This document summarizes 10 research papers on using blockchain technology for electronic health records (EHRs). The papers propose various systems to address issues with the current centralized EHR models like data privacy, access control and interoperability. Smart contracts are seen as a way to securely store health data in a distributed ledger and grant time-limited access. However, most systems do not fully address challenges like handling emergency access or differentiating user roles in the transactions. Overall, more research is still needed but blockchain shows promise for improving EHR systems if these open issues can be resolved.
