2. Representation in the media is the
description or portrayal of someone or
something in a particular way. Not many
social groups have been portrayed across
this magazine. On the front of the magazine
there are two brothers in their late teens,
dressed in slacked off comfy clothes like any
other typical teenager would. The whole
genre reflects them being rebellious and
reflects that they are simply doing their own
thing.
3. On the contents page, the ‘DEC14’ is written
in a font which has a skyline at the bottom.
Similarly, the article on the double page
spread mentions the lead band travelling
around on local transport, and also the
secondary photos on the DPS are taken
outside, this reflects any teen social group
which older people might argue are ‘causing
havoc on the streets’.
4. There is little class representation within this
magazine, it isn’t an elite magazine it is for
people who are purely in for the music as
appose to ‘looking good’. I am following
conventions by using models that are white in
my front cover. It is unlikely to have a block
rock star as it is to have a white rapper
(Eminem breaks this convention). As punk is a
sub genre from rock I have followed on from
that convention and therefore used white
models.
5. The colour scheme that I used, is not
dominantly stereotypically for girls as what
may be used in a pop magazines (pinks and
pastels) but more generic colours such as
green blue and red which are not gendered.
Black and white also remain neutral.
