7. Law and regulations on rape
Rape is a statutory offence. It is created by article 5
of the Sexual Offences (Northern Ireland) Order
2008 (S.I. 1769/2008 (N.I. 2)). The common law
offence of rape was abolished by article 5(6) of that
Order.
