2. We have decided to base our documentary on the ‘selfie’
trend. It didn’t take us too long to come to this decision as
we all agreed it would be a fun, current and diverse topic
that we would all enjoy getting involved in. It was also the
first topic idea that we came up with so we decided to go
with our gut!
3. However we didn’t just jump to this conclusion and we did spend time weighing up the
positives and negatives of all our possible topics.
Why we didn’t choose the others
University: It would be too difficult to film at a University so a lot of our filming wouldn’t
look like it fitted together and it would have been too hard to find degree students to
interview. It may have also been quite a boring topic and it isn’t very original.
Health and Body Image: This is too much of a wide topic to draw any conclusions from. It
would also be very hard to facilitate any expert interviews. This topic is also quite
sensitive so we would have to be very careful about what we say. There has also been
countless professional documentaries on this topic that have already been created.
IPhone 6: We didn’t think this would be a very original idea at all. It’s very limited and
we had already over heard other groups in our class who wanted their documentary to
be about mobile phones and we wanted to do something different to everyone else.
