2. Who Are IPC?
IPC media (International Publishing Corporation) is a consumer
magazine and the U.K.'s leading publisher of print and digital magazine
content. IPC has more than 60 iconic brands including NME and sells
over 350 million copies each year.
IPC creates content for multiple platforms, across print, online, mobile
and tablets. They engage with almost half of all UK adults in print and
there award winning websites reach over 28 million global users every
month.
3. IPC’s History
• IPC began when The International Publishing Corporation Ltd was formed in
1963. The UK's three leading magazine publishers, George Newnes, Odhams
Press and Fleetway Publications came together to form the International
Publishing Corporation (IPC). IPC Magazines were created five years later, in
1968.
• After IPC was formed in 1963, traditional competitors found themselves all
working for the same parent company (IPC). Competitors such as Ideal Home,
Homes & Gardens, Woman and Woman's Own all joined IPC in the 1960s.
• In 1988, IPC announced the formation of European Magazines Ltd and launched
the first U.K edition of the title. In 1998, IPC Magazines was sold to Cinven for
£860m, one of the largest management buyouts in UK history.
4. • In 2000, IPC Magazines is renamed IPC Media.
• Time Warner acquires IPC Media for £1.15bn in October 2001, the biggest
magazine deal ever seen in the UK and the biggest media deal of our time.
• The world's first men's weekly magazine, ‘NUTS’ was introduced in January 2004.
Backed by an £8 million marketing investment, it's the biggest launch in IPC's
history.
• In April 2012, IPC Media won an award for Best Production Team of the Year at
the Professional Publishers Association Production and Environment Awards
2012.

9. NME
• NME is the longest published and most respected music weekly in the world. NME(New
musical express) is one of many publications owned and managed by IPC. NME is a British
weekly music journalism publication, published since March 1952. It is largely associated
with rock, alternative and indie music.
• Every week it gives its readers the most exciting, most authoritative coverage of the very
best in music, including award-winning features, the latest releases and live reviews,
• NME started as a music newspaper, and gradually moved towards a magazine format during
the 1980s and 1990s. Its first issue was published on the 7th March 1952. It was the first
British paper to include a singles chart, in 14th November 1952 edition.
• NME is not just a magazine, it is a website. NME.com and it also has the brand's live events
and awards where they celebrate the best music of the past year.
• An online version of NME, NME.com, was launched in 1996. It is now the world's biggest
music site, with over 7 million users per month.

• NME’s target audience is for all genders and for people who enjoy
and listen to music, however its more focused on people who listen
to rock, alternative and indie music.
11. Ideal Homes
• Ideal Home is Britain's best-selling interiors magazine and has been
empowering home-owners to make the most of their properties for
over 80 years.
• Published since 1920, the magazine focuses on home interior
decoration articles; reader homes; high-street shopping news and
consumer advice. Every issue includes a 20-page section dedicated
to kitchen and bathroom makeovers.
• The Ideal Home website was launched in 2005 as an extension of the
magazine. It features galleries of room images, decorating advice
features, forums, blogs, shopping news and competitions.
