Case Study Of Subway
Business Identification & Summary: The above case study is about the success story of Subway.
Subway's type of ownership is franchise. Subway was founded in the year 1965 in state of
Connecticut in the United States of America by Fred DeLuca who 17 years old at the time and was
looking to pay his college fees by opening a sandwich shop. DeLuca's restaurant has since expanded
and is, today, one of the largest restaurant franchises in the world. DeLuca started by getting a loan
of $1000 from a close friend who encouraged him to open his own restaurant. In 1965, he started his
first restaurant but the result was underwhelming. Instead of closing his business down, he went on
and opened a second restaurant. Yet again, the result was underwhelming. ... Show more content on

Beirut in Lebanon, and Singapore city; and the Latin America support center is in state of Florida. In
1965, Fred DeLuca borrowed $1,000 from friend Peter Buck to start "Pete's Super Submarines" in
Connecticut, and in the following year they formed a company called Doctor's Associates Inc. to
oversee operations of the restaurants as the franchise expanded. The name of the holding company
is coming from the fact that DeLuca was aspiring to become a doctor but instead opened a
restaurant that eventually became Subway. In the year 1968, the sandwich shop was renamed

A Swot Analysis Of Jimmy John's
In order to understand how each of these sub shops position their brand it is important to understand
the history of the company. Let us start with Jimmy Johns. Jimmy John Liataud started Jimmy
John's in 1983, concentrating not only on developing sandwiches from his own recipe, but also
stressing "freaky fast" delivery (History, nd.). This appealed to students in the nearby Eastern
Illinois University (History, nd.). Subway, was started by Fred DeLuca with financial help from Dr.
Peter Buck, in 1965, as a way to pay from his med school education (Subway, nd.). DeLuca needed
to learn the basics of business, as well as the importance of serving well made, high quality
products, providing excellent customer service, while keeping operating costs low and finding great
locations (Subway, nd.). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jimmy John's advertises the greatest gourmet sandwiches, with "freaky fast" delivery. Their options
are much less customizable than Subway. Jimmy John's focus is on speed and simplicity. Subway
advertises quick, nutritious meals for the whole family. Subway allows any sandwich to be made
anyway. They focus on quick, fresh and nutritious meals.
These two brands are similar in that they provide subs as an alternative to fast food. The differences
are numerous. Jimmy Johns' calorie count on the subs can be significantly higher than those of
Subway, but Jimmy John's does not try to compete in this category. Jimmy John's focuses on the
quickness on their ordering and delivery process, where Subway focuses on the customizable,
nutritious array of options to provide a quick fresh meal for their customer. The Subway brand can
also be found all over the world, Jimmy John's is strictly a North American

Franchising Subway Essay
Franchising Subway Franchising has attracted some 34,000 people in the UK to invest in their
future in self employment. Here are 15 reasons why franchises offer an attractive business
opportunity. 1. Established brand value. Prior to launching a franchise, the franchisor has developed
and established attractive and meaningful branding for the operation, and as the network of
franchisees expands the national recognition of this brand grows. When a franchisee enters into a
mature franchisee network, they will benefit from the national name recognition the brand has built
when it comes to their own marketing initiatives, while even new launch franchises have invested in
professionally designed and intellectually protected branding to ... Show more content on

The franchisee can enter into self–employment confident that they are well prepared to tackle the
challenge ahead. 6. Established profit margins. Setting price levels to balance between
competitiveness and profitability is a complicated process, often involving some trial and error that
can prolong the development period of the franchisees business before break even. The franchisor
will be able to help franchisees set the right pricing levels from day one to ensure they are not under
or over quoting, maximising the profits their business generates. 7. Recommended suppliers or
direct supply. The franchisor will be able to offer assistance in sourcing the products and services
that franchisees will require to operate their business, and in some cases will even act as the
franchisees main supplier. 8. Ongoing training. Whether the franchisees initial training is one week
or two months, they won't be expected to absorb everything immediately. Many franchisors stagger
their initial training to help franchisees learn while they are 'on–the–job'. This commitment to
ongoing training also enables established franchisees to benefit from improvements in the
franchisor's training provision, and eases the introduction of new products or services to the
business. 9. Continual support. Having the back up of a larger company is one of

