This document discusses ways to improve the aerodynamics of light commercial vehicles (LCVs) to increase fuel efficiency. It first describes how LCVs are less aerodynamically efficient than passenger vehicles due to their body shapes, consuming about 30% more fuel at 100 km/h to overcome drag. The author models a common Indian LCV, the Tata Ace, in CAD software and creates modified and unmodified versions for CFD analysis. Modifications to the trailer including a wind deflector and side skirts are analyzed. Results show the drag coefficient is reduced from 1.520 for the unmodified design to 0.649 for the modified one, indicating improvements in aerodynamic performance and potential fuel savings.
