2. Week 1
• To start this project we will be starting with the initial plans and our
proposal, I started the week doing the PowerPoint for our initial plans.
The first step for the planning is brain storming your initial ideas, where
we mind mapped 3 different project we may be interested in doing
looking at what we would make for the project and how we could sell the
product, then we chose one of the three we are going to make and mind
mapped it again only looking deeper into it and explain what we will be
doing in greater detail and amount.
• We then continue the plans with a style sheet full of images that are
similar to our product or resemble what we may do but also a style sheet
of the colors we may use and how they may connote our work, once this
is all complete we go through and analyze everything we have done.
• Initial plans are a massive help as it is your starting point and is where
you can brain storm and throw in a whole load of ideas you may not even
use in the end, its also easy enough to add what you like and gives you
your first look into what your working towards.
• Then nearer to the back end of the week we have completed our
proposal which is where we have wrote down each aspect of the project
first with what I am actually making, then the target audience and finally
evaluation, it also is helpful as you plan out what you will be doing each
week.
3. Week 2
• We have been making our experiments all
week. Where we have been testing out
new skills and techniques we may use in
our project, this allows you the
experiment with loads of new ideas and
test out skills that you’ve never used to
see if they will work and look good.
• I tested out a couple of Photoshop edit
tutorials which looked good and came out
quite nice, but my main experiment was
using the graphics tablet for the first time
and trying to implement illustration to
real life, the out come was great and was
a really educational and experimental
experience and has opened up more
options towards my final product. Also I
feel it’s a technique I can take forward in
ether projects.
4. Week 3
• The second week we have been cracking on with the research
side of the project. We have chosen several products or
projects which represent what we may want ours to look like,
then took apart the aesthetic qualities and what draws us to
this product and how or why they have done what they do, it
gives you a chance to look at what sells and why but also what
conventional aspects you need to incorporate into your work
when making a certain product.
• We also took part in some of our own research making
questioners and taking part in several interviews, this helps you
to see what your target audience are looking for in a product
and how it may differ depending on what and who your selling
to, this side of research is very helpful in getting a more direct
and personal response from your audience and allows you to
ask more direct questions to receive more detailed results.
• We also completed the pre production power point, planning
our final product in detail making layout plans of each separate
piece but also redoing style sheets and mind maps in far more
detail specifically saying what is going to be used where and
why, pre production is a massive part of what your outcome will
be as it’s the steps your giving yourself towards the product and
its planning the process you may take and what you will need
and where.
5. Week 4
Process
I have chosen to design the poster for my FMP first to
start as it’s the first thing that may typically be seen first
by people and is what catches peoples eye, to start I
have drawn an image of someone being sick as I was
originally going t have it so words were coming out
however that did not look right so kept it as a rainbow.
I drew the image using the graphics tablet and pencil
tool on Photoshop, then for detail on the face using the
burn tool setting it on shadow and also using the
gradient effect on the rainbow so the colors get darker
as it goes on.
I then moved the image on to a separate document to
add the text and place the image in a box using the
stroke tool, the text I chose are from Dafont I chose san
serif fonts with straight edges making the title bold as
it’s the first thing I want people to read, but including
the key information in a smaller font at the bottom.
How I feel
After completing this piece I am happy with the
outcome especially with the fonts I have chose as I think
they work really well, I also like the gradients tool as I
haven't used it much but it works quite nicely here, but I
would have liked to use a bit more tools and techniques
on the drawing if I had time.
This week I have started the production
side of my project.
6.
7. week 5
I started this piece by drawing the character
using the graphics tablet and then adding
the colour using paint bucket tool, I have also
added the shadow under the neck and hair
by changing the opacity on the bucket tool
and using black.
I also have used the burn tool and shadow
tool changing the tones in the hair and face
to add detail, then this time using the mouse
I added in the arrows and text with a stroke
on it so it stands out then the birds.
To finish the image of I used a photo where I
used the blur tool so it isn't fully visible and
placed a yellow tinge over the top.
How I feel
I am pleased with the outcome of this work
the drawing has came out really well and
using the tools to add detail makes the
image look loads better, but I am also happy
that the image shows confusion as there are
the birds I have added his eyes but also the
arrows come back round to him and are a
mash up of loads of emotions running
around at once.