Quiznos Went Out of Business in Rexburg
Why did Quiznos go out of business in Rexburg? "Did you know that we are closing this week?"
she asked. It was the same lady who had taken my order and made the same sandwich for me every
week–and sometimes more... for the last couple of years. I almost couldn't believe my ears as I
replied saying, "Are you serious? When?" The Quiznos that was once very close to my house in
Idaho Falls was going under. It was the start of something that would truly prove to be detrimental
to my physical and emotional well–being. Now fast–forward a couple of years. Imagine that you're
in my shoes, with the knowledge that there is not a Quiznos in operation (that you know of) within
150 miles. Then you see it: the Quiznos sign. You walk up for a closer look, and find that the place
is completely desolate. How would you feel? Would you ask yourself why? How? Because that is
exactly what I did.
So what is the most important thing in a restaurant? You'd think it would be food. In a talk given by
Thomas Keller, a restaurant owner, about what excellent food does to a restaurant, Mr. Keller talks a
lot about the quality of food, and a customers experience. The experience that one has in a restaurant
is something that should be completely about the consumer. If the consumer does not have a good
experience at a restaurant, there is a good chance that he or she will not come back. The quality of
the food at a restaurant can depend a lot on the quality of ingredients. It's important to always have

Case Number One
Case Number One – Subway Sandwich Shops Situation Analysis
Subway Sandwich, as presented in the Case Study presented in the Marketing Management MGT
551 class, is an undisputed market leader in a segment that is "firmly established as a nationwide
food item for which there is plenty of room in all areas" (University of Phoenix, 2008). However,
with a growing competition, changing consumer trends and increased product specialization,
Subway's real strategic marketing challenge is to be able to develop and maintain a differential
advantage while sustaining sales growths and profitability.
Subway Sandwich effectively competes with other fast–food restaurants by including and promoting
healthier meals into its menu, as demonstrated by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"Customization of bread types, flavor, toppings and ingredients coupled with fresh, steamed, toasted
preparations provide combinations that appeal to almost all consumers" (Tristano in Levin, 2008).
Based on the factors and demographic data exposed above the following market needs were
identified:
– Consciousness: desire for fresh ingredients and healthy foods
– Convenience: food prepared fast before the consumer's eyes
– Flexibility: meal customized to the customer's taste
– Adaptation: menu options adapted to regional and ethnical needs
– Product, price, promotion and place adapted to the consumers' needs
Market trends
In the last decade, a lot of emphasis has been put on adopting healthy eating habits and informing
the consumers that the healthy–eating option was available in fast–food restaurant chains.
Interestingly, consumers eating in fast–food chains were found to be more likely to order fattening
side dishes if they think that they are consuming a healthy diet (Men's Fitness, March 2008). This
observation is also true in Subway restaurants where a 12 inch Italian sandwich contains over 900
calories compared to the 600 calories BigMac from MacDonald's (Wilson Quarterly, Winter 2008).
Thinking they are eating "healthy", Subway patrons then splurge on soft drinks, potato chips and
desserts accompanying their sandwich, especially is they are offered as part of value meals.

Subway Is Testing A New Rebranding Campaign
Overview
On August 18, 2015, longtime Subway pitchman Jared Fogle was arrested under a child
pornography investigation. Quick to respond, Subway communicated to press via public comment
and Twitter on their stance. Hours after the arrest, Subway made public its separation from Fogle
and its disgust and lack of knowledge of the crimes committed. Because of their quick response,
while they were directly tied to Fogle, most of the negative response was placed on Fogle and not
Subway. Moving forward, Subway is testing a new rebranding campaign in Australia that focuses on
products, rather than a pitchman.
Company History:
In 1965, a 17–year–old medical school student, Fred DeLuca, opened up a submarine sandwich
shop in Connecticut on a $1,000 loan from a friend. By 1982, the chain had opened up its 300th
location. In 1984, the Subway sandwich chain was introduced overseas and by 1990, there were
more than 5,000 locations. Today, Subway has the most sandwich restaurants in the world at 37,000
locations (3). Known for their freshly baked bread and healthy options, Subway restaurants are
located in schools, malls, gas stations, airports and even zoos. In 1995, the Subway began its
journey towards becoming a major supporter of motorsports. In 1996, www.subway.com was
launched and was featured multiple times in the movie "Happy Gilmore" (3). In 1999, an article was
written about an overweight college student who lost a large amount of weight eating nothing but

analysis of these two companies. Subway's first restaurant was opened in Bridgeport Connecticut in
August 1965. Their goal at the time was to serve a high quality product by providing excellent
customer service. One of their key approaches to success is to keep a low operating cost with a great
location to grow their business. Nowadays, Subway is the world largest submarine chain with more

