1. Question 2 – How does your media product represent particular social groups?
2. My magazine is Aimed at males aged between 16-25 ( my target audience) I feel this was demonstrated through many different ways e.g age of model and clothing. This magazine was aimed at this target audience as I feel males are more involved in Hip-Hop music than the female population, my target audience have been represented as materialists and hedonists, as they would always want the best stuff available, and would rather ‘buy now, pay later.’ How have I represented my target audience In the magazine: The dress style was fashionable and the model was presentable and not ‘chavvy’. The location of the photo was in a discrete venue and not crowded/busy, these aspects connote yonug adults as ‘free’, ‘fun living’ and just want to live life to the full. I think it is unfair to sterotype young adults as ‘chavvy’ and always causing trouble, my target audience may like to drink alcohol but they would be sensible. Who have I represented in my magazine?
4. The dominant ideology of young people these days is that all young people seem to be lazy and up to no good all time. They are deemed to be drinking way to much, underage sex and drugs, and also lack of respect for everyone. However it is coming emergent ideology that young people involved within my magazine actually have talents and want to succeed in life e.g university, but still have time to go out and have fun. My product shows young people represented in a positive way. Emergent Ideology.