8. Process floor plan
• As I am making a booklet for my magazine there are various pages I
need to make one being the floor plan for the gallery, I started the plan
using the line tool to make the boarders of the gallery its self, then
from Dafont I added the header for the page using two different fonts
for each word and a line to separate the two.
• using the rectangle tool placed where each piece of work may be and
From Google I got an image of a typical toilet sign to label the toilet.
• Again using Dafont I chose a bold square font to label everything and
made a key to make sense of the page.
• How I feel
• I am happy with how my floor plan has came out as it comes across as
quite professional and realistic, and also has what I believe is
important to have on a floor plan and what people need to know.
• I also think the fonts I have chosen to use are similar to ones on the
poster and work very well with one another and the rest of the page.
9. Process
• This is the poster I have made
for my project, I have simply
just used the shape tool and
then laid that over images and
rubbed away what's out of the
circle, I did this for each image
using photos of my other
pieces to show them what
they will find inside and what
to expect.
• I then went on dafont and
found two similar fonts that I
found matched the page and
worked well with one and
other.
11. • I spent the day in York taking images of what ever I found interesting or what I may include into my
work, once I had found this image I knew I could do something trippy with it following my other
projects. To start the editing I wanted to add a glitch effect or 3d effect which I already new how to
do, first you must copy the image twice making one black and white by going to there image bar
then adjustments and black and white.
• But with the second image I had to make it have a red tint over the image, you does by going down
to the FX bar at the bottom right then clicking blending and colour and unticking the box that says R
(red), once this is done you set the red layer to overlay and move it to the right or left slightly so
you can see more then one image overlaid.
• once I had successfully made that effect work I wanted to make it so the statues eyes were
bleeding, so I stared with a new layer then using the lasso tool drew where the blood tear may be
and pressed refine edge. This was so I could change the contrast and feather so the shape was
smoother and resembled a tear more, once this was done I used the brush tool setting it on
multiply and the opacity at 50 so the colours of the blood would vary and I could make it darker
where I thought necessary to add to the realism.
• Once I had made the brush suitable I could easily add the colour without getting it everywhere
thanks to the lasso tool, then to finish the blood off I added a gauzier blur over the image. I
repeated this process along the eye, duplicated the layer flipped it and moved it across to the other
eye so it is symmetrical.
12. This week once I had finished the process for the first photography piece I went
on the make these 3, it was far easier as I had already done the editing style once
on the previous again using the blending options to make two of the copies red
and blue and moved them slightly to make the 3D effect.
However with these images I also made three layers of solid color one yellow, one
purple and one blue, then applying a different effect to each and changing the
opacity and fill to 50 percent, it lightened the images up and looked cool.
13. Week 7 Week 7 I wanted to implement what I had been doing
in my experiment where I had mixed my illustration
with photography, I have used the style that is typically
seen on grime albums or just grime art.
Process
Making this final product was not as difficult as I
thought when first going in, I started with the image
then made a separate layer and started to trace around
the clothing.
Once I had what I wanted drawn I added colour using
bright colors to make it stand out and it makes the
melting effect look better in my opinion, once that was
done I began using the rubber tool and pen to make
the clothes look like there melting around the edge
and added the swirls inside for the same outcome.
Then I went around with the burn tool set on shadow
to add more color to the clothes and make it more
professional.
Finally to finish the product I again used two of the
Photoshop edits I learnt, firstly adding layers of three
solid colors overlaying them with the image and
changing the opacity to brighten up the photo, then I
again used the 3d effect with the blending options to
make it match the other photos.
14. Week 8- evaluation
• For this week I spent my time on my evaluation where I was asked
to look through all of my work and take apart what I found went
well and what I found went badly, doing this is a massive benefit as
you can see what you are personally happy it and see where you
may improve if it be managing time better or bulking out research
more. We then compared our products with similar existing
products to see what we have done similar and how they differ
whether it be better or you need to include more of the
conventional aspects, this allows you to see if your product is
professional and whether you can compare it to one that sells on
the market.
• Our peers also went through our work looking at what they liked
and how they think you can improve your work, I find this task
helpful but depending on who looks at your work and how much
they give feedback, sometimes however they say things you may
have mentioned or say very little.