There are some challenges and issues arise at the Subway restaurant operation. One of it is high
employee turnover. As we know, the fast food industry has one of the highest turnover rates of any
industry. Employees are often temporary or seasonal workers, most of them students working during
the semester breaks or part–time jobs. Also, the low wages affect the workers too, they may leave as
soon as they get a better offer. The turnover rate in the industry varies from restaurant to restaurant
and year to year. There are many factors that contribute to employee turnover such as the younger
employees are more likely to leave their jobs and frequently they are working part–time positions.

What is Quiznos's market share compared to Subway, and how much market share is available in
the sandwich segment globally?
Quiznos's biggest threat is that it competes with Subway's $5 foot long, Subway is successful due to
how it advertises itself also.(QSRweb, n.d) Quiznos competitive advantage is that it has way more
variety, from the sizes of their subs, to various different options and way zestier ingredients. As far
as market share they are a competitor in the fast food market. Their market share is very small
compared to Subway. Quiznos saw a fall in market share of over 50% which was from 5,000 to now
only 2,100 stores. (QSRweb, n.d) Quiznos is now behind Subway the leader and Jimmy Johns at
second. Subway has over 40,000 stores globally so there is no comparison. (QSRweb, n.d) Quiznos
did not only struggle with Subway as far as pricing globally but also with the Jared campaign of
2000 that focused on healthier foods pleasing the average consumer who are health conscious.
There is an increase in overall market share of the sandwich segment globally as it is said that
consumers are purchasing sandwiches away from home versus making them and taking them from

With Jimmy John's reputation for quick service, the most notable substitute would be any of the
many fast–food restaurants available. Second would the option of a sit–down restaurant. Also, a
final substitute would be the option for consumers to purchase food from a grocery store and eat at
home. The fast–food restaurants that would most likely serve as substitutes would be places like
Burger King, McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Wendy's. These restaurants offer relatively inexpensive
food like Jimmy John's, and also cater to the customer that is in a hurry. Jimmy John's holds a
decided advantage over these fast–food burger and taco restaurants with their offer of fresh
ingredients and a healthier sandwich. Sit down restaurants may be able to compete with Jimmy
John's in their ability to offer a more nutritious meal, but they do not offer some of the other
amenities that are available at Jimmy John's. A sit down restaurant will not offer the quick
turnaround of a freshly made sandwich or be able to match the price of a Jimmy John's meal.
Consumers who purchase their own food and make their meals at home will be able to compete with
Jimmy John's on both price and nutritional value, but will not have the speed or ease of ordering a
sandwich from Jimmy John's. These three substitutes offer viable options to the customers in Jimmy
John's target market, but Jimmy John's

Demographic Environment
The purpose of the scanning the social, demographic and culture is to determine the significance of
population changes on the nature of population and customer purchase behaviour. (Reed 2007)

the understanding of business, entrepreneurship and franchising, but also a story which can inspire
and awake all of us to new possibilities in our own lives and careers.
II. The story of Subway The story of the foundation of the first Subway restaurant started in 1965 by
the 17–year–old Fred DeLuca who, seeking to earn money for college, decided to take a $1000 loan

i. Organizational chart
Attachment 1 in Appendix
The organizational structure of a Subway restaurant has a clear hierarchy and it is signed by explicit
responsibility and activity allocation.
The highest position of the employee chain in the Subway restaurant is taken by the general
manager. He is directly responsible for the governance of the entire restaurant operation. The
manager should make sure operations reflect the culture of the whole corporation, ensure the policy
of the company is being followed and guarantee that customers are satisfied with their experience.
Managers are responsible for the hiring and firing decisions too.
In their organizing tasks they have to build a structure of working relationships between all of the
members in the organization, that best allows them to work together and attain goals.
By directing managers define directions , state a clear conception for employees to follow and help
them understand the role they play in the achieving of goals.
The directing functions tend towards a high level of motivation and commitment from employees to
the organization. In a larger restaurant, there may be one or several co–managers onsite to assist

Market Trends The sub sandwich franchise Subway, has been trail blazing the sandwich the market

industry analysts have seen for years. By making toasted sandwiches a hot item, Denver–based

Leader: Subway franchisees have found a way to ensure a safe and consistent supply chain by using
an Internet–based supply–management system. Subway's Independent Purchasing Cooperative,
which is owned by the chain's North American franchisees, has been using supply–chain software
since the end of 2001 and rolled out the food–quality component, called Qualitynet, in 2004.

