listen to the radio and 3 males aged 16 say listening to
the radio is boring.
Evaluation
Radio consumption is generally a popular source of media as it can give easy
access to news and music. In my survey I found the only radio stations the
people I spoke to listen to were mainly the local stations. The ways in which
they listened to the radio remained the same as cars and apps give a wide
range in radio stations in the area you are in. Adults aged 20-50 usually listen
to the news via their car radio however, this was only the local news which is
featured in the radio stations they listen to.
Evaluation
The gender was varied in the different categories. The national radio stations
are listened to by males aged 50-70. This is because it give more variety if their
generation and the generation today. The differences in the people consuming
local radio would be drivers listening for news bulletins related to road traffic
whereas, passenger listen to the music. The people who listen to national radio
are interested in what's going on outside the local area and can also bring a
variety of music from these various areas.
Evaluation
The different ages didn't really vary the results as 16-50 year olds listened to
the same local station. The only one which stood out was the ages 70-80 as
they listened to Classical FM via an old fashioned radio player as they don't
keep up with the technology and are more restricted with the radio stations.
The more experience drivers aged 40-70 normally listen to the local radio for
the news. The couple that chose the national radio stations were aged between
50-70 as they preferred older music.
Overall
Overall, the data I collected gives a wide range of ages however, the majority of
the results came back as local radio was the most popular. However, I did get
some national radio data. I spoke to the people I asked and only the adults
30+ claimed they listen to the news for traffic and the headlines. However, the
passengers 16-30 tend to ignore the news and adverts and wait to hear the
music. There is a higher percentage in those who listen to radio than those who
don’t making it a popular source of media.
