For instance, radios, televisions, newspapers, and magazines are forms of media. The influence the media has around the globe is profound, therefore,
in this essay, I am going to discuss the impact that media has on the society today.
Although social media can connect all people in the world instantly, the negative effects have a great impact on the society because it decreases the
desire for actual communication.
First and foremost, media has an impact on Change in Identity.
In Miss Representation video, it is said that "53% of 13 year old girls are unhappy with their bodies. And that number increases by 75% at 17 years
old. And 65% in women and girls with anorexia"
This is very true because in teen magazines and beauty pageant shows, women are portrayed as "skinny".
This image by the media today is unrealistic and even a very dangerous standard of feminine beauty.
The idea by media that "thinness" is idealized and expected for women to be considered "attractive".
Images in televisions, advertisements, and music usually portray women as "ideal woman" as tall, white, blonde, and thin. Women and girls with
weight problems like obesity, are going to feel less worthy and ashamed of their physical appearances.
This causes them to be depressed which can lead to suicidal attempts because they learn to accept that the society only wants skinny

The main questions that should be asked is why is there is much crime in society today? I am 27 years old and I have seen so much crime in my

There is no doubt that technology plays a big role in society today. Whether people like it or not, one thing is definite: technology is not going
anywhere. Having grown up in the midst of the digital revolution, technology was going to be a part of my life, and it most definitely has. No matter
if it is the Internet, computers, cell phones, tablets, video games; I have been exposed to all of them. However, of all the pieces of technology I have
used, the one I cannot live without would have to be my laptop. This year has opened my eyes to how important it is to have a nice laptop. Whether I

Sexual harassment accusations regarding public figures has been one of the most popular news we see on social media these days. "Sexual harassment
becomes a crime only when there is a nonconsensual touching or sexual contact that can be prosecuted." (Henning, 2017). Some of the accused
individuals are admitting their guilt in some of these situations, while many are denying these allegations, particularly those that occurred decades ago.

dependent on. Coal, a solid stone like fossil fuel, has been found to be useful in many different ways like refining materials, use of it 's by–products

Honesty within the agency it should be a goal for everyone involved in the corporation.
Another issue of racial and biased profiling is also a popular problem for law enforcement today. The important thing for officers is to maintain a
balance of justice and treat all citizens equally. Of course this become an issue plenty of times when crimes start and the scapegoat of such crime
was a member of a small group, or vice, and the suspect is part of the small group. Assuming the victim were African American in a predominantly
White community, the example is, the police just might find themselves attack as not working as much to find the criminal. Looking at it from
another standpoint, if the criminal were guess to be Black, the police may be absolve for going out of their way to find him /her guilty. Now we all
should know that race is not the main or only issue when references to profiling, especially knowing about the 911 attacks (September 11, 2001).
Today, police officers have to proceed with caution in respect to religion, and make additional efforts to display they are not attacking specific religious

This was relevant to my paper in answering the question of why there are certain expectations of women in television news. The textbook, Gender,
Race and Class in Media had a few chapters relevant to my paper. Larry Gross wrote a chapter titled, "Out of the

Children are not able to develop the social skills that they are supposed to when they do not get out and play with other adolescents or even interact

All these things add together like lack of jobs , poor education and health care meant that these areas became ghettos.
With these ghettos came crime. People couldn't get jobs and they still need to pay the bills and put food on the table. Selling and using of drugs
became a huge problem in these areas. Using and supplying of drugs became easer in the cite ghettos with the lack of police in the areas. And with
the drugs came crime. The situation was not helped when people could buy a news paper just as easy as a gun. Death by drugs and crime in these

I chose assessment #10: Authenticity Scale (Biswas–Diener, 2010, p. 122) for my assessment. Between this current quarter and the last, I pushed
myself beyond limits on another section of the Appalachian Trail. On the morning of day number 3 out of 6, I snapped a selfie of myself as I
crested a ridge line on a bald (treeless ridge line with unlimited views). The photo was unique and looked manipulated with a filter due to the glare

being honest with myself.
Unfortunately, this strength of authenticity (i.e., the VIA strength of honesty is further defined as being authentic with integrity) facilitates a mindset
that does not tolerate others who are not. One of my other strengths (as tested in a spiritual gifts test) is discernment. I can usually tell when someone is
not being authentic. I strive to be authentic and I expect the same from others if they want me to trust them.

Gender Inequality In The Media
Anderson Cooper. Don Lemon. Jake Tapper. Matt Lauer. These faces flash across our television screens, constantly crop up in our daily conversations,
and dominate the news and media. But wait, there's something missing from the list of names above– a group constituting nearly 51% of our
population– women("Women's Health USA 2012."). Scarce are mentions of successful female journalists. Scarce are women confidently voicing their
political opinions on reputable news channels. Scarce are truly powerful female journalists. In reality, this problem goes unnoticed by most– in fact,
despite being a news and politics aficionado, it didn't hit me until recently that women were so blatantly marginalized in this industry. It is perfectly
valid to question the relevancy of such an obscure issue, but obscurity does not equate to unimportance. Portraying women unequally in the media
defies not only our principles, but also the nation's principles. How can we claim that we are a nation of equal opportunity if we don't practice what
we preach? We must encourage women to increase their political awareness and take on leadership roles in the media, especially in covering the most
vital topics, because the underrepresentation of women in media encourages disparity between the sexes.