By adding lightweight items such as straws and napkins, it was able to cube out the loads and bring
an end to the shipping of air. The third source of innovation for IPC and Subway lay in the
production and shipping of bread. Rapid growth in the number of stores was putting a strain on the
old system, with bakeries running at 110–percent capacity in the summer months. IPC knew it had
to add bread plants; the only question was where. Working with C.H. Robinson, the company
analyzed the location of its current plants and DCs, devising multiple "what–if" scenarios to come
up with the most efficient network and lowest landed cost. One new bread plant in Tolleson, Ariz.,
operated by Southwest Baking, deployed state–of–the–art, fully automated systems to allow for
increased production and greater flexibility in volumes. Other facilities were built in Austin, Tex.,
Columbia, S.C. and Centralia, Wash. The new network, with plants closer to the source, allowed
Subway's vendors to double the efficiency of bread–line capacity while improving product quality,
Clabby says. IPC and C.H. Robinson reevaluate the bread–sourcing plan each year, taking into
account changes in manufacturing costs, bakery capacity, volume commitments, market demand and
cost per case. IPC works closely with Subway's marketing and product–development managers to
support new demand. The $5 foot–long promotion, for example, led to a 20–percent increase in
sales. That caused a 48–percent

4 P's of Subway Restaurants: Promotion
Subway's Promotional Methods Subway, the largest franchise in the world, uses various promotion
methods. Subway uses mass selling as their primary way of advertising. Since the target market is
large and scattered over 98 countries, this is the easiest way for Subway to target their products.
They announce their promotions using TV ads, radio ads, newspapers, and online ads. Subway also
uses publicity as a form of advertising. Jared Fogle, Billy Blanks, and Michael Phelps are all great
examples of this. We all know Jared as the overweight college graduate who lost 245 pounds by
eating Subway sandwiches three times daily, Billy as the fitness guru known for the Tae Bo videos
and Michael, superstar Olympian who loves the meatball and ... Show more content on

Recommendations of Promotion I do not believe that Subway should make any drastic changes to
their promotion element. They are a great company and exhibit that through their success. Their $5
Footlong promotion was originally set to be a four–week promotion, but has been running for over
two years. Their product tastes great and is healthy and fresh. I believe that they're doing a great job
and have created a big name for their company, but if they went out into the community to hand out
coupons that would be great. I think if they went to college campuses and handed out coupons to
students, it would create bigger sales for them. College students are always looking for ways to save
a buck or two, and there are locations in and around college campuses, so I think this is a great idea.
Pricing Methods/Policies Subway uses the one–price policy in its stores to keep customers buying
their products. All of their subs cost the same among stores (Albers). In the case of the $5 Footlong,
all stores charge the same price because they want to maintain goodwill among their customers.
This one–price policy is convenient for their numerous stores that are part of the largest franchise in
the world.
Related Pricing with Competitors Subway's prices are of equal or greater value than their
competition. When Subway introduced

From Sandwich Shop to Subway

Subway was founded in 1965 by Fred DeLuca and Peter Buck. The duo opened their first sandwich
shop when DeLuca was only seventeen years old. DeLuca's childhood dream was to become a
prominent doctor. Therefore, he needed to find a way to pay for his medical career. On the other
hand, Peter Buck was a family friend who offered DeLuca the possibility to become business
partners. Their first store was opened in Bridgeport, Connecticut. It was called, "Pete's Super
Submarines." They sold over three hundred sandwiches on the opening day. The price range for
each sandwich was between forty–nine to sixty–nine cents. Although they struggled for couple of
years they were optimistic. Their goal at that time was to open over thirty stores in the next ten
years. The pair wanted to create a success' image. Later, Fred learned that good customer service,
quality food and low prices were important to stay in business for a long time.
In 1968, the little submarine shop changed their name to the trademark "Subway." They made seven
thousand dollars only on that year. However, the duo was too ambitious to settle with that. It was in
1974, and after sixteen stores in Wallingford, Connecticut that Subway grew into a franchise. In this
way, becoming the first franchise in the United States. The mindset of DeLuca and Buck was to
allow the now chain brand, to expand countrywide. But at this point they fell half way short on their
original goal ten years ago. This

