Client: Harness Racing New South Wales
(HRNSW)
Project Description
In July 2010 HRNSW appointed ISFM to undertake a
facility and business review of harness racing in NSW.
The initial scope of the study was contained to the four
AHRC Home Straight
country clubs noted below:
− Albury,
− Bathurst,
− Leeton; and
− Wagga Wagga
The aim of the study was to thoroughly examine each of
the clubs facilities and business operations to assess
their performance and at the same time identify improve-
ment opportunities. The final report provided a number of
observations, as well as suggestions and recommenda-
tions, relative to improving the performance of the indus-
try and the commercial viability of individual clubs.

ISFM achieved the following key outcomes:
− A detailed audit of all venues facili-
ties at each of the Harness Racing
clubs
− An analysis of each club including
analysis of business performance,
organisational structure and staffing,
market opportunities and barriers to
growth (both internal and external
barrier)
− A thorough market research pro-
gram that included consultation with
club personnel, local government,
local industry and other key commu-
nity persons/groups
− A comprehensive summary of find-
ings, including a listing of observa-
tions and recommendations for the
Wagga Wagga Harness and consideration of HRNSW
