2. Front cover:
Masthead = ‘The Alternative’ instantly
stands out and reveals the intended
genre
Model = The model is young and fits with the
description of the audience. This makes
her relatable to them particularly to the
few female readers – which could
encourage more of them to read the
magazine. In turn though, by using an
attractive female this could draw in the
male audience too
Subheadings = these show some of the
content in the publication and give the
audience a glimpse of what is featured.
The subheadings I have used are about
festivals, tours and music reviews – all
things people interested in the genre
would want to know
Competition = The competition is for V
festival – which in itself is popular but my
target audience seem to really like
festivals. Some of the acts appearing this
year are from the Alternative genre such
as The Stone Roses, The Killers, Snow
Patrol and The Happy Mondays
3. Contents:
The masthead = has the
same effect as the one
on the front cover as it
also stands out
Page numbers = the
page numbers stand
out and immediately
catch the readers eye
as they are red and
bold
4. Double page spread:
Questions = the questions asked to the star are red
and bold – so they have a similar effect to the page
numbers for the contents
Model = has the same effect as on the front cover
5. Conclusion
I think my magazine appeals and
attracts the desired audience well by
including eye catching features and
information they would be interested
in reading about.