diffusion of innovation model as I did with Subway, since most of the day to day business situations
can be seen by franchisees who are very hands on KFC have put them self at a loss by not listening
to their franchisees. Being the late majority and late adopters they represent a group which are
slower and more content to see how the market develops, they want more reassurance about the

therefore resisted adopting new techniques in marketing, promotion and development. On the flip
side KFC's more sceptical out look has allowed them to maintain their market position, by being
more traditional in their approach they don't stand risking failure and financial losses which can
sometimes occur from innovation when a lot is invested on research of development which don't
then translate in to profits for the chain.

Pros And Cons Of Inequality
You can tell there is inequality in this world just simply based on the word "mankind". I am sure
almost everyone in the world has been impacted by some sort of inequality/ abuse of power in the
world. Inequality can occur when a population of any kind does not maintain a common status, or
could also be a difference in power between individuals. Inequality can take place anywhere at any
time, and has been a major problem in the world today. Some people may not care about this, some
people really express their feelings on this subject, but some people just simply don't know much
about the subject. Inequality can happen anywhere from your own home to globally all over the
world. Back in my hometown, Medford Massachusetts, I work at a local popular sub shop. This sub
shop has people coming from all neighboring towns just dying to try one of our famous subs. I work
here as a chef with a small crew of around 6 total workers who are all very close to each other. I
have been working here for a while, and I have seen workers come and go, but the one thing I
realized is that I've never seen/heard of a girl working here before. I figured I would bring this topic
across to my boss, Joe. My boss was sort of looked at as a "local hero." He was always quick to

The chain aims to work with the theory of overall operational excellence and has takes advantage of
a creative and extraordinary business model that just amazes us and has really changed our
perception of the fast food industry. Today there are so many fast food (QSR) chains, that are just
incredible in the way they tend to do their business; being more and more of innovation seeking to
get their customers and to get them to buy more and more from them; but Subway is one such QSR,
that according to many experts, is taking the standard of the fast food industry to higher levels and is

actually care about what you have to say; and at the same time being very productive with handling

Why Franchise? Why Subway
Why Franchise.
Franchising has attracted some 34,000 people in the UK to invest in their future in self employment.
Here are 15 reasons why franchises offer an attractive business opportunity.
1. Established brand value.
Prior to launching a franchise, the franchisor has developed and established attractive and
meaningful branding for the operation, and as the network of franchisees expands the national
recognition of this brand grows. When a franchisee enters into a mature franchisee network, they
will benefit from the national name recognition the brand has built when it comes to their own
marketing initiatives, while even new launch franchises have invested in professionally designed
and intellectually protected branding to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some franchisors even establish mentor programmes, where more experienced franchisees provide
practical advice and guidance to new launch franchisees.
11. Economies of scale.
By joining a national network of franchisees, franchisees are becoming part of a large group of
buyers with the ability to negotiate preferential prices from suppliers and generate other economies
of scale, such as in delivery charges. Franchisees may even be able to secure exclusive access to a
product or service.
12. Referral business.
The standardised nature of a franchised business 's product or service means that franchisees in
other areas will be able to pass on recommendations and referrals from their clients to businesses in
their territory. This is a powerful sales tool when marketing to businesses who may have offices
already being serviced in other areas by other franchisees in their network.
13. National and international contracts.
As the franchise develops a countrywide presence, the franchisor will be able to market to large
companies and win national business for its franchisees, providing their business with a regular
stream of high value, repeat business.
14. Continual research and development by the Franchisors.
The economies of scale derived from operating a national network of franchisees encourage the
franchisor to invest in research and development to improve the product and service offering and
compete on a national and international level. As a result

