the exact colour
palette which I then imported to photoshop
to be able to get the swatches.
All the
colours were
also
associated
under the
theme
‘muted’
5. Process – Rune Making
Before actually starting the
production of this project and
creating the levels, I experimented
on photoshop to create the ‘runes’
which are a key part of my project
and making it easily recognisable
to my target audience
6. Process
To create the correct and incorrect sounds I used the online website ‘beepbox’
which helps you create a simple sound which is ideal for my video game. By
pressing on one of the lines it creates a quick sound which you can loop as
many times as necessary. For me as I am only using these sounds as
indicators for the player when they are correct and incorrect, this worked well
for me
7. Process
When the player gets a pair incorrect or correct I wanted to
give the player the signal that they had been right or wrong
by using different colour indications. The way in which I did
this was sticking to the simple green = correct and red =
incorrect that way it was simple for the reader to
understand. I didn’t however want when the colour appeared
for it to completely fill the layer so I instead changed the
opacity down so it when layered at the top, it was a subtle
but clear indication to the player.
I have also screen recorded
the process which is uploaded
to both YouTube and blogger.

8. Process
To help make it easier on where my screen changes and when the colour
indicating when the player is correct or incorrect, I used these markers in
Premiere Pro to help. This allowed me to find the frame quickly as I put in the
sounds after having the timeline for all the different levels in the correct timing
that way if the timeline was messed up, I didn’t have to move the sounds. By
using this method, it helped me because I then didn’t make the mistake of
putting the wrong sound on the wrong level.
9. Process
One of the hardest things during this production process was finding the correct
timings for the revealing of each rune, transition between pairs left etc so I had
to find a system and timeline that would work in a realistic aspect as if the
player is playing the matching instruments. I also had to take into consideration
that I needed to have a smooth transition between each level which was
something to edit in premiere pro. By remembering that this had to be used, I
made the first frame last 5 seconds with just the generic background all the
levels have that way in premiere I can fade between each level without having
to worry about not having enough seconds

the process which is uploaded

10. Process
In photoshop, one of the things I had to focus on largely was the positioning of
my layers. If one layer ended up in the wrong position, it could end up hidden
behind other layers.
