Photo language
“What is an ideal learning space”?
Generate an agreed upon list of top four
elements from their group with reason
Key Elements
The environment is safe, non-judgmental and non-threatening
There is freedom of thought and ideas
The boundaries between school and larger society are porous and there is free
flow of ideas
Curiosity and questioning are encouraged
Experiential learning is emphasized
Diversity and an inclusive environment are valued
Learning is centered on the learners
Ownership, Co-creation, Refl-action are the responsibility of both teachers and
students
Empathy, healing and social support are extended and students are
encouraged for their efforts
Learning is joyful
All exchange occurs in an environment of respect
The facilitator treads carefully keeping away from instructing too much or too
little, while supporting students.
GP exercise (in 3 groups):
• Roles and Responsibilities as a teacher and
anchor of the learning space.
• Challenges and limitations in their respective
capacities (roles) to be able to play these roles
effectively.
• Possible solutions.
• Support Mechanisms in the system.

Ideal Learning Space Elements

  • 2. Photo language “What is an ideal learning space”? Generate an agreed upon list of top four elements from their group with reason
  • 3. Key Elements The environment is safe, non-judgmental and non-threatening There is freedom of thought and ideas The boundaries between school and larger society are porous and there is free flow of ideas Curiosity and questioning are encouraged Experiential learning is emphasized Diversity and an inclusive environment are valued Learning is centered on the learners Ownership, Co-creation, Refl-action are the responsibility of both teachers and students Empathy, healing and social support are extended and students are encouraged for their efforts Learning is joyful All exchange occurs in an environment of respect The facilitator treads carefully keeping away from instructing too much or too little, while supporting students.