Subway was founded in the year 1965 in state of Connecticut in the United States of America by Fred DeLuca who 17 years old at the time and was looking to pay his college fees by opening a sandwich shop. DeLuca's restaurant has since expanded and is, today, one of the largest restaurant franchises in the world. DeLuca started by getting a loan of $1000 from a close friend who encouraged him to open his own restaurant. In 1965, he started his first restaurant but the result was underwhelming. Instead of closing his business down, he went on and opened a second restaurant. Yet again, the result was underwhelming. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The regional offices for European franchises are located in Amsterdam; the Australia and New Zealand locations are being assisted from city of Brisbane in Australia; the Asia continent locations are supported from offices located in city of Beirut in Lebanon, and Singapore city; and the Latin America support center is in state of Florida. In 1965, Fred DeLuca borrowed $1,000 from friend Peter Buck to start "Pete's Super Submarines" in Connecticut, and in the following year they formed a company called Doctor's Associates Inc. to oversee operations of the restaurants as the franchise expanded. The name of the holding company is coming from the fact that DeLuca was aspiring to become a doctor but instead opened a restaurant that eventually became Subway. Jimmy John Liataud started Jimmy John's in 1983, concentrating not only on developing sandwiches from his own recipe, but also stressing "freaky fast" delivery (History, nd.). This appealed to students in the nearby Eastern Illinois University (History, nd.). Subway, was started by Fred DeLuca with financial help from Dr. Peter Buck, in 1965, as a way to pay from his med school education (Subway, nd.). DeLuca needed to learn the basics of business, as well as the importance of serving well made, high quality products, providing excellent customer service, while keeping operating costs low and finding great locations (Subway, nd.). ... They focus on quick, fresh and nutritious meals. These two brands are similar in that they provide subs as an alternative to fast food. The differences are numerous. Jimmy Johns' calorie count on the subs can be significantly higher than those of Subway, but Jimmy John's does not try to compete in this category. Setting price levels to balance between competitiveness and profitability is a complicated process, often involving some trial and error that can prolong the development period of the franchisees business before break even. The franchisor will be able to help franchisees set the right pricing levels from day one to ensure they are not under or over quoting, maximising the profits their business generates. 7. The franchisor will be able to offer assistance in sourcing the products and services that franchisees will require to operate their business, and in some cases will even act as the franchisees main supplier. 8. Ongoing training. Whether the franchisees initial training is one week or two months, they won't be expected to absorb everything immediately. Many franchisors stagger their initial training to help franchisees learn while they are 'on–the–job'. This commitment to ongoing training also enables established franchisees to benefit from improvements in the franchisor's training provision, and eases the introduction of new products or services to the business. 9. • 4. Quiznos Went Out of Business in Rexburg Why did Quiznos go out of business in Rexburg? "Did you know that we are closing this week?" she asked. It was the same lady who had taken my order and made the same sandwich for me every week–and sometimes more... for the last couple of years. I almost couldn't believe my ears as I replied saying, "Are you serious? When?" The Quiznos that was once very close to my house in Idaho Falls was going under. It was the start of something that would truly prove to be detrimental to my physical and emotional well–being. Now fast–forward a couple of years. Imagine that you're in my shoes, with the knowledge that there is not a Quiznos in operation (that you know of) within 150 miles. Then you see it: the Quiznos sign. You walk up for a closer look, and find that the place is completely desolate. How would you feel? Would you ask yourself why? How? Because that is exactly what I did. So what is the most important thing in a restaurant? You'd think it would be food. In a talk given by Thomas Keller, a restaurant owner, about what excellent food does to a restaurant, Mr. Keller talks a lot about the quality of food, and a customers experience. The experience that one has in a restaurant is something that should be completely about the consumer. If the consumer does not have a good experience at a restaurant, there is a good chance that he or she will not come back. However, with a growing competition, changing consumer trends and increased product specialization, Subway's real strategic marketing challenge is to be able to develop and maintain a differential advantage while sustaining sales growths and profitability. Subway Sandwich effectively competes with other fast–food restaurants by including and promoting healthier meals into its menu, as demonstrated by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "Customization of bread types, flavor, toppings and ingredients coupled with fresh, steamed, toasted preparations provide combinations that appeal to almost all consumers" (Tristano in Levin, 2008). They are a great company and exhibit that through their success. Their $5 Footlong promotion was originally set to be a four–week promotion, but has been running for over two years. Their product tastes great and is healthy and fresh. I believe that they're doing a great job and have created a big name for their company, but if they went out into the community to hand out coupons that would be great. I think if they went to college campuses and handed out coupons to students, it would create bigger sales for them. College students are always looking for ways to save a buck or two, and there are locations in and around college campuses, so I think this is a great idea. Pricing Methods/Policies Subway uses the one–price policy in its stores to keep customers buying their products. All of their subs cost the same among stores (Albers). In the case of the $5 Footlong, all stores charge the same price because they want to maintain goodwill among their customers.
