What is Questionnaire ?
A questionnaire is a research instrument that
consists of a set of questions or other types of
prompts that aims to collect information from a
respondent.
The data collected from a data collection
questionnaire can be both qualitative as well
as quantitative in nature. A questionnaire may or
may not be delivered in the form of a survey, but a
survey always consists of a questionnaire.
Advantages of questionnaire
 It is an economical way of accumulating information.
It is economical both for the sender and for the
respondent in time, effort and cost.
 It can cover large group/area at same time.
 Replies may be received very quickly in questionnaire
method, as there is no need to visit the respondent
personally or continue the study over a long period.
 Questionnaire is comparatively an easier method to
plan, construct and administer. It does not require
much technical skill or knowledge.
 It puts less pressure on the respondents for immediate
response. He can answer it at his own leisure.
 Questionnaire has some unique merits as regards
validity of information. the responses given by the
subjects are available in their own language and
version. Therefore, it cannot be wrongly interpreted by
the researcher
What is consumer awareness ?
Consumer awareness means being conscious of having
knowledge about the various consumer production laws,
redress mechanism and the consumer rights which include
right to protection of health and safety from goods and
services that the consumer buy, right to be informed about
the quality, price, potency, purity and standard of good, right
to choose the best from a variety of others, right to get
representation if there is any grievance or suggestion, and
right to seek redress against unfair trade practice or
unscrupulous exploitation. The Consumer Protection Act
was enacted in 1986 to protect the consumers from unfair
trade practices. There are certain rights provided to every
consumer by the Consumer Protection Act. Every consumer
must be aware of the consumer rights and responsibilities.
Need for consumer awareness
 Exploitation of consumer.
 Poverty and illiteracy of consumer.
 Ineffective consumer law.
 Information gap.
 Absence of quality consciousness.
 Mislead by seller.
 To create more informed buying decision.
Need for consumer awareness
survey
 Through the data collected in survey, the level of
consumer awareness in public can be understood.
Whether public is aware about the rights provided to them,
their duties and various remedies provided for their
grievances.
 It helps the society in becoming more knowledgeable
about their rights and products . it
also helps the consumer to know about taxes implemented
on products and their quality and expiration and
manufacturing dates etc.
In the present study, an attempt was made to find
the awareness levels among the consumers of age
group ( 18-25 years). To collect the data, 20 sample
respondents were selected from different part of
India.
