Reliability Program Manager/Failure Analysis Engineer (2005 – Present)
Managed new product development for multi-billion dollar international hard disc drive industry leader.
Developed, evaluated, and maintained reliability systems involved in new product development. Qualification
expert for component selection and testing. Worked with cross functional teams in troubleshooting key failure
modes, identified issues to maintain high quality standards, with a focus on achieving time to market. Ensured
all testing and qualifications on or ahead of schedule, and managed multiple priorities on a daily basis.
Developed statistical methods to improve reliability predictions, providing in-depth failure analysis, and
improving organizational efficiencies.

               2 Terabyte green technology product was behind time to market, with no clear plan on
               execution. Initiated, developed and executed reliability plan that enabled product to reduce
               qualification schedule by 6 weeks. Ensured all critical testing specifications completed, quickly
               closed quality issues. Product arrived to market on scheduled release date.
               Reliability lead for new product targeted for emerging green energy market. Developed and
               executed plan that improved reliability performance by over 500% at product launch.
               Simultaneously, improved product field failure rate from 5% to less than 0.65% for OEM
               customers. Accurate reliability predictions saved millions of dollars in warranty reserve costs.
               Key product failure mode caused quality and customer failures. Analyzed and isolated data
               patterns of failure, and with cross functional team members, demonstrated issue due to code
               error. New code released to customers for all affected products, and failure mode eliminated.
               Prominent failure mode in OEM demonstration testbed. Analyzed and identified failure mode
               due to mechanical issue. Mechanical team tasked to fix issue, which required re-design.
               Product placed on stop ship until mechanical change implemented. Customer experience with
               new product was positive, with increased orders from OEM customers.

Program Manager – Process Engineering (2002-2005)
Managed new process development for multi-billion dollar international hard disc drive industry leader.
Responsible for new product introduction from development to volume shipment. Managed overseas
operations for process engineering. Duties included monitoring yields, improving process efficiencies for
factory automation, and ensuring high product quality.

               Product margin issue in volume production caused over 30% drop in factory yields. Created
               statistical analysis models as certified six sigma brown belt, and teamed with cross functional
               organizations, found source of yield issue. Improved yields over 30% in 9 month time period,
               and fix applied to all products. Received bonus and promotion for resolving critical product
               issue, enabling maximization of profitability on products.

               Initiated, developed and implemented new state of the testing technologies that improved
               quality and reliability and improved process efficiencies by 15%. Development of new quality
               test algorithms within test process produced a generation of best in class product offerings.

Process Engineer /Program Manager
Managed and directed daily engineering operations for multi-million dollar international lean manufacturing
company. Daily activities included troubleshooting all equipment, programming, and resolving quality issues.
Responsibilities included reporting to upper management updates for daily operations, quality, yield, cost
improvements, and supply chain management issues.

               Assumed leadership of underperforming product line in Shreveport, LA, with product yields
               below 30%. Developed and integrated equipment and product transfer to Westminster CO
               work site utilizing lean manufacturing techniques. Coordinated manufacturing process transfer
               and directed engineering teams for new product integration. Product transfer completed in 8
               weeks from projected transfer of 12 weeks, with no interruptions to customer shipments.
               Improved product yields to 94% in 4 months after product transfer. Customer lauded efforts for
               superior service and improved product quality, received bonus for successful project.

Lucent - Bell Laboratories - Research and Development, Westminster, CO                     2000-2001

Physical Designer
Responsible for design and development of new products for multi-billion dollar telecommunications industry
technology leader. Coordinated the design and manufacture of products with a diverse engineering and
business team. Duties included mechanical design and thermal finite element analysis.

              Detected and confirmed a physical design change was required to solve a two-year recurring
               firmware problem with telecommunications product. Isolated physical design error that caused
               the firmware problem. Redesigned, and implemented on all systems, with 20% improvement
               seen in data transmissions and firmware problems eliminated. Awarded bonus for success of
               project.

CoorsTEK, Golden, CO                                                                       1985 - 2000

Process Engineer (1997-2000) / Tool Design Engineer (1985-1990)
Process and tool design engineer for international engineering ceramic industry leader for high tech
applications. Responsible for manufacturing process, design, and quality of engineered ceramic products.
Initiated and invented new, state of the art processes that improved quality and reduced costs, meeting
customer specifications and improving customer satisfaction. Designed tooling and fixtures.

               Technical engineering team lead for several business units. Analyzed and defined processes,
               made recommendations for production and quality improvement that led to superior products at
               lower costs. Invented new technology for developing products.
               Developed and refined manufacturing process for ceramic product, targeting quality, cost and
               volume problems. Achieved major technological advancement in ceramic processing methods,
               using SPC techniques, with drastic improvements in quality and process repeatability.
               Technology breakthrough made possible mass production of ceramic fuse in volumes over 4
               million/week, at profitable margins, and eliminated 100% visual and dimensional inspection.
