“ Opening” Mathematics for All Learners An overview of learning components within NROC’s open mathematics curriculum.
The  topic home page  orients learners to the objective and learning activities.
Warm-ups  provide pre-assessment to test prior knowledge and recommend review.
Presentations  offer a media-rich conceptual introduction to the topic with illustrated examples. Different presenters appear throughout the course to appeal to different students.
Worked examples  are step-by-step explanations of procedures and strategies for solving problems.
Practice problems  - symbolic and word - are designed in adaptive sets,  and offer students immediate feedback.
An integrated textbook  provides comprehensive coverage of topics  with additional explanations, manipulatives and examples.
Review  offers the learner an opportunity to self-test their understanding prior to moving to the next topic.
Projects  are collaborative assignments in the project-based learning tradition to solve real-world problems.
Tutor simulations  offer students directed guidance in problem solving.
Puzzles  give learners a chance to play with and reinforce math concepts  in a fun, no-fault environment.
Formative and summative assessment  is designed to guide a learner’s progress.  Semester exams provide additional summative assessment.
