Reasons for the fall of the roman empire
There were many reasons for the fall of the roman empire; one reason was a decline in morals
and values. These could not be maintained towards the end of the empire because of certain behaviors.
Violent crimes made the cities very unsafe, emperors like Nero and Caligula spent a lot of money
towards parties where all the guests would get rotten drunk, and the most popular amusement was
watching two people fight each other to the death at the Colosseum ("Reasons... 1). Another reason is
that Christian beliefs conflicted with the working of empire. Constantine established religious toleration
in the roman empire and, over time, Church leaders became influential and took away power from the
emperor (Gill 2). A third, and interesting, reason is the power and wealth the Roman empire had.
Because of the romans power and wealth, they raised opposing forces which were powerful enough to
match them (Heather 1).
