PARAGRAPH 1
Las próximas décadas veremos grandes cambios en la forma en que se suministra y se
utiliza la energía. En algunas de las principales naciones productoras de petróleo, el "pico
del petróleo" ya se ha alcanzado, y ha aumentado el temor por el calentamiento global. En
consecuencia, muchos países se están centrando en el cambio a una economía baja en
carbono. Esta transición llevará a cambios importantes en el suministro y el uso de la
electricidad. Primero, habrá un aumento en la demanda general, como los consumidores
pasarán del petróleo y el gas a la electricidad para alimentar sus hogares y vehículos.
Segundo, habrá un aumento en la generación de energía, no solo en términos de cuánto se
genera, sino cómo se genera, ya que aumenta la generación de electricidad a partir de
fuentes renovables. Para alcanzar estos desafíos, los países están invirtiendo en la

I didn’t find huge problems translating the first paragraph because I’m kind of used to this
kind of vocabulary just because a teach science I’m a bilingual school so that’s way I know
and understand words; talking about expression I must say this part it’s not so easy, we are
not native speakers and for this reason understand the meaning of expressions is not easy,
so what I do is to look on the internet and then, I try to use the expression as much as I can
or use words that bring me to mind the expression that I learned.

PARAGRAPH 2 Smart Grid technology basically involves the application of a computer
system to the electricity network. The computer system can be used to collect information
about supply and demand and improve engineer's ability to manage the system. With better
information about electricity demand, the network will be able to increase the amount of
electricity delivered per unit generated, leading to potential reductions in fuel needs and
carbon emissions. Moreover, the computer system will assist in reducing operational and
maintenance costs.
Tecnología Smart Grid consiste básicamente en la aplicación de un sistema informático a la
red eléctrica. El sistema puede utilizarse para recopilar información sobre la oferta y la
demanda y mejorar la capacidad del ingeniero para administrar el sistema. Con la mejor
información sobre demanda de electricidad, la red será capaz de aumentar la cantidad de
electricidad suministrada por unidad generada, dando lugar a posibles reducciones en las
necesidades de combustible y las emisiones de carbono. Además, el sistema le ayudará a
reducir el funcionamiento y los costes de mantenimiento.

4. REFLECTION The translation of texts is the ability of a person to interpret them but in
written form. Actually the text was not complicated to read and understand, when going to
translate it there were very few words which I did not understand very well, my vocabulary
is good because of what I have noticed, the text being short is easier to translate. Some
words that were difficult for me in the text are: Involves Amount Moreover On the other
hand, a frasque was difficult for me:

Translating texts is a good way to learn new vocabulary, really all of us who are learning
this language or any other should do this on a daily basis, from these texts to extract words
and find the meaning, this will help both writing, speaking and Reading Comprehension.

Although Smart Technology is still in its infancy, pilot schemes to promote and test it are
already underway. Consumers are currently testing the new smart meters which can be
used in their homes to manage electricity use. There are also a number of demonstrations
being planned to show how the smart technology could practically work, and trials are in

5. place to test the new electrical infrastructure. It is likely that technology will be added in
'layers', starting with 'quick win' methods which will provide initial carbon savings, to be
followed by more advanced systems at a later date. Cities are prime candidates for
investment into smart energy, due to the high population density and high energy use. It is
here where Smart Technology is likely to be promoted first, utilizing a range of sustainable
power sources, transport solutions and an infrastructure for charging electrically powered
vehicles. The infrastructure is already changing fast. By the year 2050, changes in the
energy supply will have transformed our homes, our roads and our behavior.

REFLECTION
During a translation it is necessary to take into account the relationship of the words with
the context to which they are being applied. For that reason, sometimes we find expressions
that perhaps are not very used in a specific context but that are grammatically correct and
also manage to understand correctly. Taking into account the subject of intelligent
technology, some difficulties have arisen with words that are not very common in my daily

6. lexicon, however, by going to other means of translation or word relationship it was
possible to understand the different meanings and their relationship with the applied theme.
A very significant advantage during the exercise is the improvement of the vocabulary or
lexicon since generally when we focus on teaching or learning English in specific
environments or areas it is possible to find errors when talking about unusual subjects,
therefore, the best exercise for improving fluency, knowledge and lexicon is the appropriate
reading of different types of articles or information and not focusing knowledge on singular
themes only.

8. Smart Grid technology offers benefits to the consumer too. They will be able to collect real-
time information on their energy use for each appliance. Varying tariffs throughout the day
will give customers the incentive to use appliances at times when supply greatly exceeds
demand, leading to great reductions in bills. For example, they may use their washing
machines at night. Smart meters can also be connected to the internet or telephone system,
allowing customers to switch appliances on or off remotely. Furthermore, if houses are
fitted with the apparatus to generate their own power, appliances can be set to run directly
from the on-site power source, and any excess can be sold to the grid.

During the translation it was difficult for me to translate the text because I do not have
almost vocabulary and that is why I do not understand it almost, I have to look for a
dictionary that does not include words.
And so to be able to understand the text and the techniques that I use to solve the problem
well is to read the text well and vocabulary that does not understand what I'm looking for.
