The document provides recommendations for promoting an e-commerce system, including:
1) Optimizing search engine optimization through keywords, meta tags, and links to increase website visibility.
2) Using newsgroups and forums to generate discussion and exposure of the website.
3) Implementing banners and pop-ups on other popular websites to advertise.
4) Ensuring the website has an intuitive user interface and establishes customer loyalty through rewards to encourage return visits and purchases.
2. EFFECTIVE USE OF SEARCH ENGINE
• When a user uses a search engine (Google, Bing and Yahoo) they normally click
the top results what are the highest viewed ones, so to get a website to the top
of the list is the pay the search engine developers to put the website highest on
the list, so when searched people will see that website first and click on it, which
will increase views over a long period.
• Spiders are used by the search engine to scan a web pages and their link
related to what was searched and send it back to user, to help the user find the
website they are looking for.
• Meta tags are tags included in the header of the webpage that includes
coding/information about what is on the page, for example phone world might
have phones, IPhone and Samsung. Also this is what Spiders scan to identify the
useful webpages.
3. NEWSGROUPS AND FORUMS
• Theses are basically like online message boards where people
discusses everything within posts, meaning in terms of
promoting and e-commerce website is to start a post , (a new
topic) about the website and talk about, others will see it check
the website out and then write what they thought about it.
4. BANNERS AND POP-UPS
• Banners is where a business pays another website, one that is very popular,
to have a image of the smaller business to show some of their products and
deals, so when some sees it and are interested they would click on it and it
would take them to that website so they can look around and maybe buy
some products.
• Pop ups is just like banners where the business pays to another website to
have a pop ups on that page, so when that page opens a new window open
with information about the smaller business. This ways can be very irritating
to users but can catch there eyes and get them interested.
5. SPAM
• This is when electronic mail or e-mails are sent to users using
a customer list or to random people to promote the products or
offers, however most people find this irritating and will delete
the e-mail before reading it or block it. also they might think
they should ever go to that website because of the spam.
6. DIRECT MARKETING
• This is where the products and the company's information is
given to users through physical media like, flyers, catalogues
and coupons. However like spam people might find this
irritating but there is a higher chance of people reading them
then SPAM and these are mostly targeted to the right audience.
7. SITE NAME
• The site name is important if you want customers to returns, it
has to be easy to remember and spell, because if its short and
simple it won’t take long tie to find and if its easy to spell
people won’t end up on other peoples websites, who might use
closely similar name to gain more customers.
8. ENSURING AN EFFECTIVE USER INTERFACE
• The website must be simple and easy to navigate through the
website, so the user can easily find what they like, buy it and
hopefully return to the website, however if it is not easy to use
the user will get lost or won’t be able to find what they want
and will leave the website and most likely won’t return because
how difficult it was to buy a product.
9. ESTABLISHING CUSTOMER LOYALTY IN A
VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT
• It is hard to trust an e-commerce system because of the lack of
human contact and not knowing if the site is real, so it is
important to gain customer loyalty so they get more
comfortable using the website, meaning they use it more often.
• Gaining customer loyalty could be done by maybe send
coupons to long time users.
