2. THE PROCESS OF CONSTRUCTING
•Two drafts including the final draft for the student magazine.
(Preliminary task)
•Three drafts including the final draft for the music magazine. (Main task)
•This was to show the transition and development of idea throughout the
process.
•Therefore reinforcing the development of draft one to the last draft; it
puts emphasis on the change during the process.
•The easiest change was changing the font to follow the same house
style.

3. Development in Preliminary
For the preliminary I used basic tools
such as the ‘crop’ tool.
This got rid of parts of the picture
like the sides etc.
Here I am demonstrating using
the ‘crop tool by erasing the
white and therefore making the
image smaller.

4. Development in Preliminary
Here I am still using basic
tools, I am clicking the
rectangle tool in order to
make a shape. The shape
is automatically yellow,
now I need to add text.
I’m clicking on the text tools.
This is so I can add my text to the
yellow box.
By clicking on the shape a
circular symbol appears wishing
you to insert text.
Overall, I have demonstrated the use of basic tools throughout the
preliminary, however, when I reached my main task I had developed the
knowledge of how to work other complex tools. This was with the help of
my media teachers and YouTube tutorials!

5. Transformation of main task

Immediate differences with
technique from the preliminary to
the main task are obvious, here the
background to the front cover is
black and white, demonstrating the
use of the ‘gradient’ tool. A tool I
consider complex in comparison to
the ‘crop’ tool which is basic. I have
also learnt how to deal with layers,
the main image in the final draft is
much bigger and the models heads
appear over the masthead, this
makes it look more professional
and conforms to magazines like
‘KERRANG!’ In general my use of
photoshop has improved
considerably, I began not knowing
anything and have come away with
being able to construct a music
magazine.
