Focus Groups
 Whilst creating my music magazine I made sure to ask others
for their opinion. I used three groups of people and kept to the
same groups throughout all of my feedback gathering. Each
group consisted of people who fit into the target audience age
range for my magazine.
 I asked each group as I progressed through each drafting stage
and took their feedback to improve upon each previous draft.
 The results that I am going to show are the findings that I
received at the end of my work.

Feedback Improvements
 Over the course of my coursework magazine creation I relied
on my focus groups to build upon improvements for my
magazine.
 After each draft I was able to use the feedback I received to
change elements of my work. For example I changed the
spacing between my images on my double page spread and
the font size. I changed the layout of my contents page after
receiving some constructive criticism from Group 2 and the
suggestion of using guidelines from Group 1. On my front cover
I again used the suggestion of guidelines from Group 1 and
changed the font so that it looked consistent with the rest of the
magazine and stood out more than the previous font I had.

Overall Appearance
 I asked each of the focus groups their opinion on what genre of
magazine, my music magazine looked like. After collating the
results I applied them into a pie chart and I am not surprised
that some people said that it looks like a fashion magazine or a
mix of both music and fashion because I did use fashion
magazine elements as style models however I am pleased that
overall my magazine looks like a music magazine and that this
was the conclusion of each focus group.

 Overall I think that the feedback I gained from my focus groups
was positive feedback. I am happy to see that my magazine as
a whole was respectably viewed and received positive thoughts
and I am glad to see that my images used were appreciated
and seen as good images for a music magazine. I thought that
the feedback for my featured artists and text was positive and
although I didn’t receive 100% on each I feel that it leaves room
for improvement and helps me for future experiences.
