Technology and Education
Technology vs. Education.
 Technology is being used at 100% in public schools in
the United States Compared to 35% in 1994
 Facts shown that technology makes difference.
 Not enough equipment and training for tomorrows
teachers to understand and be able to use technology.

 Continued..
Continued……
 Government has provided grants for teachers to learn how
    to use technology.
 Four Components to Constructional Design:
 Determine who the learners are.
 Establish objective to be learned
 Decide on instructional strategies best suited to meet the
    objective
 Establish the evaluation procedure used to determine if the
    objective was met.
 Concluding topic thoughts
Concluding topic thoughts
 It is a good thing to incorporate technology if it is used
  correctly.
 Even though having technology in education is a good
thing, I feel that it will put more work on the teachers.

 Are Textbooks Obsolete ???
Are Textbooks Obsolete ???
 For higher education the US Department of Education
created aGrant to deliver information electronically.
  Example- Textbooks
 Electronic text books will dominate the market in 10-
  20 years.
 Evidence provides that consumers aren’t yet ready to
  do away with printed textbooks
 Cost is a major impetus among this topic.

 Continued..
Continued…..
 The combination of print and digital helps make
studies more effective, efficient, and personal.
 Schools looking for better ways to deliver information
    to their students.
 Audio and video can enhance learning experience.
 97% of students felt online resources were easier to
    use.
 88% said it improved their understanding.
 84 % Recommended it to instructors
 Thoughts on Topic
Thoughts on Topic
 Text books should be left in schools. Students need to
know how to read from a book, rather than off a screen.
Children should try different methods of learning, rather
  than just one.

 Bringing Digital Textbooks To The Masses
Bringing Digital Textbooks To The
             Masses
 Many Schools replacing textbooks with
    computers.
 California, Texas, and Florida represent 30% of
    the textbook market.
 Digital textbooks are cheaper to maintain.
 No wear and tear on softwear.
 No cost of incorrect information.
 Continued
Continued
 Digital textbooks are convenient but are useless
  without internet.
 Having electronical text allows links and rich
  media and school books.
 Computers are financially cheaper than textbooks
  provided in schools.

 Final Thoughts on Digital Textbooks
Final Thoughts on Digital Textbooks
 I am not sure if I agree with digital textbooks or not. In the long
run they do see that they would be cheaper than actual text
books. I feel that students should be able to read from a text
book, than reading from a screen.
 I would rather read a book, than read something from a
  computer or another screen.

 Conclusion
Conclusion
 Technology is a great thing in education if it used properly. Children
these days are very smart. They know how to work their way around
computers. If there is going to be access to the internet in schools,
there should be certain websites that are blocked.
 Teachers should you technology as a tool in their classroom. Students
need different ways of learning. They will learn best if the technology
  is used the right way.
